Mega Churches Want Money
Steven, you said,
"And Jesus said to them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables" Jesus explains the parables to us who believe in God, at the end of the parable. He explained it to the disciples and wrote it for us, but at the time of His parables He didn't give the answer to the others. Parables reveal two basic purposes. The first is to reveal truth to believers (Matt. 13:10-12) Parables have a lasting impression often more effectly than ordinary talk. Parables were also use effectly in Scripture to confront believers with wrongdoing in their lives. Parable is related to the Greek word Paraballo, which means "to throw or place alongside"

--------These two seeds (christians) received the word of God joyously but were short lived or was caught in the desires of the world. Most christians today fall into one or the other. In today's world, it's easy to be distracted by worldly things and desires or by tribulations and persecutions. When things don't go their way they fall away from the faith.
---Steveng on 9/5/13
That's why TODAY we are crucified to the world and the world to us. Those who are Christ's HAVE crucified the flesh, are crucified to the world and the world to them, resulting in bringing forth FRUIT. Only the last soil brought forth FRUIT. Only the NEW CREATURE can bring forth the fruit of the Spirit.

"... The seed is the word of God." (Luke 8:11)"
It is the word of God 'springing up.
The command is "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine". No where is it said that you will be prevented or coerced from doing so. You have to do it.
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock"
He who "do it", who do not make a practice of sinning (1 John 3:9), "who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit", He will see his fruit on a mature tree:
"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."
---Nana on 9/6/13|
Steven, the parable of the Sower nowhere says that any of them were Christians, or genuine believers already. You imply they were. You did not understand the parable.
"But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop, some, hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty" (Matt. 13:8). Genuine believers always produce good fruit, and they endure to the end.
Second, when He was asked why He spoke in parables He answered
"Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive" and He turns and tells the disciples,
"But blessed are your eyes for they see and your ears for they hear.." Believers have spiritual eyes and ears.
---Mark_V. on 9/6/13|
Mark_V.: "Genuine Christians never lose their true love."
Hae you not read the warnings to christians about backliding? Even in the OT it talks about backsliding. Have you not read the Parable of the Sower? It says that some seeds fell on stoney places and some fell into thorns. These two seeds (christians) received the word of God joyously but were short lived or was caught in the desires of the world. Most christians today fall into one or the other. In today's world, it's easy to be distracted by worldly things and desires or by tribulations and persecutions. When things don't go their way they fall away from the faith.
---Steveng on 9/5/13|
"And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."
I would not for one second entertain the idea that our Lord would be speaking of other than this so called 'true love'.
Why, our Lord would otherwise say and 'the fake love of many shall wax cold'. Even if that were the case, He would be saying that the 'fake love' will dwindle on account on iniquity?
No. Here is to whom He is addressing and of whose love He spoke of:
"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."
If you said believers, you were right.
---Nana on 9/5/13|
Steven, I believe your remarks that true Christians lose their true love is very wrong. Jesus Christ is our true love. Genuine Christians never lose their true love. Or do they ever lose the love Christ has for them. If you see people that look like their losing their love it is because they were never really saved. And let me tell you there is many out there that are not saved and call themselves Christians. You believe this theory because you believe in the power of man over the power of God. The theory that man can come and go from God with their free will. They say, "I can leave if I want" If they believe that, they were never saved to began with.
---Mark_V. on 9/5/13|
Put your sword down dud. Let Gods' word deal with them If their in error the word will correct them. The word is a two edged sword if your judging it will judge u. But if you sowing the Gospel which is your job. There would not be all these Money hunger People pretending to love God.
---Bryan on 9/5/13|
Christians today have lost true love. They say they give money to the their denominational church or pay taxes to the government to help the poor. But how does one learn to love if one does not get personlly involved? In today's world, it's easier just to throw money at a problem, it keeps christians from getting personally involved.
Do an online KJV bible search for the words "one another," "each other," "comfort," and "encourag" to find how to actually apply love.
---Steveng on 9/4/13|
Catherine, you have some weird views. are you proud of your mega church? my little church keeps a weekly financial statement on display all the time. I love my small little church (75) is like a family. we all know each other and love each other.
---shira4368 on 9/4/13|
This is how I feel about the subject! EVERYTHING BELONGS TO GOD! So allow God to guide you in this and everything in this life. Thank you!
---catherine on 9/4/13|
"Money should be given anonymously when God tells you to give. Simple as that." A Servant - I am so glad you feel that way. I agree wholeheartedly.
---Rita_H on 9/4/13|
elder, thanks for the nice words. I like giving and I don't like receiving. you and sis jareldeen are the greatest friends I have.
---shira4368 on 9/4/13|
Well my church just released the financial projections this year and it is at 45 million dollars and yes it is awesome. By the way a mega church spends less as a percentage on buildings and staffing, we are at 66% and the remaining 33% goes to expansion of our ministries and other ministries.
Your church no matter how big should be a local ministry.
---Scott1 on 9/4/13|
Jed, what you say is very true, and the thing I do. At the present time, there is no way anyone can know what the money you send is use for. There is many people around us who are needy, who need help, clothes, and jobs. We can help if we know people that can hire them, or give food and clothes to. There is so much we can do close to home. There is wondeful organizations that do help world wide. The Word of Faith teachers have made the ministry of giving corrupt.
---Mark_V. on 8/6/13|
I rarely send money to other ministries that claim to help the needy. Why? Because there are plenty of needy individuals in my own community that need my help as much as anyone else! Why should I send money to a mega church where I have to ASSUME the money is being used appropriately instead of personally giving it to the needy myself where I KNOW the money is being spent appropriately? There are widows and fatherless in my own community who need my help too. My helping is a lot more efficient that way.
---Jed on 7/30/13|
Research a ministry's amount which goes to the cause specified and the amount to administration, (pastor) as well as the pastor's homes, jets, and bling. If someone like Rod Parsley calls. Say you are giving to a a better steward.
---Foxy_Houligan on 7/26/13|
Shirl, My wife and I know your attidute towards money and helping others. We have seen you in action. You don't just talk about it.
God knows also. We continue to pray His blessings on you.
---Elder on 7/26/13|
bro elder I always said money is just something that gets us thru life. I know a person who has acquired several million dollars and both her and her husband are so worried about their money and they are taking great strides to keep one daughter in law from getting it. they on the other hand cut corners in an effort to save money. this runs me nuts. they don't enjoy anything. makes me wonder if they will ever rest in peace. meanwhile this guy tells me I take too many pills. I told him almost all are vitamins, pro biotic and he don't have a clue. I can tell you I enjoy every cent I have and I like to help others.
---shira4368 on 7/26/13|
Money should be given anonymously when God tells you to give. Simple as that.
---A_servant on 7/25/13|
Grocery stores, gas stations, Wal-Mart, movie houses, you and the US Government want money.
Our problem is that we don't want to give unless we receive something.
If you are not receiving something from your church there is some reason. The church may have left Christ. You may have left Christ. You may have never known Christ. You might just need to get involved and do something in the Church.
Does anyone here want money?
Money is a tool that God gives us to serve Him. Be very careful how you use it.
---Elder on 7/25/13|
Hello, everyone. I agree!
Even smaller places, they NOT interested in God, no more. It's about money, entertainment or it's about politics, dinners, but No Time for God!
The Bible or even prayer!!!
I couldn't believe it, you know I was hurt, you know deep down but, you just praying maybe it will change, nope! I still get once in a while, TV evangelist ask money.. call me or send letters.

The American church has become an entertainment venue, no different than a movie theater. .....
Find a group of believers who get together to study the word of God and worship in spirit and in truth.
---John_Simon on 4/10/13
Then one would also have to say that the modern doctrines are part of the wide way highway, for this is one of the attractions to these churches. Tickling ears thing.
A couple of self elected preacher bible/answermen promote and scream here but,..... not truth.
Bring out the scriptural meat to eat...and suddenly they have left their false teeth at home. Ha.
The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
---Trav on 4/11/13|
The American church has become an entertainment venue, no different than a movie theater. You go there to get entertained for an hour or two and then you go home to live your life normally with no thought to God or Jesus. Get out of the institutional church! That is not of God! Ask yourself, if Jesus came to America on any given Sunday, would he go and quietly sit in a chair in your so-called "church"? Or would he do like he did in the temple so many years ago whipping the crap out of those who had turned the Holy temple into a place of commerce and overturning tables? Find a group of believers who get together to study the word of God and worship in spirit and in truth.

be ware of Mega Churches or any churches that always be asking for a lot of money, personally i think those churches are out for money if u ask me, Jesus said where there is two or three gathered in my name i am in the mist of them and Jesus blessings are free u don't have to pay one red penny, take my advice don't put your trust and money in those Mega churches put your trust in the Lord.
---Randy on 4/9/13|
For the mega churches Are there for your money
so they can live better than you, & they don't care for peoples souls.
---Lawrence on 8/7/10|
I am of the opinion that my main portion of my financial contribution goes to my local church followed by specific ministries I felt led, thus minimal or none to mega churches. THerefore I will not contribute to mega churches and ministries that always ask for money.
---john9866 on 3/23/08|
to jack - you asked a good question. these mega pastors do not answer these kinds of questions, but they shove the bible down your throat telling you to deny yourself, sacrifice or do not store treasures on earth. So hypocritical isn't it.
---mikehow on 3/6/08|
Now by allowing the poor people to give, trhey acxtually help them to release the divine provision of God in their life. 'read Mallachi, and read Jesus words upon giving. when poor peoiple give obeying God, He will open a door to prosperity. I know this, I preach this
---andy on 2/27/08|
I would prefer to help the local ministries, especially the smaller churches who are trying to do the work of God. It takes money to run them all.But I feel the mega churches are in a better position financially to reach further than smaller churches. But God blesses all that we do for him. The size of the church does not matter. I find that small churches are sometimes winning more souls and reaching out to others much more than the larger churches. God is pleased with that. I feel.
---Robyn on 2/26/08|
1. "Have you ever notice that the majority of the money they receive comes from those who are poor." I must say that the majority of churches that I have ever attended were/are the opposite of that statement. Church members and leaders should have their 'ears to the ground' and be aware of the needs of their members AND people in the locality of the church. Helping the sick and needy is a part of our witnessing. Matthew 25:40.
---RitaH on 2/26/08|
2. The messages coming from many 'prosperity movement' churches is totally unscriptural. I have no idea as to whether some of these church leaders are saved men who have lost their way, through greed, or whether they are 100% charlatans destined for hell, but whichever they are, they need our prayers as much as anyone else does, and so do the members of these churches who are regularly being fleeced.
---RitaH on 2/26/08|
IMHO mega churches are the religious concept of a country club in the name of God ...and they make 'mega-money' selling their 'soft-version of God' all their products (books activities food etc) ...they appeal to the masses who otherwise wouldn't attend church ...false prophets who preach glossed over watered down versions of Gods Word
2 Peter 2:1, 2 Corinthians 11:13
---Rhonda on 2/25/08|
Jack, it is true these Mega Churches are located in rich parts of town. Have you ever notice that the majority of the money they receive comes from those who are poor.
This is just another example of people using the poor as their prey and taking advantage of them for their own selfish gain.
---Rob on 2/25/08|
It's your money, send it where you want.
Just don't let anyone guilt you into sending it one particular place.
---Nancy on 2/15/08|
I will tell you what I believe now, on this: Listen up. Or look up. You need to get together with God who owns your money and ask Him. And until you do pray about it, hold on to your money. Now, if you don't pray about it and you hold on to it, you are in sin. And God does not look down upon selfish people with favor. Did you get all of that?
---catherine on 2/12/08|
My question would be these: Are you paying your tithe to your own local church or fellowship, first? Is that Mega church Effectively Spreading the Gospel of Salvation? Are they Mission Minded? Do they help you grow? Do they fill any part of the Isaiah 61-commission? Do YOU?
---Tim on 2/12/08|
These Mega Churches/Ministires claim to be preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but what they are preaching is a different Gospel than what is found in Scripture. Galatians 1:4-10.
---Rob on 2/11/08|
Hard to say. They sound so legitamate when asking for money to further the gospel. It would probably be better to share with your local church.Even then the local church never give an account of what they do with the money, most times. Take part of the money and directly help the poor and needy in your area. There is a lot of kingdom work to do right in your neighborhood. You will know then how it is being used.
---Robyn on 2/11/08|
Mega churches want money. Small churches need money. A big difference. Greeds should not be fed.Only needs. But some small church are doing more kingdom work than the mega churches. Size can fool you sometimes.
---Robyn on 2/11/08|
Yes they should sponsor these Mega-churches
No they should not give theire tithes to those Mega churches, unless they are worshipping there.
defenately they have to sponsor these small local churches.
when one gives it is not to men, it is to God and his work.
---Andy on 2/11/08|
What you see on TV are two dimensional people having TV personalities. People who give money to these TV evangelists send money because of their TV personalities. If you ever met any of these people in person they have a completely different personality than on TV. Your money should be given to the poor and needy by you or your local place of worship. Then you know for sure how your moeny is being spent.
---Steveng on 2/10/08|
Share with those in need. Support the ministry that feeds you, spiritually speaking of course. Giving into the need of A local ministry that ministers to the need of your community would, of course, be preferable to suppling what may be the greed and superfluity of the "mega-church"
---joseph on 2/10/08|
All kindness, in all forms (including money) should be given to those who need it.
---Ryan_Z on 2/8/08|
I've noticed that these mega-churches that preach holy prosperity are NEVER to be found in the poor parts of town, but always in rich white suburbs.
Why is that?
