The Holy Spirit is beyond jealous and will judge us. The Holy Spirit can be furious jealous about your life your marriage, your relationships, your job, and will convict. And let me just say you will have no doubt after time goes by even things you thought were right are not. And later you can see this . Amazing. Holy Spirit is Amazing

To Whosoever has an ear to hear?
I have yet to hear anyone discern the true understanding of God being a jealous God.
The Holy Spirit is jealous meaning "WATCHFUL". He's not jealous in an ENVIOUS way because He doesn't see the evil darkness of sin as an advantage or something that He is in hopes of possessing.

As adults, the closest intimate relationship we know of is most often the romantic one, but God is a parent (this is not to say that He doesn't appreciate the warmth of a romantic relationship). He is the parent of all humanity, but He wants a personal relationship with each one of us also (He "yearns jealously" for that). We must not hide our idiosyncracies, habits, attitudes, etc. from Him. If and when He ever decides that we should change, He will make sure that we know...by "every word" that presently proceedS out of His mouth. The book (2000 years old) is a guide to inform us how to "HEAR" His voice (John 10:27) and learn the "sword" of His spirit (Ephesians 6:17).

Ex34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Yes, our God is a jealous God. 1st John 5:7 tells us that the Father, Christ, and the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) are one. They are in perfect agreement and harmony.
Yes, Exodous is in the Old Testament, but we also read that our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The Holy Spirit is the third part of the Trinity. The Bible says that God (Trinity) is jealous over us, because God wants to be first in our lives, with no one or nothing higher or more important. He wants to be the lover of our souls and have intimacy with us (like two lovers). He also wants us to fall crazy in-love with Him.

God's spirit (the Holy Spirit) "yearns jealously" over the heavenly/Godly spirit that is (or should be) in us (indwelling).
"He yearns jealously over the spirit which he has made to dwell in us".
Walk by the spirit (Galatians 5:16).

What a person feeds the most, will grow the most. If a person feeds their flesh with worldly stuff, their flesh will grow after worldly things. If a person feeds their spirit, after God's word their spirit will grow and they'll become closer to God. So yes the Holy Spirit is jealous. The bible says God is a jealous God.

The Holy Spirit has been given us as a helper; as such He does not get jealous. What happens when we sin is that we grieve Him, and suspend His ministering to us.

Exucuh: from your reply, it is evident you don't understand the Holy Ghost in the least yourself. He cannot and will not dwell in unclean temples. Nothing pure and holy of God can enter a person who openly acts in disobedience to the truth he is trying to tell them. If you know something is true beyond a doubt and then rebel against it, you grieve the spirit and there is no forgiveness ever. you can deny it, ignor it or say it is false all you like, but it still doesn't change the truth.

2 Corinthians 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

to have warmth of feeling for or

desire, (move with) envy, be jealous over,
(be) zealous(-ly affect).

a_servant is right. The key is understanding the contextual meaning of Jealous here, which is different from the contextual meanings we mostly imply when we use the word--envy.

The Bible says the Lord is a jealous God yes, but it is different then the jealousy that we are told is a sin.

You better reevaluate your understanding of the Holy Spirit and not make the mistake of Ananias he did not fear the Holy Ghost.
Acts 5:4-5 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

I believe so yet. The bible teaches that our God is a jealous God and when we put anything or anyone before God He gets jealous and will convict us.

Ex 20:5 ..I the LORD thy God am a jealous God
Ex 34:14 ..the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
Deut 4:24 For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
Jn 4:24 God is Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is God.
No. God does not "get" jealous. God is jealous. It is one of His major Character traits.

The H.G doesn't get jealous. He is the comforter, the bearer of all truth. If he tells you in your heart things are true and then you openly mock him and do them anyways, the spirit is grieved and leaves you. he cannot dwell in an unclean temple. example, you know adultery is wrong beyond a doubt and then commit it, you have just sinned against the Holy Ghost. there is no forgiveness in this life or forever. people have no idea how serious things are when you openly rebel against truth and Jesus Christ.
---ashley on 6/18/07|
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and He does gets jealous. It tells us that in the Word. He becomes jealous when we deliberately sin, commits spiritual adultery, worship idols and so forth, Disobeys and become preoccupied with many wordly activites. The list can go on and on.

"You shall worship no other god, nor make or bow down to any Image: For the LORD your God, whose name is jealous, is a jealous God." The Father is jealous as in zealous or intensely passionate concerning His relationship to His children, as well as His called out ones relationship with HIm. "Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of Me: and that cover with a covering, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin."
---joseph on 6/17/07|
I have found that people think the Holy Spirit is a third person in the Godhead, False doctrine, The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God,Jesus said God is a Spirit, Jesus said there is one God,The bible says by The Holy Spirit Mary conceived that makes the Holy Spirit Jesus Father. And God is a Jealous God.
---exzucuh on 6/16/07|
Yes, but not in the way of fallen humanity. The word "jealous" in 2 Cor.11:2, which is the nature of God expressed, is the same word as "zealously affected" in Galatians 4:17,18. Both of those words mean:
From G2205; to have warmth of feeling for or against: - affect, covet (earnestly), (have) desire, (move with) envy, be jealous over, (be) zealous (-ly affect).
---Linda on 6/16/07|
God's love for us is so fervant that He cannot bear there to be anything in our lives that would corrupt fellowship with Him. That is why He paid the high price He did for our freedom from sin....the sacrifice of His Son. What determines worth is the price paid and that was the highest price that could be paid for humanity. We were quite expensive and He longs for the fruit of that worth.
---Linda on 6/16/07|
Absolutely. He wants you all to Himself. I wonder how many people obliges Him? When you wake up in the mornings it should not be "Hello Honey", It better be "Hello Jesus". Same at night before you close your eyes.
