I'm Alright With God

Can someone really be saved and say "I'm alright with God" if they divorce, live in immorality, deprioritize their children, and live a life opposite of what Bible says we should have? If you ask to forgive of sins once, are you free to do what you want...just no heavenly reward?

Moderator - No, but that is what most churches preach today.

Failure to trust is home for those who can not believe OSAS.
---mima on 4/7/08

Rebecca, let me explain something to you. First of all I believe in OSAS and just because I place my assurance in Christ, in no way do I believe because I am saved, that I can do what I want. God has changed my heart and you are nobody knows what I feel inside. I have the Spirit who convicts me every time I sin. I know I should not but it is a battle each day and that is the reason I need Him each day. How can you know what I feel or believe? It is impossible unless you were me.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

#2. Rebecca: In fact all those who are truely born again, will feel very bad whenever they sin. The Spirit convicts them of their sin and they are been changed each day through sanctification. When I hear those that speak what you said, who have never been OSAS themselves, how can they possibly know what each born again Christian feels? They have no idea. If many people you know who made a commitment to God and sin when they want, that should give you a clue they are not saved. Period.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

#3. Rebecca: All true faith produces good fruit. Maybe not perfect fruit but nevertheless good fruit. The Spirit changes us each day. If the desire is to sin then they are still slaves to sin. What else can it be? Many churches make a call to commit to Christ without even preaching the gospel. Many go forward by emotions because they heard a song, and later walk away back to sin. Those people were never born again.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

#4. Rebecca: Before you make a statement like yours make sure who you are speaking of. Check their fruits for evidence. There is many who claim to be Christian but live like the world. That should give you a clue. A true believer in Christ has assurance. We are told to have assurance in Christ, His works and to place our trust in Him alone and what He promises. That is our assurance Rebecca, In Christ and not in ourselves for we know what we did when we trusted in ourselves.
---Mark_V. on 4/7/08

Born of the Spirit is born of the Spirit. However, sin does give the enemy an inroad into your life and one's experience of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus right now in this life is hindered. What we do or do not do does not affect God's love for us. However, what we do or do not do is a reflection of our love for Him. God won't hate you for not going to church. You will just find that your love for Him won't burn as bright and His love through you is hindered instead of expanded.
---Linda on 4/1/08

No one will ever be thrown out of the family of God and that selection happened before the creation of the World. But that does not mean that you many no go to the wood shed for character adjustment a few times in your life.
---notlaw99 on 3/19/08

There are a lot of people believes that once you get saved, your name is wrote in the book of life, (while I agree) but they also believe that no matter what you do or how much you sin, their name cannot be erased from the book of life. Our names are not written in permanent ink. God wrote a person's name down, he can easily remove it.

1 Cor. 15:1-2, it was to the Galatian church that did NOT retain the gospel that Apostle Paul preached and had "fallen from grace".

The end result of their fall from grace was that "Christ is become of NO effect unto you".
---Michelle on 2/17/08

"Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace". (Galatians 5:4)

This church was in danger of losing their salvation, having fallen from grace, by which Christ had become of no effect to them. Paul warned, to recover them before they were completely lost as he wrote this letter.

"My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you," (Galatians 4:19)

For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

27But a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

28He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. (Hebrews 10:26-29)

If after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22.. dog is turned to his own vomit again, the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. (2 Peter 2:20-22)

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matt.7:21)

Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him,

Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things, and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Once saved Always saved teachers have disregarded the "IF" in the scriptures. It is a condition.

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand,

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory (hold fast, retain) what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain." (1 Cor. 15:1-2 )
---Michelle on 2/17/08

To each believer the admonition is given.

"work out your salvation with fear and trembling."

People who think they are a success at this have already missed the mark.
The Christian life is not what we've given up for God, but what part of His life we've taken up for ourselves as He provided.
It's never works when it's HIS works because he provided even the inclination to do them.

Deprioritize children. If you neglect your children, better a millstone be tied around your neck than to hurt one of God's little ones. Forget about your reward, you do all of the above, you may not make it in at all.
---Mark on 2/4/08

I don't know why, but I'm wondering, have the CPS ever been called over to your house?
If you're neglecting children, there's a real strong possibility that someone at the CPS is paying close attention. Kids have been known to call them on their own. Yes, they have, even in the backseat while their mothers are driving wildly down the road.

The question arises because my ex-wife, whom I still love/care about/and would like to see return to Christ-was saved and lived a life pleasing to God-had a prayer life/godly outlook and beliefs/obeyed scripture. However, seems to have totally rebelled-immoral sex, drugs, ungodly beliefs totally contrary to scripture-but says she's alright with God.

If anyone 'Christian' tries to share with her..she dismisses them, says God knows what she's doing, and we don't have to worry because we're not standing before God-which is true I know...but I still care and she poisons our kids with these thoughts saying divorce and sleeping around/foul-mouth/lying/etc/etc/etc is what God wants and it's ok! I don't think that can be true but wanted to get an opinion. Thanks.
---jeff on 2/4/08

Another thing that lost people say is that "God knows my heart." I always answer, "Yes, he does!" The truth, of course, is that God does know our hearts and our every hidden secret. So, we need to make sure that our heart is right with God.
---Susie on 2/4/08

The thing is, if you are truly saved you won't want to sin anymore, and if and when you do sin, you'll feel so guilty that you'll have to ask God for forgiveness, which He will, over and over.
---sue on 2/4/08

So how do we know what sin is? Still trying to figure it out. Keeps coming back to the law as a tangible measure so we kinda' know where we are in our relationship with God.

#5 A true believer does not make sin his habit. He is no longer a slave to it. If we see someone who says he is born again and continues in habitual sins, we can make a judgment and say he is not born again. But when a true Christian sins he has a Mediator who will speak on his behalf. He is been sanctified all through his life whether you believe in OSAS or not. He cleanses us from all unrigheousness every time we confess our sins. and will glorify us in the Day of our Lord.
---Mark_V. on 2/4/08

#6 Only one person that I know of has claimed to be sinless and infallible. That person has also answered. Of course this information is not for him since in his mind he doesn't need anything more to add to his believes. He is there already but all of us are not yet. We look forward to the day, but with assurance.

The Lord of Hosts...Regard only Him as Holy and Honor His Holy Name.

He shall be your Sanctuary... a sacred and indestructible hiding place to those who reverently fear and Trust in Him.

For the Lord's strong Hand instructs you to walk in the Way. Do not be in fear or dread of man. The current crisis is God and not the devil. It is a test and God wants you back on the right battlefield.
---Michelle on 2/4/08

If your sins are forgiven they are forgiven. But that doesn't mean that we don't reap what we sow. What goes around comes around and we still have to live by the resulting effects of decisions we make. This person will absolutely see the results of their life rewarded to them and their children. Sin, even though forgiven, has consequences to us and those around us.

Moderator, I agree and I understand.

The doctrines of man make allowances for all sin, but without true repentance.

In all your getting, get understanding.

God loves us so much, that He will upset our applecart to deliver us from a life that will disqualify us from our future with Him.
---Michelle on 2/4/08

Maybe "you're" getting good at doing something that "you're" not supposed to be doing.
"You" could be in the right army but fighting on the wrong battlefield.

Maybe "you're" sidelined and unaware of it.

God will use obstacles to get us back into position.

Trouble on every side can be opportunity's favorite disguise.
Opportunity to repent and get back in line.
---Michelle on 2/4/08

Bill you are correct. Those who are against OSAS always say, that those people(OSAS) are saying they can sin all they want. This people are not OSAS how in the world do they know what the OSAS think or feel? Just because they have assurance of their faith, why would they suddenly become different then them? They are both saved, one with assurance and the other without. Both born again. What gives them the right to persecute the other brothers just because they have assurance?
---Mark_V. on 2/4/08

There are people and churches that teach people that the ten commandments have been done away. Therefore that must mean that there is no more sin and we all have salvation because Jesus's blood covers up the alleged sin anyway. (God can't see through this blood somehow) They teach that God loves everyone, even Satan, and that He gave His son to save everyone. If anyone actually belives this is true, then 'why worry about anything?'

#2. Those who don't have assurance in the living Christ for their salvation, are really in doubt of the work of Christ on the cross. They are depending on their merits or works to satisfy the debt they owed when Scripture says, it has been paid by the works of Christ. They don't believe it because they still have doubts. They also doubt the sustaining power of Christ Himself. They are saying His power is not good enough, that it take their power to make it happen. Faith in Christ works was not sufficient.
---Mark_V. on 2/4/08

#3. They also doubt the power of God because somehow they must have more power then Him, since God tells us He will make us stand. He will give us all necessary spiritual gifts to make sure we are lacking nothing, but that too they doubt. They also doubt the Word of God when He says, If you believe you have eternal life, They doubt it is eternal since again it might change because somehow God did not know you would sin. An Omniscience God who knows everything past present and future.

An S.O.S. Save...our---Souls...

It is very serious. Trouble on every side, adversity is opportunity's favorite disguise, opportunity to repent.

God forbid no. And some people wonder why God took me out of the church. They call me a liar, same as calling God a liar. Salvation is not a license to do as one pleases. These people will die and go straight to hell, the moment there breath leaves their body.

#4. A God who saved you, made you His child, gave you the Spirit, all the gifts, suddenly finds out you sinned, and then turns around and takes everything away and sends you back to hell, (He is all knowling) How can He make such a mistake? It is not alright for Christians to sin. Obedience is not an option. To the believer it happens because He loves the Lord with all His heart. He still has his sin nature, God already knows that, He is sanctifying the believer and chastising him all through his life.
---Mark_V. on 2/4/08

No, and you have just described a person whom is deluded into thinking that they are saved, when in fact they are a lost sinner whom still needs to get saved. And the one whom truly understands what they are forgiven of, does not abandon their salvation to go serve sin again. When a person is living in sin, they are not living in Christ, no matter what they hypocritically say or delusionally believe.
---Eloy on 2/3/08

Jeff, there are people who say if you join them you are guaranteed salvation, no matter what you do. But others who believe in "once saved always saved" understand you will be changed by God to do what is right if Jesus saves you. And the word says to us who are really saved, "as He is, so are we in this world." (in 1 John 4:17) So, I consider this means God's love changes us so we don't do such wrong stuff like you mention.
