1 Cor.15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you THE Gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand, 2 By which also ye are SAVED,if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have BELIEVED in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you FIRST of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, 4 and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

the gospel is Gennisi eulogia: "For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulder: and His name will be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." Isaiah 9:6+ Luke 2:11.

That Jesus Christ has come to seek and save that which was lost. That he has paid the price for our salvation, and that we can receive it by faith, in his finished work. That he took our sins on himself, at Calvary, that we could go free. This is the good news, of the gospel of the Kingdom.

Catherine :: kindly let me add tothe Gen3:15 theory It is not only Jesus and satan but Jesus and Mary and Their followers (Offspring) against those who do not believe Jesus teachings and inadvertantly take the side of Satan,(His Offspring) followers by way of opposing Jesus doctrines as taught in "My Church"Jesus church.Matt16:17-19
Canda7893:: I do have to commend you on your post which is every bit TRUE.Congratulations and blessings.:-}

The gospel is Power. God's power. Includes storms that the media keeps calling "mother nature", which really does make my blood boil over.
---catherine on 6/24/08

The Gospel is Gods word read throughout the bible. His son Jesus Christ is the one that came down to help explain, teach, give the word.So he taught the disciples whom then taught others & given down throughout history. the gospel is more then the books Matthew,Mark,Luke,John & the rest of the NT. It is also the OT as well learning from the old prophets God has chosen. We must remember Gods kingdom will eventually restore the new earth & new heavens & his son will reign as king, & we,Gods children will be there.
---canda7893 on 6/24/08

It's the good news that Christ came to save whoever believes on Jesus! Simple, but profound.
---John on 6/5/08

Genesis 3:15 was the first gospel [known as Proto-Evangel].>>>"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed, He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise Him on the heel." Scripture means this:---"And there will be intense hatred between Satan and Christ. Eventually Christ will crush the head of Satan, while suffering a heel wound in the process".

Steveng, then how does one obey the gospel and enter the kingdom of God and has that kingdom been established? According to your previous blog about the "rapture" you led everyone to believe that the kingdom has not been established. Based on that previous posting I knew what you were looking for when you posed this question about the gospel. I made a post that was not posted, it stated that your answer would be the least acceptable because you believed the kingdom has not been established.
---Tom on 5/8/08

The Gospel: the Kingdom of God. Jesus did not come to talk about himself, but of the Father, His Kingdom and how to get there. So most of you have been listening to a different gospel. This tells me something of what today's Christians think. Go ahead and search an online bible for the phrase "kingdom of God" and read the verses in context.

Gospel=Good News, The Good News is That Jesus
the Lamb of God was Born, Was Sacrificed(shed his Blood for sins of man), Rose from the Dead & will Return for us, giving us the Same Hope of Life everlasting with Him & God.

Take that up with God.

Jesus cared for all, lived for all, died for all, and now reigns over all. And, everyone who calls on his name will be saved.
Now we are all one in Christ Jesus.
Paul says, You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ. There is neither Jew not Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal.3:26ff

Jesus defines the gospel in Luke 4:18-19: to proclaim freedom for the prisoners, sight for the blind, release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. Because of God's favor, we can now all become children of God through faith in His son.
John 1:12 states, to all who received him(Christ), to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." Mankind is to be unified through Jesus.

Gospel means the Good News. Which Jesus is the Good News of bring us Salvation- Himself. Gospels are the texts that tell us about Jesus life, Death and Resurrection in the New Testament. The rest of the 23 texts are letters from St Paul and other followers of Jesus to diffirent churches and members.
---Nicole on 4/21/08

I have a suggestion to make this more interesting.

When you are posting to other blogs suggest them to come to this blog to post their idea of the gospel (not what the word "gospel" means).

The heart of the gospel is the Cross and the Resurrection.>>>All of history hangs on this, and a disservice to the gospel is done if the centrality of Jesus' death on the cross is ever minimized. 2. The gospel is not just a body of information but rather the POWER of GOD for salvation through the C and R. 3. By the cross and resurrection God undid the sin of Adam and the curse brought on all creation. 4. Jesus has been raised, and all who believes [the new birth a must] shall also be raised.
---catherine on 4/21/08

"Gospel" comes from an old word meaning, "Good Spiel", that is the good speech or glad tidings that Jesus the Salvation has come. The gospel is: Worship and obey Jesus saves the sinuous life. Please Read- Romans 10:13.

"What is the Gospel?" In the words of Jesus "The kingdom of God is at hand. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached unto all the world for a witness unto all nations. The kingdom of God is within you." What is the kingdom of God? The reign of His Spirit within as one humbly submits oneself to the empowerment of His Christ. Go therefore My disciples and teach all nations to observe all that I have commanded you. Lo, I Am with you always, [even] unto the end of the world.

Steveng, So did Jesus not come to set the captives free by dying on the cross and shedding His blood for our sins? So am I not forgiven? Actually, I must stop assuming everyone knows Jesus rose from the dead and His resurrection power lives in us through the Holy Spirit. "Ye shall receive power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you." So please forgive me, I assume people know Jesus rose from the dead. My mistake. Good point Steveng.
---donna8365 on 4/18/08

May I say one more thing? Thank you. If only God's people would tell people, "Hey, you are forgiven," I truly believe in my heart of hearts, that forgiveness power would draw people unto the Lord to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Then we can get into the whole message of the gospel, amen?
---donna8365 on 4/18/08

The definition of gospel is indeed "good news" the gospel of Jesus Christ is, the death, burial, and ressurection of Jesus Christ, that is what the good news is all about. Salvation comes from the sacrifice made by Christ. The fact that he left his home in heaven to come here for me is is more than I could have ever hoped for.

"So far no one has the right answer." ---Steveng. The gospel of God and Christ is indeed the good news of John 3:16. Solidified and confirmed through the witness of the following verse. "Grace be to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for our sin, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father. To whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen." Gal. 1:3-5. Receive no other gospel.

The Gospel - Pure and simple:
1 Corinthians 15:2-4

2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,

4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
---Gophylann on 4/16/08

I'm very disappointed in you folks. Not surprised, but disappointed. So far no one has the right answer.

It's no wonder Christians don't agree on anything, they can't even agree on the simple gospel. This surely isn't of one mind.

Who you like to search the scriptures again to find the truth?
---Steveng on 4/16/08

Good News, that is the meaning of the word, "Gospel". Normally when a person thinks of the Four Gosels as Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. But in reality, all of the Bible can be considerd Good News since it deals with with God, Christ, the resurrection, life and death, etc. There are various Koine Greek words that are used in different locations of the Bible, but we translate them as "Gospel".

There is BUT one Gospel!
If anyone comes to you with any other Gospel,
Hearken not unto their words and don't bid them Godspeed Lest you become a partaker of their Sins!
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 4/14/08

I disagree.there is only one gospel.the gospel of jesus christ.all the writings within are about his ministry,or salvation through nim.there is no gospel of paul.even when the word gospel is given to one as matthew, mark, luke, and john, these in reality still only the good news about ITS ALL ABOUT JESUS.
---tom2 on 4/14/08

The Gospel is God's power! In the Old Testament it was power by which God brought Israel out of Egypt. In the New Testament is the Resurrection of Jesus. >>>[I have seen Him]. >>>The Greek word for "power" is dunamis, from which two words come: [1] Dynamite-destructive power, and [2] Constructive power. The gospel of Christ is both [2 Corinthians 2:16].>>> More

the gospel,it,s life, its truth, its the message of salvation thru repentence, and knowing who jesus is.actually the knowing who jesus comes first, then realizing you need him second, and finally realizing who and what you are without him.NOTHING.

There are three gospels in the NT. One is Paul's, one is Jesus' and the third is the 'gospel of (about) the Kingdom of Heaven that is to be preached to the world.

Jesus came to this earth as a human being, yet is God's own Son who is God. He left Heaven itself in order to come here to reach us personally and rescue us from sin and the cruel hateful oppression of Satan and this evil world's kingdom. In order to do this, Jesus died for us so we would not suffer the punishment for our own sins. So, Jesus is not conceited, if He left Heaven itself for us and died and suffered like that. And He rose from the dead in order now rule us for our own good (o:
