There is much truth in all of these comments. The real tragedy is we have lost our witness because the church looks and acts just like the world. God help us.

1Co 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
1Co 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

New Christians are carnal. So thats not true at all.

There is no such animal. A person who is of the world is not of God. We are IN the world, but not OF the world.

People who claim to have been saved and then live as the lost people of this world are really just fooling themselves.

Once a person has met Jesus, that person is never the same.
---Sandra on 11/15/09

Could be those who satisfy their fleshly desires and live in accordance with the ways of the world except for the time they devote to going to church on Sunday.
---Bob on 11/12/09

A Bourgeious Carnal Pseudo Christian is one who Marrys the world and believe God only serves their needs. But when you marry the world you divorce Christ.
Or as James said:

"Therefore whoever wishes to be friends with the world makes themselves an enemy God"

A worldly Christian is one who has the pride of Life. The Pride of life is of the devil.

Now ask yourself, what in this life are you proud about?
---Larry on 11/9/09

I believe that would be one who believes in Jesus and made a public profession of that at one time but seldom if ever does anything for the church like usher teach Sunday school or Bible study does anything to support missions or help the poor or sick.A strong Christian will do some good works if physically able.
---shirley on 10/13/09

Worldly 'Christians' are not Christians for you cannot serve God and the world both as Jesus told us.
---Anne on 10/12/09

Worldly Christians are those who go to church, perform the motions of being a Christian and they mean them, but will turn around and do exactly the same as they did before came to Christ. They are still doing the same old things the world does, acting from the flesh and not the Spirit. When someone comes to Christ they are to make no room for the flesh to act. We all are to repent of sins, then we are baptised in water which is the representation of the death, burial, and resurection of Jesus. We are dead to old fleshly man, bury it in the grave, the water, and arise a new person in Christ, born of the Spirit and not the flesh. As a New Creature in Christ we have buried the worldly person we were and become the Spiritually born of Christ, walking holy.

I believe its one who has forgotten their first love.

Lawrence, that picture you gave is how the world sees all who call themselves Christians. Everything you mentioned does happen, and in the eyes of the lost they would call us worldly Christians.
But in Christianity there really is one kind of genuine Christian. The one that Mark E. explained about. Who does make mistakes but who is enslave to Christ not to sin anymore as he once was. He is been transform because he has just began his new creation.
The Bible does not mention, Old nature and New nature, it calls it a new creation. Regeneration is a transformation of the heart, mind soul, and one day our flesh.
---MarkV. on 10/2/09

A worldly Christian is one who still operates out of a fleshly unsanctified mind, and by that exibit behavior of worldly thinking in the process.

Our minds are renewed through the Word of God as we obey His word, changing us as we obey from Glory to Glory, by the spirit of the Lord. It's not an intellectual exercise.

The Apostles apart from Paul were unlearned men God used to impart His mind through the Holy Scriptures.

Peter is as qualified in his understanding as was Paul or James. Peter suffered we see in his Epistles having the witness of Christ in him. James as well testifies to the purpose of trials and testings we know are the sufferings of Christ. This brings maturity some call spirituality.
---Ralph on 10/2/09

And to add to 1st Corinthians 3, it's not so much Christians who still love to sin, but Christians who worship the teacher more than the Savior. They don't understand Christ is our life....they think following someone's teaching is more important.

You see this a lot here on line and more RECENTLY. These are the ones who, following the teachings of the man they think is the one you should be following, calling YOU names because you won't.

Contentions and divisions consist of calling one Stupid, Satan, a deceiver because you don't define or re-define according to their teacher, they conclude like any self promoting polititain, I APPROVE this message, as though They were God.

Mark Eaton, I see. Cluny is the one with that wrong ideology you posted. Yes, many whom do not know THEE One and Only True Living God, adopt all manner of wrong ideas about him, mostly common worldly misperceptions. Many wrongly think that God is some softy whom accepts all people at all times and loves all people at all times, no matter what- this type of thinking is what leads a person to nonrepentance and nonchange and nonsalvation, which keeps that deluded soul bound in eternal slavery in sin, leading down into perdition and eternal damnation.
---Eloy on 10/2/09

Paul talks about this very issue in Corinth.

1 Corinthians 3
1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

2I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

3For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

I never said that, Cluny did.

I merely posted his comment on the top of mine.

As we live in the world I agree that we are all to some degree worldly. How could we be otherwise.

Nonetheless there are those who say they are Christian but reinterpret Scripture or ignore inconvenient bits, as they are wittingly or unwittingly sold-out to worldly thinking. One such person said God got it wrong as He didn't know science like we know it today? That surely is worldly with a capital W.
---Warwick on 10/1/09

I believe all Christians are worldly to one decree or another. While we are in our fleshly bodies(remember that in our flesh dwell no good thing) we are all semi-worldly Christians. We are all of a fallen race. It is our humanness that makes us worldly. And praise Almighty God he knows and understands.

Mark Eaton, It is not Biblical that God has all eternity to work on someone who wants to be changed. No one has all eternity to get right with God, no one. Accepting Christ and being born-again where Christ exchanges your death for his life is instantaneous, and not a gradual process: just as becoming married where the 2 become 1 flesh is also instantaneous. When God says Choose this day whom you will serve, that is not something to neglect, for today is the day of salvation. And when he said, "God and sin no more", that is neither is something to neglect. If you serve 2 masters, you lose salvation, if you entertain sin, you are rejecting Christ and choosing sin over him.
---Eloy on 9/30/09

But don't forget, God's got all eternity to work on someone who is willing to be changed by God.
---Cluny on 9/29/09

I would have to agree with Jesus when He said:

Matt 7:18 "A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit"

At some point, there must be a change in conduct, thinking, world-view, selfishness, etc. If not, then perhaps there has been no new birth.

You cannot walk with God with one foot in the water and one foot in the sand.

I have heard living for God is like climbing a greased pole. You are either moving up or down. Trying to stand still only makes you go backward.

There is no so thing as a worldly christian: for a christian is christ-like and spiritual, but a worldly person is not. A person is either Christian, or else they are worldly, but they cannot be combined. Neither is there such a thing as a sinner-saint, a lost-found, or a dead living person.
---Eloy on 9/29/09

||If we do not change, many consider us a "worldly" christian.

2 Cor 5:17 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, the old things passed away, behold, new things have come"

Rom 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect"

Before we became believers, we were conformed to the image of the world. We thought, looked, dressed, and talked like the world.

After belief in Christ, we are a new creature, conformed in the image of Christ. Our thoughts, speech, behavior, and dress should imitate Jesus.

If we do not change, many consider us a "worldly" christian.

God's True Believers are here to bid God's service.
So many carnal minded christian people (worldly christians) have 1 foot in trying to serve Almighty God & the other foot in trying to serve the god of this world(satan) with His worldly pleasures such as watching sports, dancing, social drinking, staying home from Church to wash the car - truck - boat etc., participating in sports & the such like. <-- these are things & other that the devil will use to take your minds Off & Away from God. You canNot serve 2 masters.
Choose you this day whom you will serve, The God of Creation or the god of this world(satan).
