Not only are all the gifts useful but everyone should have all of them 1Corin1,7so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
In 1Corin 12,8-10 the word "to" is commonly translated "and" Some examples
Mt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and <1161> whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Joh 13:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me, and <1161> he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
So if the rendering was "and another" it would not contradict the other verses which say we have all the gifts like 1Corin12,6 Eph1,3 and 2Peter1,3

Matthew 13:58 And he(Jesus) did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Jesus working miracles or mighty works was prevented from doing them because of peoples unbelief. That's exactly why you don't see God's move in mighter ways because people and Denominations are in unbelief. All the Gifts of the Spirit are still in operation for the Church but people have closed their minds and hearts to the truth of their existance for this day. God isn't pushy he doesn't put anything Spiritual on people who don't want to believe for all God has for them. I realize what people don't understand they are afraid of,but God will never give us gifts for our hurt for that would hurt the Kingdom of God too. Unbelief chains Gods move.

they are all most useful.

Once again someone has used what is written in Mark 16:17, but neglects what is written in Mark 16:18, even though they are part of the same sentence.

The Bible says in Mark 16:17 "these signs shall follow them that BELIEVE" That is why those that believe in the gifts of the Spirit experience them and their benefits and those that do not (even though they may be Christian) do not. For the person that says these gifts died with the Apostles you have to show me the chapter and verse in the Biblle that says that or it's just your opinion.

I guess people will believe whatever they want to.but the statement that the miracle works done by the apostles died when they did to me is saying that the holy spirit left the world when the apostles died.I have personally seen and experienced a number of miracle healings and personally in Guatemala some 8 years ago experienced the rushing wind appearance of the spirit within a church there. My hair blew up on my head as it does when the wind blows,oh say 60 miles per hour, and the person next to my right felt nothing, while the one to my left did.My brother was weeks away from death by cancer and overnight was healed.

Sunnie, what are the gifts that you say still exist today?
The reason I ask is because many people use what is written in Mark 16:17, but they reject what is written in Mark 16:18, even though verses 16 and 17 are part of the same sentence.

Jesus said, you shall know them by their fruit, not their gifts.
I would say that the fruit of the Holy Spirit that is developed in our lives is the most important part of our walk with the Lord.
As far as gifts, they operate when the Holy Spirit needs them to operate in us and they are to be used for others. Discerning of spirits is a gift that I've seen abused.
I would say the gift of faith and giving are very important.

Jon, u have been lied to. The gifts live today my dear brother. They abound greatly. Oh come and taste, the lord is good.
---Sunnie on 7/14/09|
Everyone has talents or gifts, but as far as the miraculous gifts the apostles had those don't exist anymore. Those kinds of gifts died with the apostles and it was for a specific purpose that they had them.

As Tom and Cluny said, each gift is useful. If the Holy Spirit gives any gift, it is essential, though it may not be as important, still it is necessary . . . for ministering God's grace, not just an outward action. "And the eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you', nor again the head to the feet, 'I have no need of you.'" (1 Corinthians 12:21) If someone came along and was going to cut off one of your toes because it is not very important . . . (o:

we need faith more than anything, but witnessing the other gifts usually builds faith.
---tom2 on 7/11/09|
Each gift ministers God's grace > 1 Peter 4:9-10. And God's grace has us growing in Jesus (Galatians 4:19) ("as He is, so are we in this world" < in 1 John 4:17). And Jesus in us has every spiritual capability, not just certain gifts > "that we may grow up in Him
. . . . . . . . in all things,
into Him who is the head---Christ" (in Ephesians 4:15).
But I do value *discernment* > not just for judging people, but for discerning God and what He wants at each moment (Colossians 3:15), and discerning how to love each person > "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment." (Philippians 1:9)

These gifts are given at the will of the Giver, as He things are most suitable and useful for the Church and the recipient.

"Which gifts of the Spirit do you find most useful today? Why?"
Prophesy, as a speaking forth by Divine Inspirations, to teach, refute, reprove, admonish, and comfort others in things pertaining to the KIngdom of God and His Christ.
Why? 1Cr 14:31 "..that all may learn, and all may be comforted." For "A wise [man] will hear, and will increase learning, and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:" Pro 1:5
Yet all the gifts are useful "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:" Eph 4:12

their all useful, and all given by God.

I found the the gift of discernment, to be most useful today. Because I had an encounter with someone that pretended to be someone they were not.
