Died As An Diabetic
In the press here today we have a report of a couple whose daughter gradually got weaker and weaker over a month, did not take her to a doctor, just prayed until she fell into a coma and died. It turned out she was diabetic. Comments?
Moderator - The parents should have prayed, fasted and brought the child to the doctor.

They messed up..badly..and I am sure they will live with their mistake for the rest of their life....and the scorn of the Fundamental church.

I think if as Christians we really were as close and right with God as we are supposed to be, filled REAL faith in God and with His Power, we could pray, or call the elders to come and pray, or those with gifts of healing and the sick would be healed, and the dead would be raised back to life as it says would be.

These people are a good example of victums dooped by false teaching. I do hope that the little girls death will stand as a testimony to others who follow mans doctrines in these last days:). I also pray that the parents become strong witnesses for the Lord and not angry at God. I am sure the little girl is in a better place:).

If people pray for healing, how long should they wait before they go to see a doctor?
---StrongAxe on 5/12/08|
The parents did not make a wise decision. They indirectly caused their daughters death. God gave doctors the knowledge and skill that they have. We are to seek treatment when needed along with prayer. We should ask for godly wisdom from God.

I do not consider it giving God orders.HE is GOD.I think if I'm ill 2-3 days and no better maybe even worse that God is letting me know I need to see a doctor but I like to pray first.

Some parents have been jailed for letting children die from lack of medical help. Christian Scientists believe in this way-no doctors!
My sister who is now 62 has juvenile Diabetes. They diagnosed her when she was 3 years old. Its a miracle she's still alive. She also has 4 children which Dr's told her she never could do! She had both hips and knees replaced, she is in pain 24/7. She has Fibromyalgia, Rhemetoid and Osteo Arthritis among other constant complications from meds and Diabetes.

Shirley ... the deterioration went on for a few weeks as the girl gradually became weaker. It took much longer than 2 days!

**They should have prayed and given God 2 days to answer.**
In my experience, Shirley, God doesn't relish being handed deadlines.

How cruel! They don't love their child and should be prosecutted. They should have prayed and given God 2 days to answer. Then if no improvement taken her to a doctor. The child couldn't take care of herself.I believe in prayers and miracles and if I choose not to go I'm an adult but we have to use wisdom. They must have belonged to a cult.

We can't move God with inaction by calling it faith. God equiped us with a brain to reason with and the abilty to move to find answers for our life's problems, including doctors for sickness. Faith doesn't mean we'll always get big miracles, faith is believing in spite of the fact we didn't get a big miracle.

I think the parents were neglectful and irresponsible. Our children are our greatest gift and they didn't do anything to protect and nourish that gift. Don't get me wrong, prayer is a powerful thing, but that doesn't mean you prevent your child the medical treatment he/she needs.

Let me tell some of you out there that profess to know God, Theres a story of a good shepered that gave his life for a friend he didn't say that friend was faithful, had great health/saved he said it was a friend. So remember these people are friends no one is asking you for nide remarks Christ is asking you to show love / commpassion on one who is less fortunate than yourselves. How did you feed HIS SHEEP are you a sheep or a GOAT?.

It turned out after she died that shwe had diabetes.
She just got weaker & weaker, and in spite of friend neighbours and grandparents appealing to the parents to call a doctor, they would not.
She was not a baby, more than a toddler.
I think we ought to listen to the God that says "I gave you two good hands. Get a pair of tweezers and don't be so lazy"

---Bill_bila5659 on 3/30/08 -- in your post, you question whether this girl "enabled" diabetes to kill her because of her weight. Before making such sweeping comments, especially in a Christian setting, please do more to educate yourself. Diabetes is about a lot more than weight.
---MAF on 3/31/08|
A deacon in the church I attended as a child used to say that he could pray about a splinter in his finger. God would say, "I gave you two good hands. Get a pair of tweezers and don't be so lazy." Still makes sense. What we can do, we do. What we can't do, God does.

Very tragic . . .
I'm curious if the diabetes was genetic autoimmune type 1 which effects a child soon after birth and does not usually involve major overweight problems.
Or, was she type 2, who would have had to gain a lot of weight, first, in order to "enable" the diabetes to kill her? In this case, her *own* "fasting" could have kept her at a safe weight.

Phil.4:5-6 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand: ...in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Sounds like they adhered to verse 6 but not to verse 5!
Everyone prays for a miracle but it is their lack of belief that keeps them from seeing the miracles of God's Word. When we believe and come to the realization that God's Word works through the hands of all men, we will see our miracle!

It is wonderful that people rely on God for their illness. But even God wants us to use common sense. He gave men and women the knowledge to learn about the human bodies and how it works. If it hadn't been for my Urologist seeing that my right kidney wasn't functioning (that the ER missed) I would have died. There is nothing wrong with depending on God, but there is no sense in anyone not seeing a good Doctor for health reasons.

So amny times I've heard this story My auntie is dead just 2yrs after the same fate, and I think this really does call for not only re-education but a reality checK for these faith healers, prayer warriors whom do not understand the the FACT that LUKE yer blessed Luke the Apostle was a ''PHYSICIAN''.

A dear friend of mine preached so hard about prayer only and Guess what He himself stumbled in the path of the said illness, refused to take his meds and was very, very ill unto death, when I asked him why he said I wouldn't undrestand don't know if it was the sure fate of my story which lead him finally to give the knowledge God gave man for Meds/Insulin that eventually saved his life. How many righteous men are amongst us that pray and instantly were healed their VERY Scarce IGNORANCE KILLS.

There have been a lot of similar incidents in the USA. Kids with: cancer, diabetes, kidney failure, etc. The parents believed in only prayers for healing. NO doctors. The kids ended up dying.
I don't mean to sound judgmental, but I think that the parents were being irresponsible.
GOD gave us human beings the ability to make decisions. When the health of a child is involved, parents should decide to seek whatever treatment is available. That includes BOTH prayers and doctors.

Going to the doctor is sometimes more dangerous than not. There are so many deaths from improper medical attention it's no wonder people don't want to go. These people trusted in prayer and in God. Are there other instructions in the Bible, like going to a doctor?

I, too, have diabetes--and now, as a result, chronic renal (kidney) disease.
At one time my creatinine level was as high as 3.7... and at my last lab, it was 1.6 (cut-off from high normal is 1.5). And my GFR has improved from 19% to 40%
I've been anointed several times for this, so
God is in the process of working a miracle. I'm not worried. He has all the time in the world to heal me.

It may have been in US media, because it happened in Wisconsin.
