Only God knows why He doesn't answer certain prayers. Ask Him to reveal to you why God isn't answering your prayers. Sometimes there's an unconfessed sin in a person's life. It could not be His will for your life. "My thoughts are not your thoughts, my thoughts are HIGHER than your thoughts." If you put God in a box and want Him to do something a certain way, He may not want to conform to your way, He has a higher way of doing things...there are many many reasons for unanswered prayer.

I believe God always answers the prayers of His children. His answer may be "no". It could be "not now". The answer may, or may not, have to do with something in our control. (it's not always all about us!). The Holy Spirit may convict us of sin.

FAITH is believing that even if we never get what we want, even if things seem hopeless, HE sees us, knows and loves us thoroughly, and knows what is best for us. He is God. He "owes" us nothing...not even an explantion.

God hears all sincere prayers. God answers all prayers. May not be the answer(s) that we want but He answers. In his own way and on His own timetable. Not ours.

Rob, Your question belongs in another blog ...
What I posted was a direct quote from the Bible. Is the Holy Spirit trying to convict you of something?
But to answer your question...
We are justified by grace and we are empowered to obey His law by Grace.
Jesus and all His apostles condemned those who make void God's law in order to follow their beloved traditions.

All I am saying Kai. Is this, if you have no time for God He will not have time for you.>>>Bite the dust. Mister.

catherine-unanswered prayers bec. of sin? so do you mean you have to be perfect for god to answer your request? I've seen christians justify their 'sins' by cherrypicking the bible or they use the bible whenever it suits them. that is why their request are 'answered'.
---kai on 11/5/07

Some of the reason are. 1 folly. 2 you in sin. 3. deaf to God's voice. 4. unforgiveness. 5. not walking and staying close to God is another reason. Let me explan: Seek God's face instead of His hand could be appropriate. 6. Spend more time with God. Get to know God mabe He will see fit to answer you. Remember, we are completely at His mercy. Good day.

Robin, as Christians, are we still under the law or are we under grace? Galatians 2:17-21.

there are many, are you fighting with your spouse?are you saying one thing and doing another?or should I dare say living another?

God doesn't answer the prayer that glorifies ourselves.
He doesn't listen to the prayer of one who will not listen to his law. (Prov 28:9)

one reason for UN-answered prayers is bec. there are those who 'shut the door of heaven'. One sabbath, a blind man cried out to christ for healing, the pharisees, looking for something to accuse' said, 'it is unlawful to heal on the sabbath'. that is one reason why some prayers are unanswered bec. of that kind of arrogance. if christ followed the pharisees bec. of religion, the blind man would have his healing unanswered!

When my children were small they would ask for sweets when it was almost time for a meal. I would say "no" to their request because I knew it would spoil their appetites. I believe that God does this sometimes. It is not that prayers go unanswered. It is that we get the answer that we did not really want, but it was the best answer at the time because God knows what is good or bad for us and his negative answer shows that He cares for us.

In these two scriptures in first John14-15. The answer to this question is plainly pointed out. Scripture, 14 "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:" 15 "And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." Therefore I submit that when my prayers go unanswered because God has not heard them. And he didn't hear them because they were not in his will.

1 Jn 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Honest Christians know that these verses are true, IF they are IN LINE to HIS WILL.' On the other end, some within Christendom abuse these verses for the purpose of trying to get rich, TO SATISFY THEIR OWN FLESH with the worldly things.

1Pe 3:7 says that strained interpersonal relationships, between husband and wife, hinder prayer, Jam 4:3 says that prayers aimed at merely enhancing own pleasure will go unheard, 1Jn 3:22 says that if we disobey God's commandments, our prayers won't be answered.

Any sin YOU REPENT of will be totally forgiven by God and he will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
But UNRPENTANT SIN, UNCONFESSED sin of disobeying God's commandment can lead to "SIN UNTO DEATH"(1JN3:14)

Whisper)I like both Donna's and Cynthia's answers and feel that they pretty well covered your question but I'd like to just add one thought. Sometimes God has answered your prayer but as Donna was saying that His ways are not our ways, we may not even know that He did answer the prayer. Why? Because the outcome is much different than what we imagined it would be.:)

I hate the unconfessed sin explanation.(we all have some Unconf sin)...God will always answer your prayers - sometimes the answer is no. Sometimes it is not when or what you can see....but trust.
I'm old is God. Believe me 20-30 years is not a long time to God. Think of Job and Joseph how many years. remember 40 yrs in te desert.

The joy is in the journey.

That is probably not the answer you want but it is truth.

If you are a Child of God, He hears and answers all of your prayers.

Sometimes He answers with yes, sometimes He answers with no, and sometimes He answers with wait.
---Rob on 11/1/07

Sin will stop God from answering prayers in a person's life. A person being impatient will put a delay on their prayer. But sin will is the biggest cause as to why God won't answer prayers. God won't bless a mess and he won't bless sin.

There are NO UN-ANSWERED PRAYERS. 1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. When anyone prays for their own lust, technically they do not get what they prayed for but their prayer is answered. What they end up receiving is more strife and suffering in them selves. James 4:1": From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

God DOES answer ... sometimes YES sometimes NO sometimes WAIT sometimes I WILL GIVE YOUR SOMETNING ELSE INSTEAD sometimes YOU ARE SELFISH ASKING FOR THAT.

Whisper, God answers ALL of our prayers.

Sometimes, He says, "Yes."

Sometimes, He says, "No."

And frequently, He said, "Wait," or "Think it over again."

Blessings to you Whisper and a great question as well. One reason that God does not answer our prayers is because of unconfessed sin, another reason He knows that you are asking for something that is not good for you or that you may not need. God knows us better than we know ourselves, and He knows what we need and what we do not need. I have learned that when you ask God for something He either says yes, no, or wait. God Bless!
