Does God Send Impressions

Scripture describes God as speaking in a small still voice. Are we to listen for instructions from God through audible voices or impressions He sends?

I'd say probably not an audible voice, but the Spirit is SURELY guiding us with impressions day by day. :-) We should all practice listening
Whatever leading you get, be sure to judge it by the Word of God, to make sure it is of God.

Getting to know God, getting to know all about Him.>>>It takes time. You will learn the different ways that God speaks to His people. The best way is, to talk to Him and listen to Him. Full attention to Him and on Him. My God is the only true God. I speak the truth as God gives it to me. Get to know Him through the new birth. His "Blood which was shedd", my friends.

This is a great question. The still small voice of God is an impression, or soft idea, many times like a passing idea. The way to answer this idea, if you think it is from God, is to act on it! If it is not of God it will amount to nothing. If it is of God it cannot fail. Your responsibility is to step out and act on it.

Both. YOu are very fortunate if God speaks to you in an audible voice but at least in my case, I get very strong impressions and promptings(sometimes dreams). Sometimes I just know things before they happen and I realize,(now) that God wants me to move on it. In the past I have failed Him and watched the distructive thing happen by my disobedience and lack of understanding of what God was trying to have me do or say.

1) God speaks to me in so many ways...for instance...just this past Friday I was stressing over a situation that I had absolutely no control over. I know I shouldn't stress, but I was. Well...I was on the way home from work, still stressed, when a car pulled out in front of me and the customized license plate read: "RESTNHM"..translated..."REST IN HIM". Well..just reading that Word sent from the Lord via...

2)...a license plate filled me with peace from head to toe and that thing I was stressing over just melted off of me and I had total peace and did not stress over it again at all. God is always speaking to us, in a still small voice, through signs, nature, scriptures, heck, He even gave me a word through a newscast once! Always be open to Him speaking to you in anyway that He chooses, He is communicating with us all day long, we just need to be aware of Him in our life and be open to receiving from Him.

The longer that you walk with God and the closer you are to Him, you will learn the many many ways that God will speak to you. Sometimes even in a dream. You must always be listening to Him and your Eyes on Him. Always open to communicate with Him. It is very important to enjoy God as He delights and enjoys you. You do these things you will be blessed.

To all believers we have inspiration from Holy Spirit who lives within us. John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

If I give you a set rule, you know who will fake it.

I think we always will have more to learn about how God communicates with us > He will keep us on our toes. "Test all things, hold fast what is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21) So, He wants us to TEST, not to trust blindly...nor to jump to set ASSUMPTIONS about whatever He may "tell" you. But test, I'd say, by seeing how He actually leads you.

We are told to have ears to hear. God speaks to us in different ways. He speaks to us through his word. But if a person is reading adn their mind isn't on the word, they won't hear God speak. If a person yaps their mouth too much, they won't hear God. We need to have ears to hear at all times and learn to shut our mouth and listen.

1. The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit.(Proverb 20:27, Acts 16:6, 15:8,28)

2. The word of God (Hebrews 4:12, Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:2-3)

3. Through another person (Acts 5:3, 2Peter 1:21)

4. Our common sense or conscience(Romans 9:1)

everyday - mostly impressions - a few times as a voice outside of myself but I don't think anyone else could hear it. Always personal and forever meaningful -

once when I was visiting the grave of someone I'd teased for going to church - I was wrought with grief that she may not be with Him and it might have been my fault.

As I approached her grave God said "as I have risen so has she". there by her grave were wild violets in bloom (out of season) her favorite flower
