AMEN GORDON!! Don't keep God in the box of your OWN understanding.

I have this great says...
"Why do you fly outside the box?"
"I fly outside the box because I can."
"BUT we KNOW the box, we are SAFE inside the box."
"THAT, my friend, is why I leave it. For you may be SAFE...but I AM FREE!"

Set yourselves FREE...FREE to experience and have ALL that God HAS for you, wants to do FOR you and THROUGH you!

RESENTMENT AND RETALIATION are crafty and stealthy little foxes! Burning with jealousy over the blessings of others and desiring to wreak revenge for wrongs are indeed two potent spoilers of our vineyards. The great and small find these foxes tripping them up over and over in the quiet places of their souls. We find ourselves making room from them when we feel wronged, feeling sorry for ourselves and when we harbor their injurious presence.
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/30/07

For this kindness we show them, they eat the heart out of us and leave our souls devoid of good, replacing violent evil wishing instead. The secret to running them off is to learn, as we all must, to be content in all things (Philippians 4:11-13) to rejoice in God's goodness and to completely forgive those who wrong us (Luke 6:35-37).
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/30/07

PRIDE is a sly one - with many disguises. He is seen best at a distance or in our neighbor's garden. It is often completely overlooked in self. This is a thrifty little fox and if allowed to remain, becomes the fox of self-conceit and eats the very core of spirituality out of the heart and life. God hates pride: remember that Satan's fall from heaven was over his pride (Isaiah 14:12).
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/30/07

If angels can fall over pride, certainly we will too. To shelter it is surely disastrous to our efforts to walk humbly before God (Micah 6:8). The way to the Celestial City leads through the earthly Valleys of Humbling. Let us not allow our personal pride make the walking out of this necessary path to Glory any more rockier or difficult than it already is. May we always walk in this good way.
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/30/07

EXAGGERATION is closely related to pride. This is so "small and innocent looking" that many ministers love him, and allow him a place in their vineyard. While exaggeration may seem small, all that goes beyond the truth is closely related to a lie and all lies are of the same color. Exaggeration only leads to outright lying, and the Bible says that those who lie open themselves up to further sin. (Proverbs 17:4)
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/30/07

Satan is rightly called the father of lies by our Lord Jesus (John 8:44) and all liars will share elbow room with other sinners in eternal punishment (Revelation 21:8).
Let us keep our speech "salted" or purified by truth (Colossians 4:6), speaking the truth in love and in honesty.
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/30/07

It's the little foxes that spoil the vine.

Rebekah said, "Giving glib, curt, critical statements to others does not make you a prophet. "All pastors are unsaved. Avoid all churches."
That's spiritual mumbo jumbo and close to witchcraft.
There is at least one, maybe two, practicing prophet/pagans that carry the sign around their necks. They are unable to give a true prophetic word from God, however. It's not in them. Pride and spiritual mumbo jumbo gives way to false words.
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/30/07

Rebeca martin says all churches are mumbo jumbo..then I will ask you: what are you doing on this site..we are all christians who speaks mumbo jumbo as u so rudely described..what indeed are you doing here? If your sharing the Word of God, what for? You dont believe in it so get off it..
---pamana on 10/30/07

There is no prophets today. If one is telling you about something all ready written its not new.Prophets spoke on things not heard of {new},and it came to pass. The rapture of the church is next to come, every thing beyond chapter 4 of revelation has yet yo be fulfilled after the rapture of the church.
---lionel on 10/29/07

Rebekah_Martin: True teachers will not promote consorting with the dead, known as Necromancy. All teaching the dead communicate from beyond the grave are teaching necromancy. Teaching spirits go to heaven then send messages back to us is a dangerous subtle form of necromancy
David is dead and buried. David has not ascended to heaven. Saul believed a demon impersonating Samuel and fell on his sword where previously victorious. He believed a demon, not the sleeping Samuel. He died because of Necromancy
---TS on 10/29/07

A word given by a prophet will line up with God's Word, if it doesn't, forget it.
No one should believe words coming from a man or woman that are unbiblical.
We can all go to the Word and receive a Biblical Word that is meaningful and relevant.
---Rebekah_Martin on 10/29/07

A prophet does not practice witchcraft.
That would be a false prophet.

If you've been given a word that you are a prophet and still involved in witchcraft, you are in big spiritual deception.

If the bible explains that there's a time when Prophecies will cease It speaking of the time that Christ will come. We are in the time when at any moment Christ will return. So the understanding is Prophecies will not be as popular as in New Testament times. Yet today There is a Vast amount of people claiming to prophecy, you can even go to day/evening classes based on ''learning how to become a prophet'' So the truth is in the Prophecy not all persons claiming to be a Prophet.
---Carla5754 on 10/29/07

The bible says there are prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, apostles - if one office was put away, they would all be. Not so. There are legitimate ones.
Jesus fulfilled all prophecy, the Bible is prophecy, but not all prophecies have happened yet.

Lionel, READ Ephesians 4:11-12! R E A D I T ! Whisper is right. There ARE PROPHETS! It's one of GOD's Ways of speaking to people today. We have the Written Holy Scriptures, but, GOD also has SPECIFIC THINGS AND PEOPLE OF TODAY TO ADDRESS! GOD is God and He can do whatever He pleases, and we cannot "put Him in a BOX" and say He cannot "go outside of it"! That's just foolishness on man's part to think that way.

A prophet doesn't only fore-tell something that will come to pass. Prophets also forth-tell, and that means he or she speaks a scripture from the Word to alert folks of a possible danger, what God is seeing in a group of believers that He isn't happy with, or an outright warning. The last thing we ought do is persecute them or tell them they don't even exist! If you are uncertain, keep an open mind. The last thing we want to do is dishonorHis messengers.Test the spirits to see if they are of God
---Aggie on 10/27/07

Lionel, Ephesians 4:11-12 says that PROPHETS were established, along with Teachers, in the Church. We ARE to "test the spirits" of the Prophets and make sure that they align with Scripture. But, TOO MANY "Christians" doubt True Prophetic Messages and Revelations instead of taking the time to see if the Revelations are of GOD or not. This ought not be. There ARE False Prophets in the Church, but, Pastors and Saints are to LEARN to HEED GOD's True Prophets today!
---Gordon on 10/27/07

Corinthians 13 Explains where there be Prophets, etc they shall ''CEASE''. Read the Bible which listed the Prophets and forget about ''Self'' confessed people who prophecies have no substance nothing to do with the coming of the Lord or things to come. A Prophet proves his/her prophecy with (Specific time dates and fulfill the purpose of which the prophecy is given). No one on this site calling themselves a Prophet can or have proven to possess those qualities.

Catherine, See Amos 3:7. GOD is free to reveal any SECRETS of the future if He wants. Ephesians 4:11-12 says that He established His prophets within the Church to help minister to the Church. One way His prophets "minister" is by RELAYING a certain message that GOD appoints to him or her to give to the Church or to WHOMEVER! We CANNOT put GOD in a little box by saying "He can't (or won't) say this or that regarding prophecies, when He's got prophets set up for that very reason. YAH Bless!!

True Prophets

1) Few in Number, trusts only in God
Thus saith the LORD, Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

Speaks what God says - "God says..."
I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

Yes, there are prophets in the Church today.

If all prophets were false, the Bible would say avoid all prophecy and all prophets, they are all false. But the Bible does not say that.
I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Chris, The REAL question is, "Does the Ever-Living GOD have something particular to say TODAY?" Can we shut the Mouth of GOD? If GOD wants to SAY something to anyone, can He not do so? Since He established His prophets in the Church today, as Ephesians 4:11-12 says, He uses them to SPEAK to certain "audiences". The BIBLE is His Written Word and whatever GOD says through His prophets today will not go against His Scripture. Even GOD has SECRETS to be revealed in time. See Amos 3:7!

If there are prophets today, then is the canon of scripture really closed?. If it is God's prophet speaking God's words to us today, aren't they as valid as scriptures canonized by men back in 400 BC? Ephesians 4:11-12 says there are. But, many in the Church today disregard them and find them to be an "embarrassment" because many prophecies are hard to take. John the Revelator, on the Isle of Patmos saw this event in vision. Daniel saw it too. Others have seen it, why not they? keep reminding me of Balaam cursing God's people.

First of all we should make it clear that a person is not a prophet only when he/she predicts the future.
A prophet is also someone who teaches the truth in the present as opposed to those FALSE prophets who teach falsehoods.
SO, there are still true prophets teaching the truth today but there are also many more false prophets. P.

for worms, and some would live to become subjects of the seven last
plagues, and some others would "remain upon the earth to be translated

Prophets are men just like we and can be tempted to sin. They too have to fight the good fight of faith. Praise God He most often chooses those with qualities you have noted, yet:

The True revealer is to test Prophetic Utterances against the Scriptures and also to see if anything they predict has not come true.

Excellent posts! What could be more obvious, Biblical, and greatly needed in this hour than prophets? Gift of prophecy and true office of prophet are vastly different. A prophet is: an absolute lover of God, completely dead to sin, instant obeyer of God, has a true love for people, always accurate. It is not for predicting world events, really. It is for instruction in the ways and plans of God, for people to follow.

I have personally known many prophets but they do not come into churches and pick out ladies to tell them nice things about themselves. They speak of things to come and sometimes say harsh thingsabout the churches. I have even seen them silenced by the very pastors who invited them to speak due to what they are saying about churches, ha. They are definetly not the ones who send out news letters asking for money or have tours across the country or are on television. Those are into selfish gain.
