Well, another successful Black History Month is coming to a close. It's been fun y'all & hope we all can get together & do it again next year! Peace, love & soul!!! Okay, who's next? :)

And if you go to Boston you can follow the Freedom Trail around the city. You'll see The site of the Bunker Hill Battle, the USS Constitution, Site of the Tea Party, Boston Masacre site, and Paul Revere's House famed for his Midnight call"The British are coming, The British are coming"
we were free! !

Until the 2nd British Invasion of 1964, then America fell in love again and surrendered immediately to the Fab Four and the rest of the invaders.
And Paul Revere???
Well he and his Raider joined the Brits this time around. :)
---James on 2/28/10

"Tea Party" in the UK!
That quite amusing since the first "Tea Party" event was staged when the US were British colonies. For any who might not know, it was staged as a protest against the taxes (on tea specifically) of England and King George. I've heard the tax was 2%!

During the night, a group of colonists, dressed as Indians, boarded an English ship and dumped it's cargo of tea overboard into the harbor.

What form do you think a "tea party" might take in England?
---Donna66 on 2/27/10

The revolution has gone back to our Fatherland! Hope it all turns out well! Now that Brown has raised their debt by 12.6% more. It should be a good party!

Trish: I pray your continued strength in the Lord as He graciously meets your daily needs. (Philippians 4:13)

Request prayer for Elder Earl Mosley who is currently in a San Antonio hospice as the result of a long bout with pancreatic cancer. Nothing is impossible for God! Please pray God's complete healing upon this dear Christian brother & servant of the Lord. Thx! (James 5:16)

Trish,my prayers are with you. May God be with you every step of the day. God Bless

Thank you all for your prayers for me. I am returning to my teaching job on Monday, the 22nd, and ask you to pray with me concerning my physical health. I received my last shot in my back on Thursday, the 18th, and will not know whether it takes for two more weeks.

Thanks again.
---Trish9863 on 2/21/10

God Bless you Trish9863!

May God lead you to a new horzon as you pass through these storms of life.

Trish ... I, and I am sure many others, will be praying for you.

God bless you.

I have not been posting much due to some heavy duty life stuff that is going on with me. Details are not open for discussion, just that the Lord has been doing some much needed work on me, and it has not been pretty.

I would appreciate your prayers, as I struggle with herniated discs and have had two cortisone shots, and will be getting the third this week. I have been on sick leave from work for a month now, and would like to go on disability or retirement for disability. It is a huge step of faith, but I cannot work and deal with the physical issues and the subsequent mental health issues that are a result of the physical.

---Trish9863 on 2/14/10

Good movie to see!

I would like to reccomend to everyone "Amazing Grace"

It is a movie about freeing the slaves in Great Briton. BTW... The Brits freed the slaves many years before the Yanks did. They also already had a Woman Prime Minster(long time ago).

Anyway... It is also about the song and how it came to be. It is NOT for children, I reccomend it for 18 or older. However: there is nothing inappropiate in it. Just a serious theme.

---James on 2/14/10

The entire collection of the Dead Sea Scrolls will be on Exhibit at the Museum of Science in Minnesota. I can't put a link or give you the phone number so you will have to Google it.

These are the compiled scrolls from Israel, Private collections, and I believe the British Museum. There will be many Biblical artifacts. This may never happen again since Jordan has demanded from Israel that these scrolls be returned to them. Israel cease these after the war and does not want them out of their country after this exhibit. They fear the Jordanians will cease them back if they are at large.

Very, very good Tommy! $200.00, wow! I'm proud of you bud & suspect Dave Ramsey would be also. :)

The older "Yotas" do seem to run forever.
I had a visually off-line brain flatulence when I read, thought you said, "YODA". Pray for me! :D

I spoke too quick about my Grandson. I thought he had gone to work but he hadn't,he was still really sick yesterday so please continue to pray for him. I received a prayer request this morning for a little old lady who is in the hospital with gangrene, diabetes, alzheimers, heart and kidney failure. Please pray for her and her family, she is a Christian and I think her daughter is also. Her daughter thinks she is getting sronger and is believing she will come home but says she is ready to go to heaven. Thanks God Bless

Pastor Jim, you've got equity in your moniker. Keep it!
---larry on 2/10/10

I will no longer use "PASTOR JIM" as my ID name.

Since there are many "Jims" posting...

I will be using "JAMES".

A name that does NOT exist in the bible.

(A KJV Blunder that can no longer be changed)

The name should have read Jacob.

The British name was substituted in early english Bibles. It would be too difficult to change it now.

Anyway, I hope my new name does not confuse anyone.

God Bless

leon, I don't have to worry about a "recall" on my Toyota. I drive a 1991 Corolla with 261,000 miles on it. Who needs those hybrids anyway? My old yota gets 35-38 mpg on regular unleaded gas. And I only paid $200.00 for it, pretty good, huh?
---tommy7376 on 2/9/10

PASTOR JIM- Why I used the title? I was running a 3 month experiment to encourage people to question, disagree, conflict, argue with a Pastor. You have done very well.

If you can do this to me, you should now have the courage to do the same with your own pastor. He is NOT the final word. 98% of pastors KNOWINGLY teach their churches traditions over Scriptural truth. (RCC-The latest Rock/Roll church).

I encourage ALL of you to PLEASE question your pastor and NEVER EVER confuse him with HIM. Like the Berean Jews did with Paul, always double check with scripture/ask follow-up questions.

MarkV & Donna

I did not expect my reply to be taken quite so seriously!

But there was a point to it, because there are those who post here who clearly don't understand that CN is international, and don't welcome non-Americans making comment.

The USA is the most influential nation in the world and what it does affects us all.
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/9/10

Alan of UK --

I thought it would be self-evident that I was speaking about and to citizens of the United States.

I didn't imagine that citizens of any other nation, would call themselves "American"-anything! (The exception might be citizens in the southern hemishere who live in "South America")
---Donna66 on 2/9/10

MarkV thanks for the prayers for my grandson and husband they have improved. To those who prayed for me,thanks so much my eye is better, the severe pain is gone. Catherine, keep up the good work of one day at a time,it helps you to keep hanging on. When we hold onto God he will help us make it through. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 2/9/10

Alan, I believe Donna's answer only pertains to us who live here in America. Of course she didn't mean you guys on another country. That would be foolish to even ask you to call youself an American. She is right, we (Americans) should all call ourselves Americans and not divide races, but some don't mind and neither do I.

Phyllis,Hi,welcome to Christianet Blogs. I'm glad to see you here. I'm sorry to hear about your broken heart but I will pray for you to heal quickly. I have always told my family when they didn't get what they wanted or thought they would that God has something better for them. I admire your upbeat attitude and hope God does have someone better for you. God Bless

Donna ... What a sensible answer!

But I'd take issue with your last sentence: "It would sure be nice if we could all be just AMERICANS"

I would prefer to remain British !!! And Carla too.

And I'm note sure Warwick (australian) would like to be American!

What is up is I thank God for each and every one of you. I may disagree with Donna66 but she is a dear sister in Christ and I am thankful for her. We agree on the core issues that Jesus is Lord.

I am also thankful for the popular Pastor Jim even though the poor guy hasn't blogged or made reference to the Joy of Christ in memory. Everything is liberal wackos versus the wing nuts. At least our dear brother is consistent.

Gotta love Trish, Cluny and NurseRobert.

hi to this blog deal..what is up in Feb 2010? wow loaded question! I am dealing with healing a broken heart but looking on the bright side!
---Phyllis on 2/8/10

I believe in calling people whatever they want to be called. If you call youself "Hispanic" so will I. If you'd rather be "Chicano", I'll call you that.
( My heritage is English but you and I are the same race...caucasian)
If you are dark skinned and want to be thought of as "African American" it's OK with me, though I won't ask you to actually trace your ancestry to that continent. There are Chinese-Americans, Korean-Americans, Japanese-American and even Native Americans.

It would sure be nice if we could all be just AMERICANS.
---Donna on 2/8/10

Well, I've got to tell you: Nothing but trials and tribulations seems to follow me all the days of my life. Take it to the Lord in prayer, and when I do, God says, "to bear with Me". I say, "I shall, "just like You did for me on the cross".

Leon,ha ha,thanks for that this morning,I needed something light hearted to lift me over the pain I'm in. Please pray for me,when I got up this morning it was to the pain of an eye infection hurting even though I had taken Tylenol 3 earlier. I have antibiotic medicine but it takes a while to act and as you said prayer first but also self help if one can. Good advice,I hadn't thought about those with congestion staying away from milk products, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the prayers. Just a big praise now to God,my Greatniece had been in labor for 34 hours when they finally took her back for a C-section,mother and 7lb 6 ounce son are doing fine. It was her first baby. We all are so happy all is well.

Again Alan, it is a NEW word used by White Liberals to describe a certain group of Indians or indigenious people.

The objective is to group them as one NEW race. And they have been successful in doing that! It is another Politically Correct term that has now been accepted now as a race of people like blacks, whites. or Asian. It is INDEED a NEW word. It is now a new race of people, be it non-descript.

WHY??? so the progressive can control them as a single block. As they do with other liberal groupings. Very Evil!

What is a Hispanic? What does this "race" look like???

It only make sense in liberal logic.

You have not anwered my question on American/Canadian Indians. Should we call them Britannics???
---PASTOR_JIM on 2/8/10

Darline, I sure will pray for them. Thank you for answering. You know what I forgot and I use to use that word before since I was born in Texas, I always use to say I was a "Tejano" because I heard some of the history of the Alamo from two brothers from Mexico and they mentioned that 'Tejano's' faught with those inside the Alamo. They said Tejanos owned a lot of the land before the fight and after Texas became a state the land was taken from them. That was not the history I read while in school. Anyway, hope your husband and grandson get much better, prayer is on the way, blessings

Pastor Jim ... I'm pleased to see you now agree that you were incorrect to say "It is a non-term invented by condecending white Liberals"

You may regard it as a word now used as a racist slur, but is it really so, any more than words such as Pom, Yank, Brit, Paddy?
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/8/10

Darline, what's up in February? are you hispanic or latin? I hope our conversions didn't include you. I am sorry to have even answered Jim. I didn't really pay attention to the title of the blog only on what was said. I will leave the blog and hope you were going for the Saints because they did win. Exz ... So presumably OED and Websters are lying when they say the term "Hispanic" dates from the 16th Century.
alan8566_of_uk on 2/7/10

Alan we already know that the word HISPANIC refers to the Spanish Empire and dates back to 1586. I have said that SEVERAL TIMES now in my posts.
To apply this same word to indigenous Indians of South America, Mexico, and the Caribbean is outright Ludicrous!!!

You might as well call these tribe Teacups. It is the same. It is just a RACIST SLUR.

Why not call these people who they really are, MAYANS, INCAS. Etc

We do this with American Indians Cherokee, Hopi etc.

As must have been the manuscripts using that word that were written at and since that time.

Seems a bit like "Back to the Future" if the Liberals can go back & alter all those historical documents

Here we are again, myself included, using the "Whats Up" Blog for discussing something besides whats up. It is meant to be whats up in our lives at this point in time and even asking for prayer when its needed. If we must discuss an issue please lets all remember to start a Blog with that topic and not use this one for dicussion of things not related to "Whats Up". I for one want to say, opps I goofed and I'm sorry for using this Blog in the wrong way. I'll try not to do it again. I hope no one is offended in me saying this but if you are I didn't intend to offend just remind all of us. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 2/7/10

Leon, My post said it is wrong for a group of people to impose a name on someone.

Alan your posts are invalid as you are now quoting out of dictionaries that have accepted this new term. Note how it was an added paragraph.

Again "Hispanic" is RACIST NON TERM! Its not any different from the racial slurs of the 50s. IT NOW MEANS an indiginous person from Mexico, Puerto Rico,Caribbean and South America. Its refer to Mayans, Inca, Caribbean Indians, and other tribes of those lands.

AGAIN I ask you why are American Indians NOT called Britannic???

Also on Application is says race:Hispanic (NON WHITE or of EUROPEAN DESENT) meaning Indigenous Indians.

Pastor Jim "It is a non-term invented by condecending white Liberals"

When was that then, Jim? Were there condescending white liberals in 1584?

See what Websters says ...

Etymology: Latin hispanicus, from Hispania Iberian Peninsula, Spain
Date: 1584
1 : of or relating to the people, speech, or culture of Spain or of Spain and Portugal
2 : of, relating to, or being a person of Latin American descent living in the United States, especially : one of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin

Oxford English Dictionary says similar
---alan8566_of_uk on 2/6/10

Jim: Isn't the word "Indian" a derivative of the word "indigenous" (meaning original, native people)? So, what's wrong with being specifically called Native Americans since the indigenous people (American Indians) are native to the American continent? In a very real sense, aren't people around the world who're native to given regions also "Indians" (European, African, Asian, etc.)?
---Leon on 2/6/10

Leon, oh, by the way, you did not offend me in the least. I appreciate your impute and many of your answers on the blogs. I should stick to doctrines instead of personal topics of man. They do bring out the worse in people. Every time I answer one, I regret later, like politics etc. Again peace to you.
---MarkV. on 2/6/10

Leon, I was agreeing in is what Jim said about why have it one way, accepting the fact that there can be an all Black College and its ok but if it was a all white college it is not ok. Those kinds of things. If the white have anything that is for whites everyone gets mad, but not the other way around. Now the latinos, Hispanics, have not had their day yet, and when they do, the whites/blacks, better not complain.
That is so terrible. There should be no line and no complains for we are all Americans. Like it or not. And I am not speaking for the illegals. They don't count. I don't see anything wrong in anyone calling me a hispanic or latino. So long as they don't call me a Mexican, Hunduran, Puerto Rican etc, because I was not born there.

---alan8566_of_uk on 2/6/10

What are you going to mark on your census form? I was born in the USA so I would be a Native American, would I not.
---ralph7477 on 2/6/10

It is a non-term invented by condecending white Liberals who believe they know better and can speak for others.

There no race or people called Hispanic. The word comes from the Spanish Empire called Hispanola. Just as the British empire was call Britanica. It no longer exists. It is very insulting to call people of various races, cultures, and regions of the world a non term such as Hispanic. Hispanics simply do not exist.

I feel for American Indians who survey after survey has shown they prefer to be called Indians and NOT Native Americans.

Yet the "we know better" white liberals insists they be refered to as Native Amercans and has forced this new PC name by Government.

---PASTOR_JIM on 2/5/10

MarkV: I don't mean no offense to anyone. Please help my understanding. I was told the word Hispanic is a compound word meaning Historically Spanish as it refers to (1) people descended from & (2) people dominated by the Conquistadors. Is that right?

A great many people prefer to be called & call themselves Latino or Latina which also implies a relationship to the people speaking languages such as Italian, French, Spanish, & Portugese. Again, that refers to Indo-European explorers/conquerors who came to the Americas & subjucated the indiginous people living in the land.
---Leon on 2/6/10

Pastor Jim, I am sorry you don't want to be called a hispanic, Spanish speaking person who lives in America. Seems to be the definition given. If I was born in Mexico I would say I am a mexican, or hunduran, etc. Sorry I used a bad choice of words when answering you. That will teach me answering you, when there was more to your answer then I thought there was. peace
---MarkV. on 2/5/10

MarkV. I am "Hispanic" too.

It is a word that I never used. Since there is no Race called Hispanic. Its simply a racist stereotype. I would be excluded since I am white and my parents are from Northern Spain which is Celtic. When in fact the word means "Of Spain".

It is a Liberal racist word to group people from 19 countries into one. These countries have within them the full range of races of the world Black, Asians, to White Anglo Saxans.

Why they don't call American Indians "Britanics".
Why don't they call Haitians "Francos". Since they are a French speaking.

Liberalism is a False religion that mimics the Goodness of Christianity.
---PASTOR_JIM on 2/5/10

Leon I am so sorry for that young mans sickness. I surely will be praying for his grandmother and the whole family to have strength and may God move greatly for that young man,may he be healed and restored to complete health quickly. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 2/5/10

Pastor Jim, I completely agree with your statements. My wife works as a secretary for the school system and she runs into those problems alot, when people come to her complaining. We have talked about it and I believe the liberal movement supports this views but I believe it is to get voted in and have the support of so many blacks and hispanics. I say hispanics more because there are so many. I am hispanic and don't like what they are doing. The whole thing is not fair. But in the end I know God is in control, and that comforts me. I do my part and vote and the rest is in God's hands. There is so very little we can do.

I drive a Toyota FJ Cruiser. It's not subject to the recall and I'm not worried one bit. This problem has been blown way out of proportion by comments from government officials, as usual. By the way, the part in question is American made.

I like to live dangerously I guess. My kids and I didn't get a swine flu shot either in spite of the dire warnings from the government. We are all fine.

Leon, I drive a 2006 Toyota Camry and it's NOT on the recall list. God watches out for us, huh? I almost traded it in a few months ago when my mother went and bought a new Toyota Yaris. The salesmen told her, "now would be a good time for your daughter to buy a new car."

To celebrate some traditional European "white persons" holiday would not be acceptable in today's society.
Look at the abuse the holiday of "Christmas" receives.
Recalling the nativity is practiced wherever Christian is an accepted religion. And Santa Clause (who also has become popular world-wide) is a European
creation from Medieval times. But the politically correct celebration at that time of year is "winter Holiday" or "Solstice".

It seems to be widely held that the "white man", especially in America, is so villainous that he is not entitled to a "culture" of his own to celebrate.
---Donna66 on 2/3/10

Thanks Darlene:) Laughter is indeed good medicine. (Pv. 17:22) I've learned from HISTORY, oftentimes we have to laugh to keep from crying. Otherwise the stresses of life, as Marvin Gaye once said will, "...make you wanna holla & throw up both your hands!"

"Historically", John Lennon & the Beatles got it right with "All You Need Is Love". Unfortunately, Lennon later missed it horribly with "Imagine".

You're right! It's all about the love of God in & expressed thru us to others (friends & foes). God is Love & He requires us to forgive others as He has forgiven us. That's Bible from Gen. - Rev. -- "HIS" Story with supporting cast, us hu"e"mans. :)
---Leon on 2/3/10

Leon I laughed at that question about why no white holidays. That all was very well said, you have a good point and a great sense of humor. In our part of the Country I've wondered too,why is there a Black Chamber of Commerce,Black Beauty Pagent, why is there Hispanic Chamber of Commerce too. I thought we were all to work together,as you say,as humans,no segregation, isn't it ironic, now different races all want just their organization with no whites, right back to segregation, but self decided. It would be a better world if all Christians would remember we are brothers and sisters in Christ. People forget 1 John 4:7,8 God is love and those who love are born of God,and knows God those who don't love, knows not God,for God is love. Love does no harm.

Like Rodney King feebly said, "Why can't we all just get along?" Let's remember (the good, bad & the ugly), celebrate world-wide hu"e"man achievements & learn lessons from "ALL" history. Most importantly, let's not forget God's hand is in it "ALL".

Trish, how are you doing?

I had my Cat Scan and the blood clot in my liver has gotten smaller since I was in the hospital in September. Also, my liver was encased in a bubble of blood (a big one) and the doctor now said that the Cat Scan showed, "much less blood."

So I don't need surgery on my liver and that was my biggest worry - I hate hospitals and I would have dreaded being back in the hospital to have surgery.

How are you all doing? What's going on in your life?
