Obedience Brings Blessing

I asked a Christian sister in the Lord, "Does obedience bring blessings?" She said, "Not necessarily." But after reading Deuteronomy I think obedience does bring about God's blessings. Can you give examples in your life where you obeyed God and He blessed you?

Obediance brings pain and blessings in God's plan. He did not create a Home and Garden religion.

Duane-Obviously, we need to Obey God as Christians. Anyone teaching that we should not obey God or Christ's instructions is teaching Anti-Christ doctrine. Head faith is expressed in love actions toward His commands. The white horseman is riding, for sure these days.

You must understand that to make a decision to obey is NOT what God intended, for this is earthly and has never worked (Romans 7). On the other hand, God has intended for us follow Abraham's example of faith. By mixing faith with the Word (Hebrews 4) that Word will be revealed or made evident in us (Hebrews 11:1). Once the Word is revealed this is the obedience to that Word.

I will not go into it fully it's getting late: Obedience, I can not explain how important it is in serving God. Actually, you can not serve God without it.

The closer I get to God, the more I realise that the greatest blessing God can give me (post salvation) is His mentality. By thinking the way He does and having His wisdom which means applying His principles in my everyday life, I am "empowered to prosper" so yes, obedience to God's percepts creates the opportunity to prosper. That is what the word "blessing" means - to be empowered to prosper. It works. The results in my own life have been phenomenal.

Obedience, definately brings blessings. After all we teach our children to to obey not only us but God as well, do we not? There's even a song about obedience to God, that I sang as a child that I remember to this day. If you obey God, that means that you are in His will, or at least heading in the right direction, so that means that you will automatically recieve blessings from God for following Him and obeying him.

Mike I have absolutely no idea what prompted you to ask me this "what are you going to say next? christians who can't provide for his family is worst than 'unbelievers'?" What has this to do with what I have written? Please read my posts again - I think you have misunderstood me.
---RitaH on 12/18/07

ritah-1. joyce meyer's reason for having so much 'material possessions' is bec. of god's blessings.
2. I am not talking about material possessions, but how can a christian feed his family if you are broke.
what are you going to say next? christians who can't provide for his family is worst than 'unbelievers?'
---mike on 12/18/07

1. Mike, I didn't realise that this discussion was about material possessions. I don't believe that (mainly) 'blessings' = 'material possessions'. Many televangelists obviously do but I certainly had not thought that Donna was referring to these things when she asked her question. I am not saying that God does not bless us with the material things of life - He does - but there is surely a much wider meaning to the word that that.
---RitaH on 12/18/07

2. Mike, some of the things in life that I would call blessings from God would be a). A wonderful nights sleep (after realising that I must trust God instead of worrying about things). b). A much prayed for good result from tests done by my doctor. c). Finding a long lost relative after much searching and praying... and other such things with are worth much, much more than material possessions.

how can 'all things' work when all is pointed to sin? that is why blessings are missed bec. most christians are 'quick to look for something to accuse' & always point to sin.
---mike on 12/15/07

how can 'all things work together' when everything is pointed to sin?
---mike on 12/14/07

"ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28 Paul had a "thorn in the flesh",though he pleaded with the Lord that it depart, still boasting in his infirmities. 2Corinthians 12:7-10 We are called to be faithful to the Lord the sunshine AND the rain. Read Philippians 4:12-13 !!!

Malachi 2:7-8 - for the lips of the priest (pastors tele evangelist) ought to preserve knowledge & from his mouth men should seek instructions bec. HE IS THE MESSENGER OF GOD, but you have turned from the way & by your TEACHINGS HAVE CAUSED MANY TO STUMBLE.
---mike_how on 12/14/07

no one knows the heart of man except god? a tele evangelist who is a hypocrite would tell a lot about a man's heart. they would look good for jesus by condemning the self or others yet they would cater for their own selfish desires. their actions speaks louder than words.
---mike on 12/13/07

****christ did not obey the pharisees when they said that healing on the sabbath is unlawful****
Jesus did not obey the Pharisees when they said this because 1)it was a lie and 2) he knew their hypocritical hearts.
mike-we don't know the hearts of tele-evangelists and just because they "look" rich or have much in material things doesn't mean their heart isn't right with God. NO ONE knows the heart of man except God.
---Donna on 12/13/07

Obedience should come from our love of God, not to earn a blessing just as good works should be done because we love God and others not because we hope to gain heaven or graces. If we truly love God we wont expect anything in return. We will be happy just knowing we are conforming ourselves to His perfect will.

the reason why christians missed the blessings is bec. they waste their time in obeying an endless list of works. others are 'blessed' is bec of hypocrisy.
---bill on 12/13/07

Hmm...obedience brings blessings? pastors & tele evangelist do not obey 'denying' them'selves' yet they are bless with material possessions. is that obedience
---mike on 12/13/07

christ did not obey the pharisees when they said that healing on the sabbath is unlawful. obedience killed people in jonestown & waco. then people who say 'just obey' will wash their hands
---mike on 12/12/07

I believe there is such thing as righteous sacrifice. If you do not "live it up" as the world says is fun, you are sacrificing here on earth. Of course, I do not call what they are doing fun, but nonetheless, it is the case. We will be rewarded by seeing people saved through our example.

Obedience brings blessings. look at the life of Abraham. He was just an ordinary person. He wasnt even a jew but came from a place that didnt knoe God.He was obidient to God's word when he told him to leave and go to a place God was to show him. He is the father of faith. It wasnt because of anything but he listened and obeyed God and it was called and accorded as righteousness. Which ever way " Every word of God is flawless, He is a shield to those who take refugee in Him." Prov 30:5

Perhaps your friend hasn't noticed the blessings that she received as soon as she thought she should. God blesses our obedience and our faithfulness in ways that He sees fit and in His timing. He is not like an indulgent parent who feels He has to hand out sweets every time we are good. We should be obedient because we love Him, not because of rewards to follow. Blessings will occur without us always, immediately, realising the fact.

YES Ive been paying my tithes and God has blessed me in all kinds of ways, you should try paying your tithes and see what happens for you.
---judy on 12/11/07

Obedience is better than sacrifice.

If God wakes you up in the middle of the night to pray, it's better to obey.
Your response to His wakeup call - obedience - praying for protection for your town or whatever it is that God tells you to pray for - brings a blessing of peace to your spirit.
If I ignore the prompting, I can't sleep.
Obedience to God gives you that peace that passes all understanding.

I quit my job at a retail store because I had to work on Sundays and I lost several hundred dollars income, but I've been able to manage without it. Above all I think being obedient to the Lord's command to keep the Sabbath holy has blessed me spiritually and allowed my faith to increase.
