My mother once busted my chops when I said, "The Bible doesn't have the answer to my question!" Oh, she went NUTS on me! The Bible has answers to all questions. There's a lot of verses that have kept me super-glued together through my worst times. Just gotta look. ,)

The book of Proverbs is full of practical wisdom for everyday life. It covers money, how to deal with people, jealousy, foolishness, contentions, etc. Join this with your relationship with Jesus, walk in the Spirit and simply submit and obey. Easier said than done? Easier to complain.

to greg - so if being logical or rational is delusional, not biblical & a person should not lean to ones understanding, as you say, they why don't you 'deny' yourself. the car, house & food you use everyday is part of exercising your own 'understanding. I bet that you use your own understanding everyday, so don't think you are so self righteous
---mikehow on 3/25/08

to greg - so these pastors & tele evangelist who chose to be rich, use the same world system they condemn others for are delusional bec. they use logic & rationalizations to live & exist in this world
---mikehow on 3/24/08

Do not worry about tomorrow take care of today for today has enougth evils of its own. Jesus said it. I tried to. >>>Seriously. If you will just learn to get your counsel from the one living God, you must see a difference in your life.
---catherine on 3/21/08

You can rationalize and justify YOUR wishes all you want with scholarly and intellectual logics and philosophies (and you are doing very well, but you only deceive yourself, Ephesians 2:15). You give yourself a "strong delusion (Ezekiel 14:4-8KJV correctly translates the word "according"), and 2 Thessalonians 2 shows that the strong delusion has always existed for those who choose it.
---greg on 3/20/08

to greg pt1 - really, then why do pastors, christians use the same world system that they criticize you for. if your child is sick or hungry are you going to sit down & pray about it? if you do not have a job, are you going to sit down & pray about it. these examples require objective, logic & reasoning.
---mikehow on 3/20/08

to greg pt 2 - what you are told to do is vague, abstract & generalized 'truth'. and with those kinds of subjective teaching, people get in bondage, stumble bec. they are pointed to the wrong direction, then they miss opportunities.
---mikehow on 3/20/08

to greg pt3 - why do pastors still use money to feed, house, & clothe themselves. isn't that logical objective reasoning?
---mikehow on 3/20/08

It is the habit of humanity not to ACCEPT 'OBJECTIVE' truth. Pilate said to Jesus "What is truth?" (meaning 'what does the truth have to with how humanity really chooses to live?'). Who was Pilate asking?John 14:6. Humanity chooses to live according to SUBJECTIVE truth (preferred types of logics, philosophy, types of reasoning/scenarios. Objective truth is non-negotiable, felt to be too restrictive and confining, that is why the truth in the bible is hidden from those who don't want to see it.
---greg on 3/19/08

The Bible covers everything, but not in full living color. This is why you can study or read till you become ball-headed, you still need God to step in and help, guide, and yes speak to you on a regular bases.
---catherine on 3/19/08

I believe: Christians have many questions because:they love their Savior and want to know more. Christians also make life more complicated then it needs to be.The enemy sticks doubt/questions in our heads. The Bible states that all answers are in the Word and that some things aren't meant to be understand until later. If someone believes that daily living questions aren't answered in the Bible, then they haven't read it all, or they haven't paid attention when they did. May God bless you with knowledge!
---Laurie on 3/18/08

pt 3 to tom - bec. your teachings are vague, abstract & absolute. you do not specify the issues & how they apply in the real world. just bec. people want to hear want you want to say does not mean it is a sin.
---noah on 3/18/08

pt4 to tom - 1 good ex. is the pharisees will say foul when christ heal the sick, blind on the sabbath.or when the pharisees said that the cause of the blindness is sin. does the suffering, struggling need those kinds of 'answers' to fit their lifestyle? you are a human dog, no compassion or answers to set people free. but giving them snake when they ask for fish!!
---noah on 3/18/08

pt6 to tom - that is why christ rebuke them & said that they are putting heavy weights on their shoulders, exhausting them to works in the name of obedience & spreading yeast that will put people in bondage
---noah on 3/18/08

pt 1 to tom - oh really, what are these tele evangelist who have lust for money. do they submit the teachings of christ. do they deny themselves. why are they rich? and if you rebuke their greed, they will defend their lustful selves. they want answers that best suit their lifestyle.

pt 2 to tom - and by the way if your 'answers' are wrong you will stumble people, put them in bondage & you will not fix the problems that you caused. the pharisees & experts in the laws stumbled & put people in bondage bec they think they are so holy. you will be giving them snake when they are asking for fish, stone for bread & shut the door on their faces.

noah, let me say that most people ,including professing christians are not living a victorious life in submission to jesus, and following all his examples, and teachung on how to live daily through the spirit following him.the answers are crucifying the flesh daily. but most want to live in the world and be of the world ,yet still say they follow the lord.ergo they are confused, and mixed up and LOST.they want the answers that best suit their lifestyles.
---tom2 on 3/8/08

pt2,not the answers that are scriptural.sorry to tell you most are living in the lusts of the flesh, and not in the spirit following the lords teachings.they love god,and their neighbor only when it dos not conflict with their life.whats their passion, money, sex, entertainment, possessions?you can tell buy the divorce rate, and the many money oriented things around us.the sexual perversion, andadultery that is out of control.bigger homes and nicer cars, and entertaiment has filtered into everything.

WOW! did you ever read the Bible? The Bible has all of the answers for today. What do you think your daily bread is? It is the LIVING word of God. Living because it changes as you need it to. God made it for believers to seek out answers to our "everyday life". In fact the Bible answers questions about the future that we haven't asked yet.

the Bible "Is" the word of God. I do not know any Christian looking for answers not in the Bible, because Christians do search the Bible for answers. Finally, you asked How does one verse apply to my situation? You have to apply the right verse to the particular situation you are facing. If I were seeking answers on baptism, I would look for those verses, and not verses on salvation or praying. You have to keep the Word in context, and rightly apply this Word to the specific subject or situation

You have not read or believed anything written in your bible. The entire bible is for learning, teaching and growth in Christ. The book of Psalms(worship and praise, wisdom) Proverbs(wisdom) Ecclesiastes(wisdom)are very good books of the bible to teach us directions in our everyday life. The entire bible is useful for our learning and knowledge in the way of the Lord.

Of course, the Bible, since it mentions stories that involve people's lives, will mention incidents in their lives. However, it does so only in passing - it doesn't pretend to be a comprehensive manual on such things as cooking and washing dishes. It has more important things to worry about.

Strongaxe, look again on how to be a housewife,it's right in there in rather vivid detail. Proverbs 10:10-31 the virtuous woman/housewife. We all are learning from one another, but it still is the Bible which has given us the patterns of relationships. There is more which can be found in bits and pieces of the scriptures which relates to daily life and relationships. It also mentions a man wiping a dish and turning it upside down 2 Kings 21:13. Ha ha all men should do that!

to rob - gal 2:20? really. from my experience christians do not practice what they preach bec. each of us is an individual. I have met christians who have their own personality, who are dysfunctional, trying to look good for jesus & not showing christ living in them.

Yes. And in the verse you mention, it shows that the Bible in some cases is very explicitly directing people to rely on wisdom that is outside the Bible (in this case, on how to be a homemaker).

pt 2 to rob - see that is what you call judging. people have pain & struggles in their lives & you do not know what they are going through, then you will accuse them of sin. when & where will the healing start when you slap them with verses that they SHOULD & MUST HEAR!

(4) One kind of fear is worry. Worry can have us very concerned about our own selves...not caring about all others as ourselves. So, "worry could be the anti-Christ" anti-love. You perhaps never would let a boyfriend or girlfriend abuse you and lie to you like worry does. Worry is a pathological lier making us fear what never happens, torturing us. So, worry is hateful, and our selfish self makes us available to this. We need to love ourselves by denying that self who gives in to worry.

(2) one example, mikehow > Jesus who says to deny yourself also says, "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?" in Matthew 5:46. We love ourselves by doing the loving Jesus says to do so we get our reward. But in order to do this, we need to deny our **selfish** self witch makes us picky and choosy...actually **judging** who is good enough for us to love. That conceited selfishly loving self makes us deeply weak so we can be easily hurt and suffer emotionally. (3) >
---Bill_bila5659 on 1/25/08

(3) "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."
(1 John 4:18)

We love ourselves by denying that selfishly loving self witch makes us weak enough to be tormented in fear. By being in God's love **all***-loving, instead, we also are in His sweetly soothing immunity almighty against fear > "and you will find rest for your souls," Jesus says in Matthew 11:29. (4) >
---Bill_bila5659 on 1/25/08

mikehow...that is an interesting observation. When we deal with depressed people, for another example, we need to be compassionate, not just criticizing them for letting "self" make them available to such suffering. But we do need to love ourselves by denying the "self" in us which makes us weak, and get in God's love, instead, which will make us immune . . . more and better as we grow in this . . . so we can't suffer so much > (2) >

Strongaxe,"how to live in this world"means relationships, transactions between humans. It's refering to behavior, but there are some dietary instructions in the Old Testament which are there for our learning, such as not eating pork then, reason, hogs get worms under the skin which pass to humans if eaten, now there are methods to prevent that. By the way the NT does have the verse that the older women should teach the younger to be keepers(housewives) at home. So thats taken care of by Bible too.

JOYCE MEYER, is the very first preacher that has ever been called by God to0 preach from the word of God, daily living. She uses scripture to help us on day to day living. May God bless her.
---catherine on 1/24/08

The Bible is not an encyclopaedia. It only gives you religious and moral instruction.

For day-to-day living, you have to look elsewhere. The Bible contains no instructions on how to bake bread, how to weave clothing, how to build a house, how to milk a cow. It is assumed that these are things you can learn quite well enough from other people.

John, you say the Word of God is not complete. What would you say concerning what is written in Revelation 22:18-19?
---Rob on 1/23/08

Well, the Bible is complete. And children can have some pretty interesting and insightful questions which show they are alive and interested in learning and discovering. We are God's kids, we have questions because we are interested in learning about God and what the Bible **means** by things it says, and we care about what pleases God. But a child may need to grow and develop before the child can learn certain things. And experience is needed for understanding "a number" of things (o:
---Bill_bila5659 on 1/23/08

Christians can be looking for answers to questions which the Bible does not directly deal with. But we can get answers from God Himself, including through other people and how God works things out.

Also, there are people who are evading what the Bible clearly says God requires with us, and they might come up with issues which can decoy our attention elsewhere.
---Bill_bila5659 on 1/23/08

I guess it's like if you were to read any instructional book. You have to read it and understand it to follow the instructions it gives. Sometimes people find it easier to ask somebody who already read it rather than read it themselves.
---sue on 1/23/08

While it may be true that the Bible doesn't specifically deal with every situation in today's society, there is enough there to develop principles to live by. You can find the truth for every problem that arises if you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide you as you study the word.
---tommy3007 on 1/23/08

This is why you need the Holy Ghost to live inside of you. Some things have to be understood with our spirit but it can be backed up with a scripture, most times. Sometimes not. Some people feel they have to have a scripture before they believe anything spiritual. Not so. The Spirit can reveal things and speak things to us that others may not be able to interpret or understand. This is why Christianity is not classified as a religion. Our relationship with Christ is a personal thing.
---Robyn on 1/23/08

Christians have so many questions because we are not God. We do not have the knowledge and power that He has. This is why we need a Saviour. This is why we need to remain humble and reverent toward God. Having many questions and not understanding certain spiritual things makes us dependent on Him. And this is the way God wants it to be. We are nothing without him. This is the hub of Christianity.Dependency on God. He is our Jehovah-jireh. Everything that we need.

First, the Bible is the word of God period. The word gives direction, comfort, hope and much, much more. 2 Pet 1:3 He has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. Second, we must ask questions, we must think, this is how we learn. While its true that its easier to ask a question than to study it for yourself. At least people want to learn and grow in their knowledge of God and so, they ask.

It is also ill advised to take one verse and apply it to your life. You may read that you should hang yourself.
