Headed Toward A Depression

Many friends at least one in an important position think we are going to see hard hard times ahead. All of my mother's life she reminded me about the depression. Do you think we will see bread lines again?

Moderator - It is likely we will see hard times during 2008 ie a slowing world economy, however a depression is not likely.

It has ALL happened before ... economic slowdown, climate change, population moverments, ethnic fighting, plagues, famimes. floods.
Why should this time be the "End Time"?
---alan_of_UK on 4/3/08

This statement made by Frances oo8 is what I believe.
"Whatever is in the future, God will shorten the suffering on behalf of His Elect." Lookup this could be the day!!!!
---mima on 4/3/08

There is a global financial crisis. It would be unrealistic to think that it'll improve, especially considering that the DOOMSDAY VAULT has already been built and that the idea of "Culling the human race" (reducing the population of earth) is getting more popular. Add to that "Solar Cycle 24" that threatens to wipe out global communications, cause more storms, eartquakes, volcanos, and a "little ice age", you'll see that an economic crisis is the least of our worries.

The economic downturn I see in the US appears to
me as caused by a growing world ecomy rather than
by its slowing.
---Nana on 4/3/08

No Frances, I am not a conspiracy theorist.
Read my words ... "they never learn"
It is not done deliberately
There are of course those who will engineer situations, for their own benefit, without regard for the effect on other, but that dowes npt make it into a universal conspiracy, which you imagine.
---alan_of_UK on 3/31/08

Duane do you have some kind of 'insider' knowledge?

Indeed, such things are possible, but I would not deliberately scare people by telling them so.

Whatever is in the future, God will shorten the suffering on behalf of His Elect.

Those who caused the situation will burn in Hell's Fire forever. Especially the counterfeit Christians.

Looked up Tent City, found it's nothing to do with foreclosures. It was started when Homeless people living under a bridge in a dry river bed, forced to move by Police due to possible flooding, them getting caught unaware. They moved 30 times before the City allowed them to use City Property with a signed agreement. A preacher who preaches there every week also said nothing to do with house forclosures. There are two other Tent Cities in two other States. They have leaders and pay a fee for staying there.
---Darlene_1 on 3/30/08

Alan of Uk, you said exactly what I think. So, in other words, you too are a conspiracy theorist. They will definitely cause an economic crash when it suits them. This is something Christians and atheists, Muslims and Jews are saying. People who have had their ear to the ground a lot longer than me.
---frances008 on 3/29/08

I'd have to say yes unfortunately. from what I've been reading about Peak Oil and the coming water shortage. It's a shame that the global economy is based upon cheap oil which leads me to suggest since it's not cheap anymore and rising that we are in for some tough times. The Mayan Calender of 2012 as the end of time or at least for the industrialized world is not seeming like a crazy prophecy anymore but more of a reality. Also we have seen alot of the scripture of Revelations come true already.

Bush tax cut plans from 2001 -2008 did not work.

There are lot of people are homeless. And the Homeless feedings are like breadlines.

"If it has happened before, it will happen again"
Yes, the politicans and get-rich-quick boys never learn the lessons of the past

This morning the Lord may have given me a little inside information(word of knowledge). Perilous times financially could be(this is what I think my word of knowledge is) what precedes the collapse of society. Now since the Lord has promised to take care of his own if you are his own nothing to fear!!!

We most surely are heading into another depression. In all likelihood it has already begun. But that doesn't mean living in the world of Mad Max. Depressions are more easily viewed in the rear view mirror. It took nearly 15 years for economists to apply the name Great Depression to events of the 1930's. If it has happened before, it will happen again.
---Constantine on 1/25/08

I think it has already started.I recieved an Email yesterday regards (and it contained pictures)of a tent city in S.CA.these people had the motgages on their homes foreclosed. There were 350 families in tents and trailers.Right here in the good old USA.I had to see it to believe it.They had two water hoses for water and 3 port a pottys for all those people.A food line too.
---shirley on 1/25/08

Open hostility to the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a reality.
Many Christians are too drowsy from seeker friendly sermons and materialism to hear God's call to action. Secular forces in the Church have created values that have given way to a widespread blanket that Christians are pulling up over their heads and hiding under.

---Michelle on 1/25/08

Many are looking down at piles of rubble that a moment before was a perfect life.

Storms that cause tragedy also create opportunity.

We are comforted so that we can comfort others.

---Michelle on 1/25/08

You can cave into suffering, depression, tragedy by falling into shock...

Or you can allow the Holy Spirit to comfort you so you can turn around and comfort broken hearts...replacing sorrow with comfort that only comes by the power of the Holy Spirit of God.

---Michelle on 1/25/08

There is comfort for every trouble.
No disaster is beyond the promises of God or outside the scope of God's comfort.

The consolation of God always exceeds tragedy, depression or disasters.

The Comforter, the Holy Spirit broods over you to apply His limitless healing balm to bind up the broken-hearted.

The devil produces paralyzing fear.

When it comes to blessing of protection, the Lord is drawn to the humble, the downtrodden and broken-hearted.
"Surely He scorns the scornful, but gives grace to humble."

---Michelle on 1/25/08

"A great and effectual door opened unto me but there are many adversaries." 1 Cor 16:9

God favors the humble and broken-hearted with opportunities, and a way of escape.

---Michelle on 1/25/08

Paralyzing fear turns into bitterness and hopelessness.

Knee jerk reactions cannot help in extreme situations. Emotions cannot help in extremes.

Satan has intelligence and powers of illusion. He uses emotional responses devoid of any compelling answers for widespread mayhem.

---Michelle on 1/25/08

Look a here, if you people do not turn to God, you don't know what hard times is. And tell these wicked cops to keep their impiety hands off God's preachers. And stop flaunting your sins in God's face.

All our financial pundits say there is likely to be a recession, but it is likely to be controlled to prevent a Depression.
There will be unemployment, and social welfare will, I think becoem more important.
In this country, both parties, left and right wing would suppoert the really and unavoidably needy, but it is not sure which would be able to do this in an effective way.
---alan_of_UK on 1/25/08

For all its left-wing ardour, our present government is incompetent in this, since very few of the government ministers have had any experience of commerce & finance and making things work
As for Elders comment, yes he is right, but in the difficult times ahead we should seek to look after others more than ourselves
---alan_of_UK on 1/25/08

It is just the 'calm before the storm' right now. If I told you what is going to happen this year, 'they' would arrest me as an insider.

I've been saying for years, "There will be a time when we have to put out our buckets and pots and pans and believe God for food. He used Ravens to feed Elijah, why can't He use birds to bring food to us? The birds of the air do not worry, so why should we? If you walk closely to Father God, "Ask and it SHALL be given." "I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor begging bread."
---Donna on 1/24/08

How will the poor folks know if there is a depression or not?
Instead of worrying about what we will eat maybe we should worry about what we can say. The Lord has taken good care of me this far.
---Elder on 1/24/08

If you do see bread lines do not fret or allow yourself to be deceived because the Lord said in Matthew 24:4-8 that it is just the beginning of sorrow?
