Mostly He Had Done Right

Yesterday while witnessing a man told me that he would go to heaven, because MOSTLY he had done right. He had not killed anyone nor taken drugs. He was not a bad person. In your opinion will God accept this?

In my opinion, NO. The bible says that we are to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and was crucified for our sins and on the third day He rose again. You cannot just "be good" and get to heaven. I think a lot of people are deceived by thinking that. You must give you whole heart to Christ. Please speak to that man and suggest reading to gospel with him.

Catherine ... So even if a person hears the Message, and accepts it, and asks Jesus to save him, and ... and ... ... If God doesn't want that person, he won't get to heaven.
---alan_of_UK on 7/6/08

In my opinion? I don't have one. I tell you the truth. You can not be too good and go to heaven. You can not be too bad and go to heaven. If God wants you to be in heaven you will be. And if He don't you won't.>>>A few among the chosen will be.

SS_ I've always said that the Flaming sword & the Voice that Constitine heard Was Satan as a Angel of Light.
Satan seeing that he Was'nt getting ANYWHERE by Just trying to kill US off: Cruxifiction,Human Torches,Fed to the Beast of the Field ECT. ect. ect., So he did the Next best thing Joined US and Brought in MANY LIES W/Him!
Unfortunatly Christians BACK then, were ALL to eager to Except it, Just think, NO MORE being fed to Lions & such, And Ceaser is a Christian NOW, COOL!, NOT!!!

Dudley: Good for you! The whole sticking point in our day is whether we will keep the 4th Commandment as given or move it to the 1st day instituted dogmaticly by the papacy in the 3rd century by no command of scripture or whether we will keep God's Mark of Authority above Rome's.
---SeventhSeal on 4/24/08

SS_I guess i've been keeping it as intended all along and did'nt even know it!
God don't lie, Their NOT to grevious to bare(do)!
This should be a piece of cake, 1 god, Don't kill people,No stealing, Honor my mom & dad, ect. ect..

The only way a person can become one of God's children's is for that person to be saved by the blood of the Lamb of God. God looks at the heart of each person and with that heart he knows you, the thoughts before they come to your mind. Bottom line don't play games with God. He sees the heart and if the heart is pure, he smiles. but if the heart has some dirty spots, almost clean. God looks at that and frowns. How clean is your heart?
---Rebecca_D on 4/23/08

Dudley: Exodus Chapter 20 tells you how to Keep the 4th Commandment. If you keep it that way then your righteousness will exceed that of the Pharisees who heaped all kinds of man-made encumberences upon God's 4th Commandment making it a burden rather than a delight. 24 hours no work for hire with the day devoted to serving and studying God and His Word without intereference from the world. Keep the Faith Man.

The statement made by Martin
"Works before you come to Jesus MEANS nothing,
Works after you've come to know Jesus Means Everything".
Should cause every Christian to examine themselves as to what they are doing to enlarge the kingdom.

SS_Yes in 1 I do offend, To what extent I know not.
Like i said i don't know all the ways of Keeping it Holy.
So i pray, fast & read the Bible,No T.V, try to block out the world, except if i'm replying to a blog that day.(ha ha ha)
He knows my Heart & that i'm trying to keep it Holy, And like i also said, He said when he comes back he'll Teach us His way's...
I think that my Righteousness Exceeds that of the pharisees of Old on that one.God knows!

Duane_Dudley_Martin: "The only one I have a problem with keeping is the sabbath day."

Ah, yes. The Sabbath debate. What would happen if you decided not to obey the sabbath commandment and you were wrong? It's better to be safe than sorry, eh? Besides, Christians need the Sabbath more today than any time in history. Christians today fill up every minute of every day with activities, but never enough time to walk and talk with God.
---Steveng on 4/22/08

Dudley: So you Keep 9 yet offend on only one point. Why Keep 9 at all since one may arbitrarily extract #4 from the Tables of Stone? Lets get rid of #10 also? Yet the 4th is declared the test of obedience in Scripture.

We know Christ Authored the 10 Commandments. He "Created all things" per John Ch1. His Commandments are the 10 Commandments. Many confuse the sabbath sacrificial feast ordinances with the 7th Day Commadment and pluck it out as the "least of these Commandments"

Works before you come to Jesus MEANS nothing,
Works after you've come to know Jesus Means Everything!
In fact coming to Jesus IS your 1st WORK(act) of Faith, Just like Abrahams Work(act) of Faith when he Believed God, Your 2nd Work(act) Should be getting Baptised.
Your 3rd Should be to Labor in "The Word" of God.
Feeding & clothing others is a work, Teaching, Preaching ect. ect. is a Work.
Good works that are exceptable to our Father.
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 4/22/08

Yes, SS I do keep his C's.
The only one I have a problem with keeping is the sabbath day.
There is to many things that pertain to that day, AND I DON"T want to be as the Jews were way back when.
The Bible says he will show us HIS ways when he returns.
So I'm going to do my best with what I have, And leave the rest up to him.

I apologize to you. I read you're post as saying that Mima's leading in the sinners prayer would'n't be accepted (her post just before yours). After re reading I see that you may have been answering the initial question.

You do not have to work to get to heaven. John 3:16. However, what you do will be judged. Mima DID do right & that will be accepted according to John 3:16.
---Chip on 4/22/08

Jesus said, "'It is written in the prophets, "And they shall all be taught by God." Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.'" (John 6:45) So, I'd say if a person really has "learned from the Father", God Himself has personally taught the person . . . not just about "saved by grace", but how to love and all Jesus in His Sermon on the Mount says He expects of ones who come to Him.
---Bill_bila5659 on 4/22/08

But there are people who just do a *work* of saying a sinner's prayer. The work of a copy-cat prayer recitation won't do it. We will be judged by our works. "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only." (James 2:24) > works done in submission with God in His love which justifies us while having us do His works > His love cures us so we are right . . . justified . . . while we are doing works in this love, like fresh air making us healthy while we work in fresh air (o:

Chip_John wrote it, NOT me!
John says in his Book of Rev.
that the Dead will be Judged,
"ACCORDING to their WORKS" that are written in the Little books then the Book of Life is opened to see if their name is written within it, WHO are YOU or me to say OTHERWISE?

Dudley: Do the Doers of the Word Keep the Commandments of God?
---SeventhSeal on 4/21/08

John 14
Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man cometh to the Father except by me." There is NO OTHER way to heaven without realizeing that you are a sinner and that Messiah died for your sins and accepting his free gift of salvation.
---Gophylann on 4/21/08

John 3:16 tells all you need. You did everything perfectly, just as Jesus ask us to do. The Holy Spirit will do the rest.

DDMartin, "Not by works, lest any man should boast". Why must you always try to complicate & condemn?

1 Peter 4:
17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that OBEY NOT the gospel of God?

18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Matt. 7:
21 NOT EVERY ONE that saith unto me, LORD, LORD, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that DOETH the will of my Father which is in heaven.

These are your Lords OWN words, Take heed to Them...
---Duane_Dudley_Martin on 4/21/08

Only the Doer's of "The Word" shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, Not, the Hearer's Who Justify themselves W/O The Blood of Jesus covering their Sins.
According to Rev. 20:12 & 13
Every Man WILL be Judged "ACCORDING to their Works" that have been written down in the Little Books.
The Bride Don't take part in this, They've been given crowns and was Deemed Worthy to Escaped the things to come(Rapture/Marriage Sup.)

---donna8365 I told him the Bible says "whosoever shall call upon the name Lord shall be saved". I then ask him do you want to call on the name of the Lord for your salvation. To which he replied yes. I then led him in a sinners pray. We shook hands with smiles and he left understanding that God had saved him.

No. Did you tell him ALL have sinned and fell short of the Glory of God? Did you tell him one sin is as bad as another? Like murder is as bad as stealing. Did you tell him it's not by works, but by Gracehave ye been saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Did you tell him God wouldn't accept his answer because they are incorrect.
