Hi Cynthia, bless you dear :) You just quoted 2 of my favorite verses in the whole Bible--so beautiful, aren't they? :)

Colossians 2:14, Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross. vs.15, And having spoiled principalities and powers , he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Amen, Victory in JESUS.

It means that Jesus had completed everything that the Father had ordained for Him to do. Born of a Virgin, lived a perfect sinless life, preacher the Kingdom of God, and was on the cross paying the sin-debt for all our sins. Then He "gave up His life for us."

It ment that the debt had been paid in full. That man could now be reconciled and have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

When Jesus cried out on the Cross "It is finished" He meant that He had paid the price in full for the debt of sin. Also, it was the complete end of the Old Covenant and all it's animal sacrifices. The veil in the temple was torn in two when Jesus cried this out. This signified that the way was now open to "whosoever will". Salvation is a free gift to all who will believe.

He meant that we will be loving and enjoying God in personal and intimate sharing with Him > "But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him." (1 Corinthians 6:17) NOT with Him seeming distant.

And that we will be giving to the poor, like Jesus said to do. And every bit of God's word will be fulfilled in our lives, the way ***God*** means it > Isaiah 55:11.

I'm sure that this must mean that because He had sacrificed His life for us there was nothing greater that anyone else could do. The ultimate price for our salvation had been paid so 'it is finished'. We either accept that with thanks and will one day be with Him or reject it and spend eternity without Him.

greetings. It was required of Jesus to live a mortal life prior to his "all power and authority,"in this universe given to him by his father and there after sitting next to his father in his throne. His mission to be born of a woman ,live and die as a son of man and son of God revealing his father completed his mission. There are additional accomplishments in his human life.Jesus ,as John states, now sits next to his father ,our God.Jesus demonstrated his divinity as living the father's will.

I believe that His words meant that the final sacrifice for sin has been made and no others need to made.

It means that Jesus died. He came here on earth to fullfill his promise to God, and he bowed his head and he died. He had to die, it was prophesied back in the Old Testament.
