No confidemce means no trust, faith or reliance in the flesh. The word flesh is the whole natural, or unregenerate man, spirit, soul and body, as centered upon self, prone to sin and opposed to God(Rom. 7:18). The regenerate man is not in the spere of the flesh, but in the spere of the spirit(Rom. 8:9). The flesh is still in him and it is his choice to walk after the flesh, or in the spirit.

Really Kai. You had better give God all of the credit for everything good. If your car starts God is the reason that they start. Please, you are not putting confidence in cars are you? Or doctors? The police you had better forget it. Too many unbelievers. [Satan has domineon] Blows me away. Where in this world do you think men gets their knowledge. Do they get it at birth. Perhaps. But they get it from GOD. Oh please. Do not insult my intelligence, comes from God you know.

When Paul speaks of having no confidence in the flesh he is speaking in regards to his salvation. Paul is saying that if anyone could claim confidence in their flesh it was him. He was a Hebrew, circumcised the 8th day, of the tribe of Benjamine, and a Pharasee. He had the zeal, the education, and the righteousness of which is in the law. If there was one that could save himself by works it was Paul. Yet he says all this is dung.

Paul said the true prize is Christ, and His righteousness.

the bible described male & female persons as himself & herself. christ himself used the word I to describe himself as a person when he said, 'peter, it is I.' how can you have a relationship if you remove the people in christianity. finally, do you practice the verse 'deny yourself' or are you going to question the question.

No confidence in the "I am crucified with Christ,no longer I But Christ in me.... and in my flesh (Romans 7) dwelleth NO GOOD THING! Oh Wretched man that I am...who shall deliver me from the body of this death.....I thank God through Jesus Christ my Lord.

We are a New Creature in Christ Jesus, AND also Christ is in You. We now ( Christians)live by the **Law** of the Spirit of Life of Christ that has set us free from the law of sin and death>>flesh bound reaps death only.

No confidence in the flesh means no confidence in yourself. Confidence in God, only. Man, how I wish our nation's Government would get ahold of this.

I agree with the full spectrum of the 10/10/07 post. I can add nothing to the truly inspired responses.

confidence in the flesh is when we trust human resoiurces over God
---doree4573 on 10/10/07

Interesting angle, Bill. While being carnally minded, one is focused on the things and ways of this world. Having confidence in the flesh would be to take pride in ourselves and what we have done, thus being carnally minded as the flesh is of this world. I'm not sure I worded that well, but they are definitely closely related.

To have confidence in the flesh means that we think we can walk outside of the Grace of God through Christ's Spirit. That we on our own can 'follow all of the rules'in spite of our sin nature. Just say no to sin:) The fact is that the flesh is week and it is difficult to go one day following all of the rules and so we depend upon the Spirit of Grace and rejoyce in what Jesus nailed to the cross at calvery. We must walk by the Spirit as our flesh is evil when left ungaurded.:)

All right, kady and Cynthia (o: > another angle on this > "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." (Romans 8:6) "carnally minded " would mean having a mind or confidence for the flesh > if we seek and depend on fleshly pleasure and security, this brings death of peace. Worrying brings death of joy. If we trust things of this life and they turn for evil, "the love of many will grow cold" (in Matthew 24:12).

In the most narrow sense Paul is speaking of those whose flesh is altered physically by means of circumcision, and their having confidence that this gained them favor with God.
---InimicusStultitiae on 10/9/07

Not boasting about what I have accomplished or become in my own strength, but rather knowing who I am in Christ, and giving God the glory for every good thing in my life. Haughtiness, arrogance, prideful, stubborn--those are all signs of confidence in the flesh.
