Where I attend is different - I would only actually avoid a place where the worship of other gods was happening. Anything satanic, Buddhist temples, Mosques, Mary worshiping. But I wouldn't be afraid to walk in them to pray for them.
I'd avoid JW, LDS or Christian Science places too but again - only if I'd be included in their worship

Rita..Thanks for clarifying. The buildings that you mentioned are places I would have no reason to enter as they are Satan's territory. Buildings which house a large supply of idols are places I also don't want to go.

john, the scripture you are referring to has a specific meaning. I do not believe it fits your generalization.
---Ryan_Z on 2/19/08|
Susie, yes I was referring to buildings but was actually wondering about who would enter 'places of worship' (deliberately hightlighted like that) that Christians would not usually accept worshipped the same God. I was thinking of mosques, hindu temples, Kingdom Halls etc. I would personally not wish to enter one EVER, not even as a sightseer or for a wedding etc. Would any of you do that or would you avoid such places totally?

While not the only place of worship buildings must have some importance to God. He designed the first two houses of worship for His chosen people.

No, Bob. I confess I followed your footprints to this thread. You are misquoting the Bible. Ephesians 6 actually. It is wrestling with SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS (in high places). That should let you know we are not talking about Mormons, JWs, or any other silly little cult. We are talking about some people who hold a LOT of power. Not people with the odd resentment not even demon infested idol-worshippers. It refers to particular people IN POWERFUL RELIGIOUS PLACES.

there is a since that our bodies are a temple 1 Cor 3:16 but in another since we are part of THE Body which is also a temple 1 Cor 16:12-27. we are commanded in Heb 10:24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
the question at hand is who can you let yourself assemble with.

Are you referring to buildings? Some religious buildings have never been "places of worship" and never will be. I would not agree that a Christian can worship the Lord with anyone, at any time, and anywhere. We cannot worship the Lord in Satan's territory or with Satan's people. The worst thing any church can do is try to find something with which they can find "unity" with another group that teaches false doctrine. A lot of that is happening today.

RyanZ. Seeing that you think buildings are lifeless things where God does not dwell, I would assume that you only worship God outside? Don't you think that wherever 2 or 3 are gathered there he is in our midst? Couldn't that also include inside a building?

I agree with Rebecca about church attendance. Also about on line organizations who advertizze that they are christian, but who include all sects on their web sites. So one gets to see things from the muslims, new agers, etc.
---Laura on 2/18/08|
Aren't our bodies the temples where we should worship in spirit and truth? Buildings are dead and lifeless places where God does not dwell, and in my opinion a waste of time.

A place that was pretended to be " Christian" and
Didn't Acknowledge these Principles.
A. Authourity of God's Word,
B. Diety of the Messiah, Jesus.
C. Sin and the consequece of Hell from it.
D. God' "Excellent Greatness", Sinlessness, Righteousness, and Holliness.
E. Creation of an initially perfect world and universe.
F. Impending White Throne + Bema-Judgement
G. God's enabling His children to do likewise.

I can worship the Lord with anyone, anywhere at anytime. But if the church lets sin rule the pews it will rule the pulpit. I won't go to a church where the Pastor has no backbone and will let people live however they please, then go behind the pulpit to preach or teach or sing.
---Rebecca_D on 2/18/08|
Anything pop-evangelical or sedevacantist.
---Jack on 2/18/08|
The place where the adulterer ministers are teaching, singing, leading the worship.
We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but PLACES. Unseen places, war in the heavenlies, wickedness in PLACES.
---Bob on 2/18/08|
I avoid places that have CHURCH instead of having WORSHIP. Many people have been decieved into believing the CHURCH is a building they go to on Sunday Mornings.
I avoid places where people are elevated and worshiped in the place of the Lord. These place are only about hype, pagentry and putting on a big show.
