It's in the name of Jesus. The apostles did it despite they getting instructions as in Matt 28. Why? Were they wrong or disobedient? The name of Jesus carries all authority. Do it and you will know the result.

Matthew 28:19 in the Name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Ghost....not Names.....No one was ever baptised in the titles Father, Son and Holy the Bible...and when they baptised in the Book of Acts it was in Jesus Name....Act 2:38 Acts 19 chapter and Acts chapter 10
There is Only ONE Name whereby we must be saved and that is JESUS when they asked Peter, who had the keys to the kingdom "What must we do read Acts 2:38
and the other Apostles stood up with him

Matt 28:19 says to do it in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These are titles of authority, not really names.
Acts 2:38 says to do it in the name of Jesus.
So I follow both ways by saying "By the authority of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I baptize you in the name of Jesus."

The Father,Son, and Holy Ghost are titles and not formal names. The trinity is an antinomy, it is the mystery of God which reveals that God has become flesh, Emmanuel, God with us, which is clearly written in Isaiah 9:6. The one true God is expressed in 3 aspects or manifestations: God the Father- YHWH (Forever Existing), and God the Son- Iesous (Salvation), and God the Holy Ghost- Siloah (Sent), which is all the same one God.

I was baptized according to Matthew 28:19. In the name of the Father,Son and Holy Spirit.
Some believe in the name of Jesus according to Acts 2:38. Does it matter? I don't think so. Some churches believe Acts 2:38 some don't. I say be obedient to God and get baptized. That's the most important thing.

Baptism isn't just part of a formula for salvation its part of the "belive in your heart and confess with your mouth" its a public declaration of faith. So encourage your friend to find a church that will baptize them.

Because Peter's sermon was about Jesus and His ministry. It was to keep with a comon theme.

I partially agree w/ Missionsoldier, but have a question. I know that baptism isn't a requirement for salvation. In Acts after the day of Pentecost why did they only baptize in Jesus' Name?

In the name of the Father The Son and The Holy Ghost.

As the bible says to do. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. If a person wants in Jesus name, then say in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost in Jesus name. That way your still going by God's word and pleasing the person being baptized.

Doing anything "in the name of Jesus" means doing things in the way He commanded.

In the case of baptism, it means using the formula "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost/Spirit," which is what He commanded.

I agree with the mission soldier. Jesus gave us the formula and His Word is Law. Elsewhere, the discriptions are only general and not intended to give formal instruction other than for the necessity of baptism.

I would point out that the Bible does not provide every detail for baptisms, or marriage celebrations for that matter, or annointing the sick, even though all are mentioned. Sacred Tradition always filled in the blanks, both for the Jews and for Christians. The Didache gives a more complete description of the proper protocols for baptism "how tos" for adult converts.

Matt 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
