Christians Obsess About Money

About a year ago I joined an online intercessary prayer group where I agreed to pray for the needs of those who posted prayer requests. I was shocked to find that the huge MAJORITY were asking for prayers for their finances. Have Christians become obsessed about money?

My first prayer need is that You will correct me so I am relating with You the way You desire to share with me in Your love (Romans 5:5), keeping my attention to You so I do what You please, today, with You. There are people who get along with their money better than they can relate with God. And money can not love them, so they are quite lonely. And money has no conscience, a reason why they might love money more than Christian people (o:

We need to guard against this. Pray more for spiritual blessings. Make God happy. Remember, God is not broke. Seek God's face instead His hand. Quoted by Joyce Meyer. She's RICH. ++

Please pray for my finances. Another prayer request RitaH. Are you really an Intercessor? I am too. You will hear some of the most shocking things to pray for. Finances is some of the milder stuff you will be asked to pray for. We should always pray for ourselves first,RitaH. I hope you know that. Intercessory is very hard work. The devil attack you and make you feel the way you are feeling about these financial prayers. yes--prayer for finances, is very real.

RitaH:If you have ever gone to bed hungry, stomach growling? Have you ever had your lights tuned off and could not sleep because the heat was so bad. Have you ever owned a car and could not afford to put gas in it? Have you ever had a job interview and did not even have $2 to go to the interview? Well, my dear, mingle with the street people or Christians and ask them these same questions and you will find out why money is so important. You better have some or you are better off dead.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. It's great that you pay your tithes but you have to have some serious faith in it. God will provide for when you don't have. If we(meaning everyone) believe that and receive it, then we won't have to ask and worry about finances.

Money is a necessity and not a luxury. It answers many problems in life. Poor people never have enough to make ends meet. We are forever waiting on this check, that check, before we can do somethings we need to do.When the check comes it is usually too small to pay all the bills. We have to wait another, possibly few weeks before being able to pay another bill.Very difficult and hell to be poor. Money is very important and necessary. As long as we don't worship money it is great to have.

Wow, we do not like to have the subject of money talked about do we. Well I have a need for money to keep my bills paid and to live better. The Word of God does not say I cannot prosper. It is pretty clear about being ok to have money just not ok to love it. The LOVE OF MONEY is the root of all evil. It is one more blessing from God to be in plenty. I for one do not want to be in poverty but it is a great responsibility to have plenty. Find a place specifically that says I have to be poor.

I believe that we as God's people, cannot buy everything that we see. Isn't that lust of the eyes? I strongly agree with RebeccaD, we should pray and seek God's wisdom and guidance about our wants. God said that He would provide our NEEDS not all of our wants, Amen? Proverbs 30:8, Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches, feed me with food convient ffor me. Everything we have including money comes from God and we should br wise stewards of what God has blessed us with.

No. What happens is that people go in dept for things they don't really need and when things gets bad and money gets tight, they come crying and whining to God about it. Just because a person can afford something right now, doesn't mean they will be able to later on. I always pray about something before I buy it. I ask God if I can't afford to pay it later on down the road, then I don't want it now.

If they are crying for prayer about finances they more than likely are in bondage/obsessed. They should cry out for help if it is from the heart that they want to be delivered. Will not God teach them His financial system and to better manage their money? Let's just pray for them. You never know which ones are truely sincere since only God knows the heart and motives of man.

People equate believers in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to be Word of Faith.
El wrong o. Name/claim, blab/ grab..prosperity people. Wrong.
We are somehow lumped together into a big prosperous clan.
I don't attend one of those churches.
Here's the thing, many that are demanding that denominations be obliterated are so busy slicing and dicing - now how are you all going to coexist together?
You couldn't be in the same room for 10 minutes without the fur flying.

I'm not obsessed with money. To tell you the truth, I don't enjoy talking about the stock market, blobbety, blah blah blah.
I find it shocking how far out pastors are and willing to go to buy a rolex watch, rolls, citation ten - telling us that because they need to travel all the time, preaching the 'gospel'.
My plumbline is Jesus Christ. If Jesus had no part of it, I don't want it either.

Being in the charismatic circle myself, I blame the radical prosperity message for this obsession. Christians living beyond their means and/or not wanting to work for their money are the majority of those asking for prayer. It makes me sick to see someone who has so much debt that they can't pay their bills and now are demanding the Lord to prosper them. I believe in prosperity but not in being stupid.

Millions of people in the United States were unable to pay off their mortgage payments, cars, homes, and many posessions were and still are being reposessed. Reality sets in not only for the worldly, but Christians also, as the rain falls on the just and the unjust we are all going through the same stuff.

It is sad to see a person who calls him/herself a Christian 'obsessed'with money. This is not what a christian SHOULD be dwelling on. Of course we should be dwelling upon things above and not on things of the earth. It is not necessarily their fault as they have fallen pray to the prosperity ministers. However, that makes them none the less on the road to hell. They cannot serve God and mammon. We need to pray for the lost sheep who have fallen victum to false teachers and the currupt churches.:)

People who are Christian obey by keeping their minds "on things above" > "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." (Colossians 3:2) If we submit to God, He will provide exactly all we need for doing whatsoever He really wants us to do. But people don't relate with God and do what He has us doing. And apart from Him we can not have the sense to do what is right, financially > "for without Me you can do nothing." (in John 15:5)
