10,000 Saved In Philippines

Four men (I did not go) on a mission trip to the Philippines in 12 days heard and saw over 10,000 people openly and sincerely pray for their salvation. Meetings were held and high schools in public parks. They used the easy sinners prayer method. Can this possibly be correct?

\\I see all these people saying that God did not save any of these 10,000 to whom the gospel was preached to them.\\

My point is that there is a big difference between what YOU mean by being saved and what the BIBLE means by being saved.

This event happened 18 months ago.

How are these 10,000 doing today? Remember the parable Jesus told about those who received the word with joy, but had no root and so didn't last.
---Cluny on 7/31/10

I see all these people saying that God did not save any of these 10,000 to whom the gospel was preached to them.
I tell you now, it is not what they did, but if they believed and repented in their hearts for that is what God sees.
There is not one person here that can say with any surety that God has not saved any of these especially since His Word does not come back to Him void.
All it takes is His Word and God does the rest. Some plant or sow the Word to new soil, Some water to ensure the Word is planted, but it is God that gives the increase. We often do not know whether we are planting or watering, yet God works it toward good.
---micha9344 on 7/31/10

I do not know.Only God knows who answered his calling. Just because you go to the alter call doesn't make you saved. It's answering Gods calling & being baptized & then following the call. Maybe out of the 10,000 maybe 1%-5% of them honestly got saved w/o pressure from others. We donot need to keep stats, only God should record the numbers.
---candice on 7/30/10

First of all this event was a total sham as one one but no one got saved. The Sinners prayer is not worth a bucket of warm spit.

Any salvation was God initiated prior to creation. All you can do is make people aware that God may have chosen them to be in his family and their odds are a lot better than wining the Jack Pot in any lottery.
---Friendly_Blogger on 7/30/10

Dead works.

That's all this is.

(Well, wouldn't people say the same thing if an unknown African tribe of 10,000 was baptized by Catholic or Orthodox missionaries?

(Sauce for the goose...)
---Cluny on 7/30/10

Jesus told this man Matt.19 v's 16 & 18 - 21.
This Also includes the previous reply. It All works together for salvation.

Salvation isn't this here Matt.19 v's 16 & 18 - 21 by itself, even with faith scriptures. But the Man - made trin relig org's try to make it so. It will Not.
---Lawrence on 7/30/10

Lawrence....I am asking you....what do you have to do to inherit eternal life?
---JIM on 7/30/10

Jesus told Nicodemus & Jesus tells us ALL, you must be born again born of water & of The Spirit. Mark 16 v 16, Acts 2 v's 37 - 41 which Fulfills Matt.28 v's 19 - 20. Matt.24 v 13.

You read from Matt.28 v 19 to the end of Jude, there's No one No where, was any one found in the N - Testament scriptures that was baptized in the titles Father - Son & Holy spirit.

They all were baptized in The name of The Lord & The name of The Lord Is Jesus Christ.
---Lawrence on 7/30/10

Lawrence...answer this simple question then:
What do you have to do to inherit eternal life?
---JIM on 7/30/10

James 2 v 20.
You take All the faith scriptures & they go along with Mark 16 v 16, Acts 2 v's 57 - 41 which Fulfills Matt.28 v's 19 - 20, even Matt.24 v 13.

That's the prob with the devil 2nd.Cor.11 v's 14 - 15 with the Man - made trin relig org's churches beginning with the rcc, they take a faith scripture or 2 & make a salvation doctrine out of it, & it will NOT work that way. They are trying to make it work here John 10 v 1.
---Lawrence on 7/29/10

The devil & the Man - made trin relig org's churches beginning with the rcc from here 2nd.Cor.11 v's 14 - 15 started these Man - made salvation teachings of easy believism, no works salvation, the sinners prayer, d - bed repentance etc.

God has Nothing to do with such.
---Lawrence on 7/29/10 are trying to muddy up the gospel by adding requirements on top of what Jesus has done.
Jesus said "that whosoever believes in Him",
(not whoever believes ,is obedient gets baptized) is saved....."but whosoever believes in Him has eternal life.
Salvation is Absolutely free to the beliver.

1Sam 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature, because I have refused him: for [the LORD seeth] not as man seeth, for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
-We do not know which of the 10k were truly saved, but it wasn't by the prayer but their heart toward God.
1John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would [no doubt] have continued with us: but [they went out], that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
-They will soon know who is who.
---micha9344 on 7/29/10

The numbers are unimportant. As has already been said, the proof will be in the pudding. Scripture tells us that "many are called but few are chosen." We can't know the hearts of any of these people, but, Scripture does clearly indicate that not all who call Jesus Christ "Lord" are actually saved. Heaven rejoices over the salvation of ONE lost soul, and I rejoice that God still works in lives today. The numbers game is just that. Without follow-up discipleship where will these people go?
---tommy3007 on 7/29/10

The easy sinners prayer??? what's that?

Acts 2:38 Peter says, REPENT (that isn't easy to do), be baptized (in the Holy Ghost) for the forgiveness of your sins so that you may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

REPENT is not the same as saying the sinners prayer. Repenting means to turn away fully from your old lifestyle and start following the when Jesus asked Thomas's boss, (Jairus), can I have Thomas? Sure Master was Jairus's response and Thomas left his job and went and followed Jesus (who had a better job for him, catching men).
---Donna5535 on 7/29/10

NO, the sinners prayer is Not correct. These False devilish teachings of salv - plans, easy believism, sinners prayer, no works salvation, death bed repentance etc IS Fictitious teachings that started with the Man - made trin reli - org rcc then her daughters churches the presby, luth, naz, bapt, method etc that came from here 2nd.Cor.4 v 4 & 11 v's 14 - 15. These people are trying to get into heaven some other way other than through The Door, Jesus Christ to the sheep fold. John 10 v 1. Trying to steal their way in. It will NOT happen.

How can a person conclude, that if a person pray salvation prayer he is save? Salvation is not a choice of anyone but it is a choice of God alone. Prayer of acceptance is a man made salvation step. Only God who know the possible number of Elect in the Philippines!
---rosalie on 7/24/09

Needs to be repeated: Salvation is "based solely on the merits of Christ on the Cross." It is one fold. Not two, three or many, "but one sacrifice."
If you confess with you mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe with your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved, for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in Salvation." Romans 10:9-10. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
---MarkV. on 6/14/09

Salvation is two fold.
Lamb of God, Jesus of Nazareth OBEYED GOD, shed his blood on the cross and died. "Romans 3:25 ...through faith in HIS BLOOD, to declare his righteousness for the REMISSION of SINS THAT ARE PAST... Heb 5:9 being made perfect, he became the AUTHOR of ETERNAL SALVATION unto all THEM THAT OBEY HIM."
The BLOOD of JESUS forgives only the PAST SINS of only those WHO OBEY GOD.
"Acts 3:26 ... first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in TURNING AWAY every one of you FROM his INIQUITIES." Resurrected Jesus Christ is SPIRIT and he is TURNING AWAY the INIQUITIES of OBEDIENT followers. But, Christians are rejecting him.

Its so important to spread Gods Good News throughout the world, but that is all we can do. If a person is really saved is a personal thing between them and Christ. Believe it or not there are a lot of ministers and pastors who wont be called to heaven on judgment day. I feel that our job is to present them with the TRUTH. Its up to each person whether or not they want to except it or not.

The real question I have is what steps were taken to draw these individuals in. I am on a journey lead 1,000,000 Souls to Christ. Where do I begin?

Concerning the Philippines, I have this day received information that the team this year will be granted entrance into the largest prison in the Philippines(some say maybe the largest prison in the world) as of today I do not know if I will go myself or not but certainly I will be involved prayer and coordination if nothing else. One of the ladies who got saved last year when the first team when was in the Philippines years ago was an employee under the warden of this prison. God works in mysterious ways!!!!!
---mima on 5/6/09

Yes, if it involved asking Jesus into their hearts.

Here is what concerns me, though. Many will receive, but how many will stay in this faith? How many will actually try to follow it to the best of their abilities?
---amand6348 on 5/5/09

**People goes to church and learn much. But Jesus has not saved them through His Blood.**

How do you bear such knowledge of knowing who's saved and who isn't?
---katavasia on 3/2/09

I am a sceptic. Whether or not all these people were truly saved, chosen by God, we may not know till we see them in heaven. A, or the sinners prayer will not save you! The Blood will. I have a sister, man, who knows a sinners prayer, never been saved through the Blood of Jesus Christ. People goes to church and learn much. But Jesus has not saved them through His Blood. Many are called, [few are CHOSEN].

Yes, the Spirit is in the business of salvation. Wow!! That was an awesome event. I would love to have been there:)

As John attempted to point out:

Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

It doesn't say He made them sons of God by belief, alone, as we read in...

Ac 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them, and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Funny how that works: eh? Or did Luke lie about the method used by Paul?
---BruceB on 2/26/09

One other thing--

How could these men accomplish in 4 days what all the pastors and ministers in the Phillipines were not able to do?

---katavasia on 2/26/09

mima, a few questions:

1. How many are recycled Christians?

2. How many will be persevering in a year?

3. What provisions were made for their spiritual nurture and growth?

Or were these just hitmen for Jesus who make converts and then vanish.

BTW--just WHERE in the Bible is the "sinner's prayer method?"

Easy believism is NOT Christianity.

Susie I totally agree with you it is the Holy Spirit who is the agent in ours or anyone else's salvation.I have never said nor intended to imply otherwise. I knew all four men very well. Two are Baptist, one is Lutheran, and one is non-denominational. These men had no set schedule, no church affiliation or help, their only guidance and their total dependency was on the Holy Spirit.
Still the number 10,000 people(and this number is very conservative, in truth I was told that the number would go over 12,000) is very exciting.
I was told the people who were acting as their guides were prone to go off into the crowds and go soulwinning on their own.
Also uncontrollable weeping was experienced by many attending these meetings.
---mima on 2/10/09

Mima...Throughout the New Testament, no man was given the glory for converts. Jesus and the Holy Spirit were.
---SusieB on 2/10/09

---SusieB-- In ACTS 2:41," Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls." the number 3000 is mentioned in one day. Would you be so bold as the say it was bragging to mentioned this number??
---mima on 2/9/09

"openly" ... maybe that is what it was like.

"sincerely" How would any observer know?

Rob. The sinners prayer in the Scripture:
Luk 18:13 But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, "God, be thou merciful to me a sinner."
Luk 18:14 I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other:
Asking Jesus into our hearts? John 1:12 "But as many as received him", to them gave he the right to become children of God, even to them that believe on his name:
---john on 2/7/09

I think this is wonderful. Although there are most likely a few false confessions I have no problem believing the sincere ones are saved. I was one of those kind of people 41 years ago. My parents and I accepted the Lord just like this. We have all gone on to serve the Lord with all our hearts. That was the start of our families Christian life. My 2 brothers and I have been pastors for decades. A simple prayer from the heart to receive Jesus is all it takes. Praise God for the 10,000.
---john on 2/7/09

For too many years I have people tell others to "ask Jesus into their hearts", say the "sinners prayer" or "pray for their salvation". Yet I have never, ever found any of these things in scripture.
---Rob on 2/6/09

No, this cannot possibly be correct. None of the four men there could have possibly known how "sincerely" any of those people prayed or that they were even praying for salvation. This a situation where only God knows their hearts. Mima, don't you think it is time to stop counting numbers of people standing and stop bragging on the numbers?
