You can have full trusting faith/confidence that God is able to rescue you from bad times, but, you see...that's really not a Godly nature (selfishly caring only about yourself).

There are already millions of families who have lost their homes, their children can no longer receive the education that the parents had always dreamed of, millions can no longer retire and have "golden years", millions can no longer get the medication they need, families might already be living in cars or homeless shelters. I find this DEPRESSING (I am "poor in spirit" about it, not INDIFFERENT).

Well, you know the old saying,..."Blessed are the poor in spirit..." (Matthew 5:3, the present inner heaven, Rev. 21:1).

My parents survived the Great Depression of the 1930s. We'll all survive the next one whenever it comes. Jesus said not to worry about tomorrow. So don't worry.

Of course the economic downturn is affecting our family - but not as bad as some. As faith missionaries, (retired) learned than there were things we could down size or do without - without feeling like we were sacrificing. We experienced the end of The Great Depression, and this helped. The sad thing is many people below 40 really don't don't know how to downsize or do without un-necessary items. For example: know of a case where one person was refused a loan for a new Hummer because of bad credit. He just couldn't understand that. He had already max out all his credit cards, but still wanted to buy more. We are in, "I want it now" society - regardless of what it means in the future.

Hey, I got more of nothing now than ever before. So, I feel I am doing better.
Seriously we worry about things we cannot change and still leave God out.
Our country may very well have to be brought to our knees just to remember where our "Manna" comes from.

Well, the Bible says, "you do not know what will happen tomorrow," in James 4:14. So, it doesn't matter how things are made to look. God is the One who knows. And Jesus says "'But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.'" (Matthew 6:33) The people of this world are being used by Satan to play us and our emotions about what happens to money, so our attention is decoyed and aborted and perverted away from God. And then we are weak enough, in our worrying and hurrying and scurrying, so Satan can control us. So, make sure you obey how the Holy Spirit guides your attention in His peace and goodness of joy (o:

Moderator - this is why Psalm 91 is so important for Christians to put inside their hearts and renew their minds with this Psalm. If you are dwelling in the secret place of the Most High God, and ABIDING under the shadow of the Almighty, you will say of the Lord, He is your Fortress, Your God in Him will you trust.

God will protect and provide His own, the others will need to repent to get into the fold. Repent ye therefore and bring forth fruit in keeping with repentence. Show you're sorry for your sins by bringing forth the fruit of the Holy Spirit, Love, peace, joy, kindness, etc.,

On the bright side...I can fill up my car with gas for $2.90 a gallon and the price keeps dropping.

Would you believe I'm prospering during this time? In 1990 I put my 401K money into a fixed interest rate account instead of stocks and I'm still getting interest.I am waiting for my inheritance from my father's estate.

I have a good, sound job that is secure because I'm in the Pharmaceutical industry and all of my credit cards are paid in full.
I only have one loan. It's a car loan and I only have $8,990 left to pay on it.
I am praying for the families and individuals who are struggling and would be glad to help them out. I am bringing food down to the homeless and handing out dollar bills to them. I'm also cleaning out my closets and giving away NEW clothes and I just gave away two TV's.

yes my job has been cut to 30 hours with the possibility of being cut even more. but as you have said God will provide "Jehovah Jireh" this is just the start though of how bad things wiil really get, we may come back up slightly but if you read your Bible it says that this is the way it will be before the Lords return. Every one, just remember to trust the Lord, he will carry us through until the end. but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

You think the economy is bad now? Well, just wait until our military is so weak it can't fight off a fly from a bowl of soup.
---Elder on 10/9/08

Elder's right,

And to expand my first answer, there are many far worse off tham me.

Whoa, we have been in distress for so long I didn't realize that there was an economic problem. But guess what, God always provides.
Since 1964 our Government has been writing blank checks now it is time to pay up. People fail to realize that because the Government prints more money that doesn't mean it has any value.
The time is coming when people will have to spend a bushel of money to get a handful of beans.
The Lord has been left out of our finances for so long what could we expect?
Hey, ask pre-WWII Germany.
---Elder on 10/9/08

Yes ... prices in the UK are rocketing.

But my pension is fixed.
