A very few people (a brother in law of mine for 1)have stopped drinking without God's help (supposedly) but since God knows everything and he was born again before he died? I know many who stopped immediately at the time of salvation and a few who had to have special prayer for deliverence. The thing is they all stopped and their lives were better.

Seek, and ye shall find,Knot,And the door shall be open to you.
Because you are one that seek the best of life, you shall be added to the foul.
Fear not, your time will come.He have heard
thee.Turn not to the right, and turn not to the left, but make your path stright to the
Almighty God.One your way, always stop and
smell the roses, and each time you will fine
more than the rose.

Desiree, This is a hard question to answer with cold hard facts. God CAN and WILL help in His own way for each individual, and He doesn't always wait for them to be "saved." I personally was delivered from drinking and drugs BEFORE I was truly saved, without even asking the Lord to help me, but, I know that it was His strength that did it. If you want to be delivered from any addiction, pray to the Lord, believing and He will answer. It may not happen instantly or be easy, but, it will happen.

He won't and He can not, until He saves you. Without God you can do nothing. You must have God.

Desiree, you must be quite young, and have had a heavy burden. This must be so painful. You write, God,how can you help me? First. He is all powerful and loving, no matter what life has shown you. His love for you is immense, such that He gave His life for you. His arms are open to recieve you as His child. He is the Comforter, our Rock. He IS able. Seek Him, Heis near to the brokenhearted

When you feel like drinking get on your knees and start praying asking God to take the alcoholism away from you instead. God has gotten me through abuse and I almost died in my first partial hysterectomy, but God had heard my prayer asking Him to watch over me because I was still looking for who He is. I was not saved at that time. God had brought back my breath.

Desiree, I was sent away to live with relatives for a while when I was 14, so I empathize with your feelings of abandonment. I also developed a drinking problem, and other issues as a result of that and a alot of childhood trauma.

God can help you in a lot of ways. One is to offer you social support through either Celebrate Recovery OR Alcoholics Anonymous. Google them to learn more.

I wonder how old you are? Do you have friends who could support you ... a husband ... children?

Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When You said, "Seek My face,"
My heart said to You,
"Your face, Lord, I will seek."
Do not hide Your face from me,
Do not turn Your servant away in anger,
You have been my help,
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.
Psalm 27:7-10

Desiree - first, cry out to Jesus, "Lord help me, please help me Lord with my drinking problem as I cannot help myself stop." Keep praying and asking the Lord Jesus to help you. Second, pray and ask the Lord to send you someone who can pray with you and help you. Is there a church near you where you know they are full of God's love and welcome new folks? I will also be praying for you too. (((huggsss))))

Dear Desiree, you are most certainly in my prayers, hon, I am soooooo sorry your own mother treated you that way. I know somewhere in Isaiah (but forgive me 'cause I'm not sure where it's at) God talks about how even if a mother were to reject her children, GOD LOVES YOU! He loves you more than I can describe dear and I am praying for you.
