The bible is full of "sermon notes", I find it easier to read than a notebook full of doodles and shorthand. It's compact, you don't need a briefcase or a filing cabinet to store it in. Have bible will travel.

I take notes when I'm bored, doodle, write down every word.
If the sermon is good, I listen to every word. I seldom refer back to written notes and usually end up throwing them out. I have filled notebooks full of notes and rarely read them ever again.

I'm forever jotting things down because I'm a poet, but lately since I have been going to this one church, I've been finding myself taking notes on what the pastor is saying. I never did that in the other church I went to even if I Did get a good message there. hm. .
Yes Catherine. I agree with what you said. If someone sees you questioning their "Knowledge or authority" they will get offended if they are false. If they are true, they wont mind at all. amen sis!

I do take sermon notes sometimes. And in Sunday school. I have taken some notes from these blogs too. Writing helps the memory a great deal.

Everytime that I go to church! Be warned, if you are listening to a false preacher they feel threatened.>>>When you take notes! Especially, if they get the wind that you are saved.

Yes I do. But I must confess, I do not go back and study the notes as I should. I find it a bit distracting to take the notes during the sermon. Taping the sermon may be more beneficial for me.
---Robyn on 5/2/08

Blessings Trey, It is refreshing. No disagreements. No one feeling offended.

I used to take sermon notes, but despite my best intentions, I seldom ever referred back to them. I now pray that God will show me what he wants me to get from the sermon and listen intently. I get more new insights into scripture that way because I'm not focused on getting something down on paper. When God speaks to my heart, I don't forget! Sometimes I follow up on the sermon with more Bible study in that area, sometimes I don't.

I take notes on my cellphone. I also can access the bible online from my phone. Both help me to refer back to and study sermons (and the bible in general) anywhere and at anytime. Periodically, I back my notes up on my computer just in case.

Yes I do. I like to look back on my notes so I can study more on it later. I write in my bible as well. I write down the date, and the preachers name. I also jot down little notes here and there. It is a good way to learn.

Before God took me out of the church, before you judge. There may not be a God called preacher in my town have to wait on God. But when I was in church it was party-time every Sunday morning, night, Wed. night. Me and God. Yes, I took notes I worked when I was in church. I did not sit there like doe, does.

Blessings to you Kella, sermon notes are a wonderful way to see if what your Pastor is preaching lines up with the Word of God. I am a firm believer on taking sermon notes. I have so many books that I have taken on sermon notes, and another point, you can look back at them to see how you have grown in the Lord. God Bless!

Just to let you know, I write in my bibles. Some people believe you should never write in a bible, but I jot down scripture references, etc. Sometimes when I go to study something I've studied in the past, it helps to have my old references written down. Sometimes I look at a verse I wrote down and think, "What was I thinking?":-)

Writing helps you remember the key points of any talk or sermon. I do jot down the high notes.
