God Isn't Answering My Prayers

I don't know what to do I feel like God is just leaving me out here on my own. It seems that he never answers my prayers. I don't know what to do I am on the edge about to fall off and I feel like everyday I get closer to falling. And I pray and scream out to Him and yet he still does not answer.

God ALWAYS hears our prayers He does not however always answer them the way we expect.Stop getting yourself worked up,you wont fall off the edge, instead repent of "holding on" to the problem...then just stand back, praise Him and trust Him,stand in faith and He will deliver you....we all need people around us for support, try for a good church as a starting point maybe..hope this helps?

Hi Joseph,

It is God's Word version. I paralleled several with the King James. I liked this one because it specifically said to guard the Good News which is entrusted to you. Good News is good news. Good isn't evil and news is something that has already happened. The message of a good God is that Jesus died for all men to reconcile to God and rose again to save all who will call upon His name. In a world where there is bad news on TV every night (from what I hear since I don't watch it), good news is definitely needed. I appreciate your witness to the Scriptures.

Amen. Prayer is personal, but can be collective. I'll pray (two clicks from now)about you, I'm sure a couple of other believers will too. May GOD's will be done in your life and needs.

James 5:15
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Sandi, He is teaching you patience.

I know its hard and it feels like He's not there anymore or doesn't care, but rest assured nothing is farther from the truth.

You'll look back on this one day and know He was right there with you the entire time.

There have been 'quiet' times in my life when praying and seeking the Lords will and I had to come to the realization that there was a sin in my life that the Lord was ready to remove and I was unknowingly fighting Him on it.

Pray to discover what that sin might be first. The floodgates will open up again when you do.

I don't speak for any organized flavor. I speak up for the individual sheep. Especially one who prays.

When I see an imposter beating sheep I'll be there.
Revenge for twisting a truth.Ha. I actually like it when you show yourself. I found you to be what I suspected and others said all along. Scripture and MY GOD can deal with EweSheepbeaters left handed.

1Ti 6:20 Timothy, guard the Good News which has been entrusted to you. Turn away from pointless discussions and the claims of false knowledge that people use to oppose the Christian faith.
1Ti 6:21 Although some claim to have knowledge, they have abandoned the faith. God's good will be with all of you.

Trav, your words are not coming from God but other source. If you want to speak for the Word of Faith teachers go for it. I speak against them because they speak against God. And anyone who in indoctrinate by them will speak the same words they speak. You might not care at all for the real Truth but I do. I know the Sword divides, it will always divide. When someone is wrong, the Sword of God cuts to their heart. Many times they will see the light of the Sword, and other times they will fight against the Sword, and their emotions come out, and what is really in their hearts comes out through their mouths just as it does you. You are caught up in revenge because of what you said about the Jews dying in the ovens by Hitler, you said it, I didn't.

Hello! I know how it feels when you're in the point of breaking down and feeling that God don't love you anymore:-( I have experienced this so often, that I know this situation is very hard! But if you want my advice, I will tell you to please hold on and maybe change the way about how you pray! This is very important! I am not saying that the way you pray is not good, don't get me wrong, just for some time don't pray at all, just take your bible in your hand, read few lines, cry if you have too and ask God to help cause if not, he'll be responsible for your deep depression and bad action maybe! I am sure God will hear you and won't let you down. Only things you have to be sincere in what you say and do. With God there's no bargaining:-)
---mirella on 7/16/10

Sandi, Henry gave a ton of scriptural support that God does answer prayers, but as I previously stated you can't see God with your feelings.
Paul wasn't beaten, thrown in jail but fully persuaded based on his feelings.
Abraham didn't raise the sword to his son based on feelings.

Excuse the language but screw your feelings. Feelings is bondage, try faith.
---larry on 7/15/10

Remember to pray each day for there is love and power in prayer. Every prayer is important and always heard no matter how big or how small you believe your prayer may be.
---Pamela on 7/15/10

To finish the thoughts from the other post.

1. Who are you REALLY praying to? See Luke 18:10-14. Vs. 11, the Pharisee prayed with HIMSELF, (saying), GOD! He was actually praying as if he WAS God. Vs. 13, the publican prayed, God please make a place for me in Your mercy. That is what the meaning of the word merciful means. See Vs 14 for results.

2.Who's power are you using in Prayer? Rom.8:26-27. Are we submiting ourself to God in prayer, and waiting on Him?

3.Who's purpose are you praying for? I John 5:14-15. This is the confidence we have in Him, if we pray for HIS Will, we will find HIS way in our life.

4. Why there is no power in Prayer? James 4:1-4. We pray to consume it on OUR OWN lust in life. How smart is that?
---Henry on 7/15/10

I know what you mean, and have said the same thing myself. But God's true Word is a great resource IF we will just LET it be to us.

While I was reading my Bible I came on some notes I had written before, and it made me think of this post. It's good that the moderators have put a limit on the length of these posts, because IF you are serious and really want an answer, you will have to look it up for yourself.

Look up Mark chapter 11, and look at verses 25-33, for a background to the subject of Power of Prayer, and 4 thoughts on it.

If I am allowed, I will have to continue this in the next post. Henry

You are a legend in your own mind. You've never made a statement or given a scripture with multiple witness...but, presume you have truth.

Word of faith is caught up in their own emotionalism...but, dissing Linda, who prays fervantly is low.
I notice it makes you feel tough to pick on women. Real tough boy. I'd suggest you leave her alone before her protector visits. But then I confess, I know you won't. Sheep beater.
---Trav on 7/14/10

The first mention of prayer is found in Genesis, chapter 4. Genesis 4:26 - And as for Seth, to him also a son was born, and he named him Enosh. Then men began to call on the name of the LORD. But if you stay joined to me and my words remain in you, you may ask any request you like, and it will be granted (John 15:7). Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. (Luke 18:1). "When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered only by repeating their words again and again." (Matthew 6:7)
---Yohannan on 7/14/10

Well, I would rather take advice from someone who has most of his prayers answered than from someone who says God doesn't give you your heart's desire, which is denying scripture. Don't know what you've been praying for but there could be many reasons why God has not answered yet. If your prayer involves another person, God will not violate anyone's own choices. Could be unforgiveness in your own heart. Could be God is using you as a witness for someone else to see how you stay true to Him even when He doesn't answer right away. Could be anything. God sees things from above, similar to the view you have of an ants life. Keep trusting God. He loves you with an everlasting love & has promised that he will never leave you nor forsake you.

I heard something tonight that encouraged me so I'll share it with you: it's never too late in God's time and He's been known to begin delivery of women older than me (46) so I think sometimes God gives us the best He has to give us when we're ready and He's ready. Hang in there sister, love in Christ, Mary

Sometimes it takes time to develope our faith. Sometimes we have to go through a lot of stuff before we learn how to truly trust in our Maker. He is all powerful and knowing. He knows your needs before you do. God also knows your heart. If there is a chance that you will fall by having your prayers answered you won't get that. God loves us and He would never hurt us.

Rob - What question(s) do you want answered? It may be something I have already answered by giving you what the Bible says, but you will not accept that answer, because you are against God and His Word - and want to say that you are right and God is wrong.
---Leslie on 7/9/10

Rob - Jesus and Paul were not being disobedient or in sin, however, the Bible says that disobedience and sin will lead to your prayers not being answered. This is because God is holy and cannot be around sin and disobedience, therefore, these things hinder our prayers, because we are comming to potition a holy God with sin in our lives. Until you confess your sins, does the prayer go up to God's throne. Sin and disobedience will also leave you feeling guilty - how can you do what 1 John 5:14-15 says to come with confidence and boldness - you can't because the guilt remains.
---Leslie on 7/9/10

Jesus gave us a PATTERN of prayer. The Lords Prayer.

Many fail to acknowledge first THY WILL BE DONE.

Or say as Job...though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him. Or when we go through the fiery trials...SAY, I shall come forth as GOLD.

We see only through our own human eyes and not through God's Eyes or His Purpose.

If one does not read the Bible and KNOW God and His purposes, one will always be discouraged. We live by Faith, not by sight.
You can't have faith if you don't read the Bible! Our faith is in HIS WORD.
---kathr4453 on 7/9/10

Rob, I believe she hasn't answered because she does not have an answer for what she said about you, she cannot correct her own mistakes. While most of what she wrote is true, not all of it is True. And when she accused you of not knowing Scripture, she would have to take it back, and I'm sure you will not hear her take it back. You are right. Not every prayer is answered. There is many reasons in the dealings of God that we don't know what the answer will be, what we do know it that God heard it, and God made a decision. And the decision He made is perfect.
I believe that some, like Linda, are indoctrinated by the Word of Faith so much that they lose sight of the real Truth many times, and build this system of believe and then defend it.

It is hard but we must wait on God. He says in his word "in HIS time, not ours". We may think God doesn't know what he is doing but exactly the opposite. He knows the future and knows exactly when the RIGHT time is for us and when it's not. Believe me, I know from experience. Not saying it is easy but for us to grow in Him, it is what we need to do. A lot of times we pray, we want things now and our way. Again, God has is own time and we can see the benefits when we do wait. Hope this helps.
---Barry on 7/8/10

Sandi, do not believe others who tell you that every prayer will be answered to you. That is not the Truth. Before God can act on your request it has to be right, not just for you but for others around you, and what kind of effect what He answers will have on you. Many times women ask for a spouse, a perticular one at that. And many times you don't get what you want. It could be for your own good, or for the good of the other person. So many things are involve that if we pray for His will, you will get the right answer. Some here say they control God, and that He gives every desire of your heart. That is just not true at all.

// do believe Satan is behind, in front of, and beside every rock.//

He may be if you are looking for him. However, he is not behind, in front of, or beside The Rock. I apologize I misunderstood you. I actually enjoy studying God's prophetic language, especially when it pertains to the numbers He mentions. It is interesting indeed and it proves that man, no matter how much he has added chapter and verse numbers, cannot change God's intention.
---Linda on 7/7/10

Leslie, if it is indeed true that you only go with what the Bible says, why don't you go with what is written in 1 Peter 3:15, and answer the questions I asked you on 6/30/10.

By the way Leslie, I am a CHRISTIAN BECAUSE I AM A BELIEVER AND FOLLOWER OF CHRIST, and not some man made religions, traditions, doctrines, or sects.

Also you need to know I carefully study scripture in the context which it is written, 2 Timothy 2:14-19, asking and answering the questions, Who, What, When, Where, Why, and to Whom, along with following the example found in Acts 17:11.

I do these things because I take very seriously the WARNINGS found in Galatians 1:6-10, and 2 Peter Chapter Two.
---Rob on 7/7/10

Linda, I apologize. I did not mean to imply that you are employing tactics from the underworld. My discourse of numbers was actually an aside.

It gave me a springboard to talk about the things where the Spirit is leading me. I do believe Satan is behind, in front of, and beside every rock. However, it is not phobia (fear). It is reality. It is his world for now, but greater is He who isw in us than he that is running this big rock.

God created signs in numbers...on or off. The sequence of numbers determines everything. Satan is the angel of Light, so he knows a thing or two about signs and numbers...but not everything.
---aka.joseph on 7/7/10

aka Joseph, I also want to remind you that God Himself used signs to point to His Son. Revelation is full of them. So is the Old Testament. He does that for a purpose, so if I use the same sign to point to Christ then I am using it for the right purpose, which has nothing to do with any type of eastern mystic society. You can get so "phobic" of everything that you think the devil is behind every rock.

Sorry, my mistake. There are 8. That signifies the new creation. akajoseph, whether you believe it or not, God says not one thing without significance. Even the numbers he uses point to Christ. I assure you, I am not a member of some secret society in numerology. I don't utilize astrology, numerology, or any other -ology to determine my path. However, I do believe that every word, number, color, fabric, etc. uttered by God has relevance. Understanding the relevance doesn't make someone better than another, nor more saved. It just simply points to Christ...and the more Christ we see in the Word, the more we are conformed, right?
---Linda on 7/7/10

I (1) am crucified with Christ nevertheless I(2) live, yet not I(3) but Christ who lives within me (4), and the life that I(5) now live in the flesh, I(6) live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me (7) and gave Himself for me (8).

Did you know that 7 is an important number to the hidden societies? So, is eleven. NY is the 11th state. The Latin prefix for September is septum, which is the number for seven. The twin towers look like an eleven.

1, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 31 (13 backwards)and any series of like numbers 33, 666.

Signs, signs, everywhere signs ... anybody want to go to 31 Flavors with me?
---aka.joseph on 7/7/10

Mike & Rob - Unlike you both I go ONLY with what the Bible says, whereas you both go with personal opinion. If I go with the Bible ONLY that means I am lined up with God. You go with personal opinion and therefore suggest that you know more than God, and you are right and God is wrong. Tell me from this, who is really a Christian, and who is really not. It is clear that you both are not.
---Leslie on 7/7/10

The pronouns "I" and "me" are mentioned seven times in Galatians 2:20. Seven is the number of completion and perfection.

I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ who lives within me, and the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

If you understand your vital union with Christ in His death, burial, resurrection, and seating, you can say with confidence what Paul said in this passage of Scripture. Who you were in Adam passed away. Who you are now is who you are in Christ.

Without knowing the one who asked the question, it would be arrogance to suggest she is selfish.

my bad experience is when a pastor told me that SELF IS A SIN, middle of sin is I. Really? if I is sin, then christ & god is a sinner bec. many times they use the word I.
christ said 'peter it is I'
god said to moses 'tell them I AM'
what does that mean? I is a person, how can you have a relationship with others when I is sin? how can u do your responsibilities & sharpen your skill when I is SIN?
middle of SKILL IS I.
what christianity is teaching too much is ASCETISM - divorce your'self' from the world & you will gain holiness bec. world is SIN. that is where you miss blessings, (not lack of faith)bec. commonsense is replaced by religion/ascetism
by the way, deny yourself & you will know what I mean

---mike on 7/7/10

Dear Sandi, God is answering your prayers, you just can't hear him.
Unbelief which is SIN blocks blessing and discernment.

The Lord says he will always be with us and promises all who seek him will find him. For some reason in your aforementioned blog question, which includes 7 references to "I", you've chosen to tell the Lord he is not always with us and he does not always answer prayer.

By your own unbelief you've chosen not to hear his voice, closing your ears and more importantly your heart to his promises.

There is no condemnation in his arms to replace the complaints with praise, adoration, worship and study and you'll enable yourself to hear again. God bless.

Dear Sandi:

I think it is in either Psalms or Proverbs, which says, "Delight thyself in The Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

Again, we are told The Almighty will bring out of darkness into light the things we need to know at the time of HIS FAVOR.

Then again, we are told, "All things work out for the best, for those who love God and keep His commandments."

We must accept His 4 common responses: "Yes", "No", "Be still and know that I am God" or "My grace is sufficient for you."

The other thing to ponder is perhaps The Almighty is disciplining you or testing you to allow for spiritual growth.

He may not come when we want Him to, but he is always right on time. Learn to accept what is happening around you and to you. And believe it is God's will for you, at this time. If it was not God's will, this would not be happening. You have to get with God's plans for your life, Not the other way around. It is painful but it is for our own good, in the end. The Christian walk is about faith. You need to build up your faith in God. Not in..yourself. We have to learn to trust God.God is always faithful. No matter what the situation is that we are in. Dear Sandi:

David, Daniel and Job, just to name a few, had to wait for their prayers to be answered. So you are in good company.

Sometimes, The Almighty wants to see how much we are committed to a prayer. Sometimes, the timing is just not right, while other times the answer is "No" or "wait".

Then again, as we have learned, sometimes the adversary slows down the process as seen by the "Prince of Persia".

Our Father has promised to answer our prayers according to His Will and in His time as long as our prayers are IN ACCORDACE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT'S WISHES.

Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be provided for you.- Matthew 6:33

Things don't always work out the way WE want, they work out the way HE wants. It's a hard lesson to learn. It does not mean you are in sin, or disobedience. He's teaching you to abide and depend on Him.

Disobeying God will not get your prayers answered but Gods will be don't not ours. If in your heart you know you are a good Christian then be patient. God may be trying to teach you patients or faith. Gods perfect timing. You can not rush the Lord, and if He does not want you to have what you are asking for, then you are not going to get it. If He thinks that its not the best thing for you then you won't get it. Trust is the key. No matter what the out come is, if you can still love the Lord when he exerts His will then you are a true Christian. No matter what your asking for and no matter what the out come. Understand though God is not a pupit. Ofcourse all script applies to your life.

let me see. Genesis 12:10 - now there was a famine in the land & abram went down to egypt to live there for a while bec. the famine was severe.

does that mean in this verse abram does not have any FAITH bec he did not pray to god to stop the severe famine? why did he went to egypt?
and as far as tithing, those who DID NOT RECEIVE THE BLESSINGS mean they lack faith?

and if you say that god did not answer prayers bec. you have sin, do you have to be perfect & sinless for god to answer your prayer?

Leslie, was Christ being disabedient and in sin when He prayed in Luke 22:41-42, yet what He prayed for was not granted.

How about the Apostle Paul was he in disobedience and sin concerning what is written in 2 Corinthians 12:7-8? He also did not receive what he prayed for.

Please stop screaming at God and know He hears you. Examine your life, heart, and soul. Make sure there is no unforgiveness or bitterness being harboured. If there is you must invite God to help you deal with that "first" by His Spirit. Be open for correction and be obedient to the word of God in addition to instructions from God. Be blessed! shary8757

Mike - like I said in my first response, sins of omission is when God tells you to do something or say something, and you don't do so - this is disobedience to God. Sin of commission is when God tells you not to do or say something, and you do it anyway - this is also disobedience to God. Read the Bible whenever someone committed sins of omission or commission, they were in disobedience to God, thus God did not answer their prayers and did not bless them. Obedience to God and not sinning are Biblical keys for answered prayer and blessing. If you do not think so, you call God and His Word a lie.

Mike #2 - Lack of faith DOES cause prayers not to be answered - read the Bible, according to Romans 14:23 - anything NOT done in FAITH is SIN. Also read all of Hebrews - God ONLY blesses and responses to FAITH, anything else is FOOLISH presumption. Also, a side note on 10% - read Malachi 3:6-12, and Matthew 22:21 - when you don't give 10% of the money you make to God, you rob God and have a curse on your finances. ALL of what I told you is in the Bible, so either God is a liar or you are. From your statement, it sounds like you may be brainwashed, and NOT lined up with the Bible.

You learned something most people don't know and many so called "CHURCHES" will not teach.

God always answers prayers,we just don't always like the answers. The answers are no,yes, and wait.Or if you prefer go,slow or no.The answers I have a hard time with are no and wait.Sometimes when prayers aren't answered it is because of a sin hindering our prayer lives.Always it is God's timing, and who are we to question God?
---somme8743 on 6/29/10

Here is something else that will help get you answered prayers: (1) decide what you need - don't just come to God just because, without knowing what you need. (2) read scriptures that promise the answer you need (covers your case). (3) ask God for what you need, being spacific (using Scriptures). (4) believe you have recieved (it's already done). (5) refuse to doubt (this cancels out the answer). (6) Meditate on the promises of scripture for what you have asked. (7) give God the glory (praise) that you already have the answer (speak and believe the Word).
---Leslie on 6/29/10

what are you asking for?
---mike on 6/29/10

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

15And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Know His will
Know that He hears you because it is His will
Know that you have because He hears you

give an ex. of sin of omission commission?

my exp. is pastors always use 10% blessing. i was in bondage with that stupid teaching waiting to be blessed after giving 10%.
after researching, proverbs & ecc. commands to sharpen your skill & work hard to succeed. that's not lack of faith, sin of omission or commission but lack of skill & brainwashed.
another exp. is a pastor told me that self middle of sin.
god & christ himself use the word I. what were they pertaining to - PERSON. & being a person you gain relationship (w/c christianity is all about).
reason we miss blessing is not bec. of lack of faith but we are deceived in following somebody else's interpretation of the bible
---mike on 6/29/10

If God has not been answering your prayers, it is NOT something God is or isn't doing, it is something YOU have or have not been doing. Check these things, so God will answer your prayers: (1) is there any sin (omission - failed to do that God has asked of you, or commission - done that you were not to do) in your life that you have not repented of? (2) is there any unforgiveness in your life (toward God, yourself, or others)? (3) is there any lack of faith (including worry, doubt, fear, unbelief) in your life? (4) have you been walking in love with others? (5) are you in obedience to God and His Word? (6) are there any religious traditions/beliefs that prohibit you from being in faith to get answers?
---Leslie on 6/29/10

what you are experiencing is too much weight on your shoulders.
lighten your load. you don't have to be a martyr.
also you can use your common sense.
finally, accept & love yourself. not selfish love but recognize that you are a person & you don't have to be somebody else.
---mike on 6/29/10

Sandi, what is it that you are praying to God for?
Are you in a relationship with Him? Do you know His Character and what He expects of you?

Do you spend time worshipping Him? and Praising Him? Do you enter his gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with Praise? Or are you just praying for what you want God to give to you?

Because sometimes God holds back answers because the thing that we are asking for isn't the right thing for us. It may harm you in the end. He sees the bigger picture and doesn't want you to get hurt if He gives you something you want.

The book of Job was a LOVE STORY (because Job did not abandon God).

Is His present kingdom of peace (Matthew 5:3) inside of you and you simply don't realize it? Satan can only foolishly challenge the kingdom when we embrace the kingdom with fear and weakness.

2 Timothy 1:7 RSV
"God did not give us a spirit of timidity".

Luke 17:21 KJV
"the kingdom of God is within".

Gods' spirit within restrains satan....

2 Thessalonians 2:7
"only he who now restrains it".

If we would simply shed all the lies that teach fear and weakness, we would learn that satan is no concern of ours.

Psalm 82:6
"I say, "You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you".

Could it be that you just do not like His answer? I learned that there are three answers to our prayers. Yes, No, and Wait.

I used to pray, expecting God to answer like a Santa Claus, with my wish list. If I did not get my way, I would believe God was not answering my prayers.
---Trish9863 on 6/29/10

You've not said what you're praying for, sandi.

C. S. Lewis said that nothing scares the devil and his minions more than when a Christian looks out over a landscape from which all sign of God has disappeared, asks why s/he has been abandoned, yet STILL intends to obey and follow Him.

There is another thread on this issue, btw.
