I Lost My Job This Week

I had a major change in my life this week when I lost my job. I know that God is working through this and I have an incredible peace about the whole situation. I know that others are in, or have been in this situation. Please pray for wisdom to know where God is sending me.

I was laid off a couple of times from my employment and found that the Lord does indeed take care of His children as I later found more gainful employment.

We can be assured that as time moves on, you will find employment however, try to benefit from the lessons that are presented to you.

Glad to see you have faith and are at peace, God bless!

Nurseroberts, I'm happy you got a job. We should pray for anyone we know who has lost their jobs and those who are trying to find one. I knew it was humor. I have seen the answers back and forth that you have with others. Politics and the Bible always divide.
What I was referring to was that God is there for us believers and also for those who do not believe. We all receive grace in some way. It would be terrible if the lost didn't get rain. Just think about it.
---Mark_V. on 11/30/11

Mark, thank you for your words.

Actually, I felt very supported when this was first posted 4 years ago. The CN family prayed for my needs and God responded. There was no liberal/conservative thing going on, and I know it.

I posted that as an attempt at humor. I don't take any of this personal. Sometimes I think we take ourselves too serious.

Again, thank you for your support..

Have you ever stopped to think that God wants you to be the employer instead of being employed. Gods first instruction to Adam was to have dominion and subdue (Gen1v28) and he also tell us to remember him because HE is the one who gives us power to CREATE WEALTH. Instead of asking God where he wants you to work - begin to ask him what he wants you to create (Deut8v18). In my own life in August this year I had to leave a job because of stress (my hair fell out) and through it God has got me to write a book which never would have come about if I had been working for someone else - Everything happens for a reason and YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR WAY (in Jesus Name). Give it some prayer and give it some thought.

May God Bless You
---The_Believer on 11/29/11

Nurseroberts, concerning your remarks towards others, Scripture tells us,

"....for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." (Matt. 5:45).

I'm glad you got a job whether you are a liberal or conservative. I don't believe republicans were hoping you did not get a job. Maybe those who hate you who are not saved were hoping you didn't, only they can tell you that.
---Mark_V. on 11/29/11

I did... 28 people at the house for Dinner, lots of family and a few people from church! Then I ran off and went to work in the afternoon.

I don't do the Black friday thing either.. Bad craziness!!!
---NurseRobert on 11/28/11

Yes, I had a great Thanksgiving. I hope you did as well. Now getting ready for Christmas. Didn't do the whole black Friday thing. It's rediculous the lengths people will go to, even hurting other people, in order to save a few bucks.
---Jed on 11/27/11

Well, you know what they say. Ignorance is bliss! Haha
---Jed on 11/26/11

Indeed, Jed, and republicans must be estatic!!! ,)

(sorry, had to do that, hope you had a good Thanksgiving)
---NurseRobert on 11/26/11

Yes, I am truly blessed, even if I am a liberal!

It's been over 4 years since I wrote this blog. Ive been working at the same job since July of 2007, very happy at what I'm doing. I also work at a second job, teaching nursing students the finer points of caring for the sick.

Yes, I am truly blessed, even if I am a liberal!

I was surprised to see this blog reborn, this was a year ago..

Ive been working in the same place since July of last year. God has certainly been good to me!!!

Thank you all for your prayers!

My prayers are with you friend. I too, have lost jobs before. It is embarassing and it just plain, hurts. You feel like a loser unable to hold a job. Even though this is usually ,not the case. The loss of income will be missed unless money was saved. Usually not.
You do panic for a while. We wonder where God is in all of this. Our faith suffers for a while. No one wants to be without work. Work plays an important part in our lives. God knows your situation and will be there to see you through.
---Robyn on 10/4/08

Isn't it wonderful when we see that God closed a door, but we KNOW that HE is opening an even better door? You will know when it is the right place. God will show it without a doubt. I'll be in prayer for you Robert.
---Susie on 9/26/08

Just an update. I started a new job this week. It is the job I wanted in the place I wanted to work. I feel such peace being there.

Thank you all for your prayers!

NurseRobert..We met a wonderful nurse in Tucson whose name is also Robert. He was working in an assisted living home and was a blessing to all the residents. Nursing in itself is a gift from God as it takes someone with lots of compassion and love to do that kind of work.
---Susie on 6/19/07

I like fiesty people Jed!
Robert is in what used to be a female dominated career, I'm sure he takes some flack.
Personally I thank God that more men have gone into nursing! Ever see a 5 ft. tall thin female nurse try to turn a patient over?
Thank you for your decision to be in this particular profession Robert!
May God bless you Robert and put you just where He knows you can flourish!
---NVBarbara on 6/19/07

NP Steve. happens all the time.

Jeb. I have a wonderful wife who supports me in every way possible. She trusts the Lord that another opportunity will come forward.

I have though about a business of my own. I am praying that, if it is God's will, that it will happen. If not, I know that something will come alone.

Again, thank you for your many prayers.
---NurseRobert on 6/19/07

NurseRobert is sometimes feisty, especially if you discuss men/womens' traditional roles/careers. He will pounce.
Regardless, I hope he finds a new job very soon! :-}

In every thing that we suffer there is a lesson to learn. You seem to be very talented but need to have your own business, do you dispute often? you say your wife simpithizes with you, will she continue if you dont get another job quickly?
Who will pick up the slack until you do. Ask the lord to help you see yourself.
---JEB on 6/19/07

Sorry, NurseRobert, my mistake calling you a her, but I'm sure God knew who I was praying to. Thank God for covering our mistakes, eh?
---Steveng on 6/18/07

I have already given you a response but please consider what I have said. Sometimes we remain in position that we have outgrown or its time to step out of the boat and do something for ourselves. You are a RN..there are many opportunities available to you. I would be willing to guess that this administrator was afraid of you. He/she saw something in you that was a threat. I would not put myself back in that position again. Go for it! Don't be held back any longer. Be your own boss.
---Robyn on 6/18/07

Jeb, I was the Director of Nursing. The DON is responsible for all of the nursing operations of a facility. My role was to oversee all clinical care of the residents, including making policy. The administrators role is the overall function of the facility. He is not a clinical person.

Robyn, I was the nurse administrator (DON). Part of the issue was I was running the department the way I saw fit.. the Administrator wanted something I could not give him. It happens.

Thank you all for your prayers, they are certainly appreciated!!
---NurseRobert on 6/18/07

Jeb, it's over. Let's not pick someone apart or try and analyze why it happened or what they could do differently next time.
NurseRobert can figure that out. He knows all the ifs, ands, and outs. He says he has peace. He's looking for a new job.
---Cindy on 6/18/07

Why would you be in dispute with the administrator? Are you a supervisor, manager, are you paid to make policy?
Our ways are not gods way! should we quit?
---JEB on 6/18/07

We'll be praying for you Robert, God has His plans for you. Pray and listen for His answers. He will guide you in the direction you should go in.
Get a little rest and down time! God bless bro.

Dear friend. Be of good courage. I feel God has something better for you. As the moderator has stated, your profession is in huge demand and will continue to be, for quite some time. It is terrible to lose a job. Been there also. I pray you did not have a lot of bills and dependents. Perhaps you are now free to pursue other avenues of nursing. For instance ,become a nurse administrator ,and you can make decisions and run things the best way you see fit. Just a thought. My love and prayers to you.

Dear Father in heaven, Holy is your name. The door has closed in a financial area of her life, but I believe you have a door open in another place waiting for her to enter. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide her to that open door so that she may continue to serve you according to your will. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Thank you all for your prayers.

Moderator, it was a case of the administrator and I having a conflict as to how the department and clinical needs of the home should be run. It was a mutual decision for me to leave.

My wife tells me that I have been much more relaxed since this happened. I guess it was time for me to leave.

Jack, thank you for your words. You are right that self-image is connected to our profession.. The peace I have with this can only come from God.
---NurseRobert on 6/17/07

I have been there and I know it can be rough! Praise God that you have peace about the situation though, God will supply your needs. Praying you find the right new job soon!
---maryj9396 on 6/17/07

Men's self-image is strongly connected with their careers. Your peace and confidence at this time are admirable.
---Jack on 6/17/07

I understand how you feel. I had lost a job about 3 years ago. It was a great time to grow in our Lord Jesus Christ. But when God closes one door he always opens another. :) So do not fear the Lord Shall supply ALL your needs according to his riches and glory in Christ JEsus. How would we know his as our provider?

Nurse: The psychiatric hospital I work in has plenty of nursing openings.

I have been on unemployment, and understand that feeling of loss when a job is gone, as you have experienced. God has a plan for your life, so just pray and seek Him in this matter. His plans are for good, to bring honor and glory to Himself.

I will pray for you.
