Rom 11 in no uncertain terms talks about a literal ingathering of Jews in the end times after the gentiles fully come in. That text is purely literal and not figurative in any sense. Todd, you're in for trouble spiritualizing that piece of text.

I think that the Israel spoken of in prophecy is largely spiritual Israel, and not so much literal Israel. Romans 9:6 says "they are not all Israel who are of Israel".
---Todd1 on 5/21/08
Hey Todd1. Spiritual Israel is taught, but not found witnessed, by prophets or in scripture. What weak shepherds didn't study or know to tell you is found in Eze 37, Heb 8:8 and thousands of other scriptures. Find where Israel is two parts...Nth house divorced and Sth house Judah/Benj.
Esau the twin of Jacob is a player (read prophecies)....is largely forgotten. Not knowing where he fits in scripture the cemetary taught preachers don't/can't elaborate on.

It will soon be the only nation that has something called a 'law' as God wanted it. Coz the rest of the world will be steeped in lawlessness. This will cause it to rise as an influential nation in the world. The temple will be restored. Then antichrist will desecrate it. all these will fulfill God's Word in Scripture. This will hasten the beginning saints' reign & a reconsecrated temple (mostly millennium). Mankind would've been given the ultimate chance to repent under the righteous governance of saints but obviously there will still be many who resist it by choosing to join Satan against God's chosen. then finally evil will be vanquished to usher in the glorious eternity.

I think that the Israel spoken of in prophecy is largely spiritual Israel, and not so much literal Israel. Romans 9:6 says "they are not all Israel who are of Israel". Galatians 3:7 says "Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham".
Just something to think about.

Good question!!! The State of Israel today is largely atheistic. Eschatology would lead one to believe that it will remain atheistic until the Battle of Armageddon at which time God's favorite city Jerusalem will be half taken by Israel's enemies, and then will the nation of Israel call on God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob which God of course is the Lord Jesus Christ(whom they have previously denied) and then will Israel be rescued!!!!

My man Jack,
You've made it clear why (H)Alleluia is the 'only' universally understood word in heaven & earth [probably hell to] since Babels Tower!
What 'Orthodox' church? Ezekiel's bones specifically refer to the 'restoration' of national Israel & the Jewish people back into their promised land as promised by Echad/God by all accounts I've heard in 30+ years from it's recipients [Jews] & 'draftees' [gentiles].
Thanks For The Info.

Short and sweat of it is that it is where it will all happen. Christ will come to the Mount of Olives. The world must keep its eye on the country of Israel to be updated with knowledge for end time prophecies leading to Jesus' return.

The fig tree was used as a picture of Israel not without a cause. As early as in the OT, figs were identified with the nation of Israel by the prophets. Hosea wrote: I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness, I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree in her first time" (Hosea 9:10). Jeremiah received the vision of two baskets of figs, which represented Israel: "Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah" (Jer. 24:5).

The world had better be watching Israel because it is God's time peice. She is God's chosen and they are vital.

Jack, you've read about Ezekiel's "Dry Bones"**
The Orthodox church reads this on Holy Saturday Matins (day before Pascha), and therefore sees this as a prophecy of the Resurrection of Christ and general resurrection.
It is not talking about New Khazaria.

The restoration of the temple of Jerusalem

The Old Testament promised that the nation of Israel would be restored in the last times. This prophecy was fulfilled in 1948. Even though Israel was destroyed and its people scattered abroad because of their unbelief, God said He would rebuild the nation just prior to the end of the age. Some people think that a certain sign of the return of Jesus Christ to the earth will be the restoration of the Jewish people to an understanding of God's full revelation in Christ.

Can someone answer a question here I've long wondered--how do we know for sure that the fig tree is Israel? I'm not doubting that, but am curious how it came to be, thanks :)

Jack, you've read about Ezekiel's "Dry Bones". So I'll simply ask you, the nay sayers, & some Jews who believe as you because of no Conquering Messiah yet.
a)What are they doing there ..?
b) How did they get there despite heading for America & other 'free western democracies' & initially turned away, after escaping Adolf ..?
c) How are they staying there despite seemingly still controlled by gentile powers & hopeless odds [Lke.22:24]...?
d) Ezekiel 37:15-22.

The modern nation of Israel will have no more influence than any other nation affecting the return of Christ. Too many ChristaNet Blogger are listening to the lies of peddled by Hal Lindsey and other Dispensational false teachers.

Praise God. They will see their Messiah.
We need to pray for His mercy, for them and ourselves.
I believe we will be seeing amazing revival in Israel and the Islamic nations soon and that we need to be praying for them - not just that they don't hurt us.
Be a part of the greatest blessing God has yet to give to the world since Christ came the first time. in like manner he will return.

The modern State of Israel has nothing to do with Biblical prophecy but is simply the last great push of 19th century European colonialism.

Zeph.3:1-7,*8-13,14-20, Zech.13:6-9, 14:1-21.
According to the scriptures [Tenach/Brith Chadasha/Bible], today's occurances would mean no more than it did years or centuries ago 'IF', National Israel [God's prophetic time clock & fig tree The Lord Jesus Christ spoke of in Matt.24:32-44] had not began blooming AGAIN in 1948 a.d./c.e., making our generation the one Christ pointed to in those verses, 'the latter' of the last days beginning in Acts 2:15-17! cp Mk.13:23.

Many of them will become converted, some time in the future, evidently - see Acts 1:6.
Perhaps during the battle of Armageddon. Israel will be attacked by many nations, some time after arrival of the Anti Christ.
Afterwards is evidently about when the end will take place. See Ezekiel 39 and Revelations 16:16, and Joel 3:2 & 12.

The religious practice of Israel was destroyed because of a war. The 'wounded head' (war caused) then comes alive and causes the whole world to follow after 'it'. Israel (Jewish religious system) is the ONLY religious group of the major seven that matches this description. Therefore, it is Israel that we have to watch out for. It is going on right now!
