1 Cliff, Eloy is correct, you do not believe what the very Word of God tells us who have faith in His Word. I know not every Christian believes the exact things, but mostly all of them. They have faith in His Word, and obviously you do not. You want proof in order to believe it. Scripture has enough passages to confirm other passages to the meaning of what God wanted to convey to us, and He knew not everyone would understand every detail, but knew if we truely were saved that He would reveal a lot of things to us through the Holy Spirit, things that will come to pass for our future, but you do not believe in His Word by faith on things that have happened now and that will happen in the future because of lack of faith.
---MarkV. on 7/25/10

Considering that heaven is such an important incentive, why has scripture not provided you all with a clearer picture of what it's all about. Afterall you will be spending all of eternity there.

Or maybe heaven is just being dead, and the peace of death is the reward.

With perpetual pain and suffering in hell for those who don't get to die....
---atheist on 7/24/10

1Cliff,you go on clinging to your form of reality. I'll go right on holding onto Gods hand and accepting he is a supernatural God and not bound by mans concept of anything, and I'll keep on expecting a miracle because we only get from God what we have faith to believe him for. Miracles haven't died, but it sounds to me like you are calling me a liar about what happened. Jews prayers,I know people don't like to hear this but anyone who doesn't accept Jesus Christ as the son of God who died for our sins and rose again does not have a working relationship with God and is not under the New Covenant with Jesus as the only mediator between God and man. Without him as mediator there is no path for prayers to reach God. Sorry sometimes the truth hurts.

At the passover communion The Lord said, lit.Gk: "Let not the heart of you be troubled, believe in whom God, even in me believe. In the home who's Father of me are many dwellings, if not I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you: and if I go and prepare for you a place, I am coming again and will receive you to myself, that where I am, you all may be also." Jn.14:1-3.
---Eloy on 7/24/10

Elder, Just trying to be consistent..IE If the sword is figurative then so are the horses! Figurative and literal in the same verse?
"What makes a Jew..dying so bad?" ahh 6 million? Hardly "a Jew" (you think?)
If you're eating literal food then you need literal facilities" Si? No?
I understand the "awesome "power of God,but vegetation, fire and people need oxygen, water is "H2o" right? (doesn't the "o" stand for oxygen?) Like I say, I live in the real world ! Agape!
---1st_cliff on 7/24/10

PS 1Cliff, I just noticed when I reread your comment that you also called me crazy. Thank you, that is what people do when what someone else has said that they don't want to believe gets under their skin. They attack by calling names and trying to focus away from the statement which makes their steadfast convictions get a break in them. The best defense is an offense and thats what they do when what someone else has shared begins to give them a twinge of thought of,maybe, just maybe they could be telling whats true. Well miracles are true and only a very foolish person hides from the power of prayer and Gods move. He doesn't follow mans idea of him,he follows his plan for mankind and that includes answered prayer and miracles.
---Darlene_1 on 7/24/10

Eloy: Yes, God alone is good & being in His body of believers gives us the assurance of being partakers in His goodness. My point is while we will sit at God's table, that's not all we'll be doing because we've been saved to serve not only in this life but also in eternity. So, it won't be all sitting & talking. That's only a part of it! :)
---Leon on 7/24/10

"What are believers going to do in Heaven after death on Earth?" This certainly isn't a question for unbelievers because unless they become believers before their earthly death occurs, they have no real understanding (apart from God the Holy Spirit) of what Heaven will be like. Like the song says, "Everyone talkin' 'bout heaven ain't goin' there."

For believers, God's word explains all that we need to know on this side of eternity.
---Leon on 7/24/10

The holy city the heavenly Jerusalem (Revelation 21)which comes down out of heaven from God,has a wall 12,000 furlongs or 1,500 miles in length. This would make it larger in area than many countries or states around the world.

Obviously life in the city in heaven will be similar to life in the city when it transfers down to this earth.

Thank God the invitation is "Whosoever will may come" - not limited to just 144,000. A numberless great crowd are seen in God's temple (Rev.7:9-15) and again in heaven (Rev.19:1)
---Ernest_1 on 7/24/10

Cliff, again, explain how to determine the difference between "literal v/s figurative."
Christ will ride a horse and the sword in His mouth is the Word of God. That is proven by other parts of the Word.
Eating and needing a toilet is really off base. Someone can drink and not need the equipment.
There is no need of oxygen as we know it to have a fire. All of the years of "scientific" evidence has been destroyed.
It is clear that you don't understand the power of God. What makes a Jew or anyone else dying so bad? Only a worldly mind does.
"Pray not my will but thine be done." Remember that part also.....
Your mixed JW doctrine is showing also.
(Still love ya though. Praying you'll come on in.)
---Elder on 7/23/10

Darlene, I prefer reality,Why? well we have a large mental health unit here where the residents all live in peculiar fantasies! (and they are locked in).
When I see stories like yours my mind goes back to Europe 1935-1945 when Hitler put 6 million Jews in the furnace without interference from God! (you imagine that they didn't pray?) Human beings suffering horrendous torture, but he lifted your car over the board? I dunno, maybe I missed something!
---1st_cliff on 7/23/10

1Cliff,a thought. We don't have to stay in the realm of reality. We'll be spiritual beings, the old rules on earth mean nothing in the new earth because God makes the guiding rules and they can be as far out as he wants them to be. I've seen God's work on earth and he can do anything. Example, I was driving down a highway with deep ditches on both sides full of water on a two lane road when I saw a 4x4 board laying 3/4 across my side of the road,I had no where to miss it,I yelled Jesus,my friend with me yelled theres power in the name of Jesus. We missed that board,I looked back in my mirror and it hadn't moved and I hadn't swerved,God lifted my car up over that board. You talk abouut two women high on the spirit of God we were and grateful.
---Darlene_1 on 7/23/10

Alan,I believe what scripture says is "man's"home(Psl.115.16)
No one has seen heaven, we can only speculate from the info given!
It's where God is (Our father which art in heaven) with His 100 million Angels!
He did not create the earth to populate the heaven. He said "be fruitful multiply and fill the earth"
Jesus promised to take some to heaven and rule as kings and priests. Problem= everyone says "I'm going" forget the earth!
God does not change his mind!
---1st_cliff on 7/23/10

Cliff ... As so often, you tell us what you don't believe, without telling what you do believe!

What is your description of heaven?
---alan8566_of_uk on 7/23/10

1st cliff, I have told you of things in heaven, but you do not receive my word because you are not from heaven. "Let come your kingdom, let be done your will as in heaven, also upon the earth."
---Eloy on 7/23/10

vegetation, soil, rain, oxygen etc. are not all earthly! As a matter of fact earth is not earthly, but all creation is made from God which is heavenly. Where does the earth abide? answer: in the midst of the heavens and surrounded by the heavens. Where did the earth and soil and rain and oxygen come from? answer: from my heavenly Papa Jesus whom created them all, as well as he created the heavens, and he created all things for his pleasure, and his throne also is in the midst of the heavens. 1st cliff, as long as you endeavor to compare alien ideology with Christianity you will arrive at bunko: for other philosphies and religions and myths cannot be matched with Truth.

Heaven is definitely a real place.

Revelation 2:7 tells us that the tree of life is in the midst of the paradise of God.The third heaven is called the Paradise of God, 2 Corinthians 12:2,4.
So heaven has the tree of life growing there. Hebrews 11:10,16 describe a heavenly country in which God has built a city.

Revelation 4:9,10 pictures the redeemed in heaven praising God and saying, "we shall reign on the earth". This must be during the 1000 year reign with Christ (Rev.20) before the Holy City comes down on to this Earth and Paradise is restored here(Rev.21,22)
---Ernest_1 on 7/23/10

Eloy/Alan/Elder, You're just transferring everything earthly to heaven...not necessary 'cause God promised a "new earth" which would mean transferring everything back here...Make sense to you?
To have vegetation must have soil, rain, oxygen etc... all earthly!
No mention of animals in heaven except Elder told me Christ was going to ride down from heaven on horseback!(with a sword sticking out of His mouth)
No mockery if you're going to eat, you need a toilet.Right?
You have to stay within the realm of reality!
---1st_cliff on 7/22/10

Cliff ... I've not yet been to heaven, so don't know what it is exactly like.

I was asking you who told you that there were definitely no animals there, and you've not sanswered.

Since humans are earthly, why should there not be other earthly things there?
---alan8566_of_uk on 7/22/10

1st Cliff I have heard you and many more use the "literal v/s figurative" argument. No one has yet to explain how you come to the conclusion of which is which. Do you accept what you want and call it literal and everything else is figurative?
Your worldly "wisdom" betrays you. Why would there need to be toliets in heaven? The place that you mock in your statements?
Do you really think that animals don't commuicate? They even get their message across to humans today.
It all goes back to the fact that you reject the written word of God and what He has said. Maybe because it conflicts with your lifestyle even though you are a good person.

1st cliff, You do not know the way of God yet. For there are indeed many plants and trees in heaven which grow beside the river, just as the scriptures detail. But what you will not find thoughout our heaven are any weeds nor tares nor thorns nor thistles. I can assure you that Jesus and myself along with all the saints and prophets delight greatly in partaking of the wonderful heavenly fruits. Jesus did not transform into a nonphysical vapor or phantom, but he took his complete physical body back up into his kingdom, and he will also return with his same body. We grow fruits and vegetable, we eat and drink, and all our animals are tame, even as Noah took the lions and the lambs together upon the ark.
---Eloy on 7/22/10

Alan, Are you suggesting that heaven is another "planet?" It would have to be to have earth(soil) rocks, mountains, trees, rivers ,vegetation, animals, houses,
Maybe you're thinking of "Shang-re-la?"
because these things are definitely "earthly!"
---1st_cliff on 7/22/10

the tree of life is in heaven.
---richard on 7/21/10

Who confirmed that to you?

It is pure supposition.

Eloy, Don't give me that "mumbo-jumbo" about not understanding the things of God!

Plain and simple There are NO animals in heaven!period.

Man was given "dominion" over the animals, this is an earthly mandate!

They eat grass and vegetation...there is NONE in heaven!

I show you black and white..and you say "it's red"!!
You're a good man Eloy. just a little too much influence from the fundamentalists!
---1st_cliff on 7/21/10

1st cliff, your misjudgment is vain. As I have said before, I can lead a horse to the water, but I cannot make you drink the water. "The natural person receives not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to that one: neither can know that one, because they are spiritually discerned." I Cor.2:14.
---Eloy on 7/20/10

Leon, We will be living the good life. And we will worship and sing praise the Lamb who has built the glorious city of God and all of the dwellings for us to joy. We will sit at the table with Jesus and the saints and the prophets and we will speak of the wonders and goodness of God.
---Eloy on 7/20/10

Ernest1, I don't see the 1000year reign in heaven, unless Satan takes the armies of the Earth up which does not equate right to me.
I see people in heaven b4 the reign-Rev 19:1
I see the King and His army come from Heaven and war with the beast and his armies.-Rev 19:11,14,19
I don't see Christ and His armies go back to Heaven.
I see Christ reign 1000years-Rev 20:4
I see Satan loosed, gathering armies on Earth, and surrounding the saints.-Rev 20:8,9
Heaven and Earth fleeing and passed away-Rev 20:11, 21:1
I see the new heaven and earth and the new Jerusalem-Rev 21:1,2
I don't see any in heaven but do see God dwelling with man on earth-Rev 21:3
Am I missing or misunderstanding something here?

Eloy, You also have trouble separating the literal from the figurative!
So in heaven there will be heavenly plumbers to install toilets (an eating and drinking necessity) gold fixtures?? Animals talking (like Dr.Doolittle)Tables and chairs? Grape growers (to make the wine) Glasses and bottles? No Eloy , these are "earthly" things Except for the talking animals,it would be interesting to hear a conversation between an elephant and a hippo! (you think?)
---1st_cliff on 7/20/10

The Bible teaches that all the saved will be taken to heaven. They live and reign there for 1000 years, and then descend in the Holy City back on to this earth to be made new to enjoy eternity here. When the earth was destroyed by WATER the Ark took God's people above the earth and returned them. This time it will be destroyed by FIRE when the wicked surrounding the descended city will be destroyed by fire for ever and turned into ashes. Rev.20, 21 and Malachi 4.
If all the wicked were destroyed by everlasting fire all would get the same punishment. A loving God will punish them for ever with death not torture them with life in flames!
---Ernest_1 on 7/20/10

1st cliff, We the citizens of heaven indeed eat and drink up in heaven: and also all the blessed animals in heaven are both able to speak and to praise God: "I say to you, I will not drink from here forward of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in the kingdom of Father of me. That you all may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every creature which is in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, up to him that sits upon the throne, and up to the Lamb for ever and ever." Mt.26:29+ Lk.22:30+ Rv.5:13.
---Eloy on 7/19/10

Eloy, Yours is the classic example of not being able to separate the earthly from the heavenly!
Flowers, tree leaves and fruit, lions, lambs and snakes are all "Earthly" things to be restored in the new earth, where righteousness will dwell, the restoration of Eden (if you like) Not heaven, there are no animals in heaven! Not even food! air, water etc.

Ernest_1, "And they will go forward, and look upon the carcases of the humans that have transgressed against me: for their worm will not die, neither will their fire be quenched. And many of those who sleep in the ground of dust will awake: some to life everlasting, and some to shame, to horror everlasting. The Son of man will send forward his angels, and they will gather them which do iniquity, and will throw them into a furnace of fire: there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. And these will go away into EVERLASTING punishment: but the righteous into life ETERNAL. And the smoke of their torment ascends up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night. Is.66:24+ Dn.12,2+ Mt.13:41,42+ 25:26+ Rv.14:11
---Eloy on 7/19/10

Because God kills a wicked person on earth does not mean that that person has received God's full judgment, God forbid, by no means: for that is only the first death: because the soul is eternal, and there are two final destinations after this life on earth where the soul can go to for all eternity: one is the eternal abode of glory which is heaven, and the other is the eternal torments of pain which is hell. These two places which The Everlasting One has created, are from everlasting to everlasting and are prepared for the everlasting souls.
---Eloy on 7/19/10

Larry: What the Bible says about the believer's heavenly experience is absolutely true. Yet, many of us are fixated on the "Revelation...glimpse" of eternity & think that's all we'll be doing "forever". The Bible shows "SERVICE" to God is an integral part of our praise & worship. Angels don't spend their entire existence gathered in corporate praise & worship? The Bible shows God often has them engaged in other activities (i.e., ministers, messengers, warriors, guards)? Presently, we're "a little lower than the angels" (Ps. 8:5) In heaven we'll be elevated above them. (Lk. 1:1-14) To whom much is given, much is required ~ it's not slow pitch friend! :)
---Leon on 7/19/10

Christians need to look very carefully at the teaching of eternal torment in hell fire for the wicked. Unable to reconcile this with a loving God has made many atheists. It is true that God is going to punish the wicked and destroy them by fire, but Malachi 4:1,3 describes the wicked burning like stubble and will be left with neither root nor branch, for they are reduced to ashes!
Our loving God therefore is going to use eternal punishMENT and not eternal punishING! Every man will be rewarded according to his deeds. Some more or some less! So there must be a halt somewhere. The effects/death is eternal - but not the punishing! Praise God He is too loving, kind and just for that!

a friend, A-men. Our Papa God has such wonders awaiting for us his children, unspeakable wonders. He showed us how he will remove all wickedness away from among us, and all things that offend, and cast them into the furnace of fire, the blazing and unspeakable fire from heaven, and how this Sodom and Amorrah fire will not harm us as Shadrach and Meshach and Abednego. The sun will not burn us by day, no any cold by night. There will be no consuming heat, and the Lord Jesus himself will be our Light. The flowers will not fade, the leaves will be for the healing of the nations, and the fruits thereof will not end. Try Revelations 5:11... and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, and living creatures and elders. And the number of them was myriads and myriads, and thousands of thousands,
saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.
And I heard EVERY creature which is in the Heaven and on the earth, and under the earth, and those that are in the sea, and all who are in them, saying, Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him sitting on the throne, and to the Lamb forever and ever.

Larry: This is not slow pitch friend. :) It's true, all OT & NT believers will praise & worship God in everything we do in Heaven. Some bloggers seem to think we're going to be in a heavenly camp meeting, an eternal PTL church service. I hear it all the time on the radio/tv, etc. As it is on earth, so it is in Heaven. Believers in Heaven are saved to serve God in whatever "universal" capacity the Lord desires. I believe we won't spend eternity perpetually gathered in an assembly praising God. Everything we do collectively & individually will be to His glory, honor & praise. Believers are saved to serve! That's what we're being groomed for on earth. The Bible makes that abundantly clear.

You can't mean anything, if you don't say anything.

My questions are reasonable. If people believe in heaven and that it is such a wonderful place to be in forever, then someone must know something about it, and that something presumably should be somewhere in the 'word of god'.

Now I know of some here who don't believe in a burning hell, and so believe they will live happily and forever with god, and those not with them (dead) are sorely missed.

But if you believe in a burning hell then you must resolve the question somehow.

The questions are there with or without me asking them. Can you not answer, at least for yourself?

probable answer to a_freind's question: "You mean you and God will be happy in heaven knowing that your family and His creation is burning in Hell. How cold are you and your God?" aka

Does that mean tears for your loved ones eternally punished in hell? I don't think I could have a good time under those circumstances...Could you?

See what I mean?

If you do not feed fuel to the fire, it will not keep burning. Your words and your logic are his fuel.

So your memories when you get to heaven only include those people you knew who made or make it to heaven? (What if they are not dead yet, like your children? Do you remember them until they die and 'forget' them if they go to hell?)

Or do you just start all over and have no memories at all?

If you have no memories at all then how can you be you? And if you are not you, then what's the point?

Do you have a body in heaven, and why would you need one? Why would you need mansions or any other display of material wealth?

Is there biblical reference for this or are people just making this stuff up?

We can only surmise.

1 Cor.2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

What are believers going to do in Heaven after death on Earth?

In heaven itself, the major aspects are
1: WOrship
2: Judgment Daniel 7:22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High, and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands, and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Atheist, Christians will not know their loved ones who didn't accept Jesus Christ as their savior are not in heaven and they will not be able to look into hell. Heaven is a place of peace and joy unspeakable and those two things would never allow for peace or joy. This life on earth will never be perfect but the eternal life we have through Christ with God will be. There'll be no sadness or sorrow and heartache won't even be remembered. Plus we will live for ever. There will be a city with mansions for all and we will walk on golden streets which are clear as unto glass. Sounds good enough to me with Gods love for his people,to keep me serving God for 60 years. Blessings

If there is no more wickedness in heaven and hell remains then are all those in heaven continuing their lives knowing that if there loved ones are not in heaven with them then surely they are in hell with those and the pain remains knowing where their loved ones are.The tears flow on.

Read Reve 21:1 forward. As many have said we will worship God but there are other scriptures that point to us receiving rewards for what we do on earth. But we aren't going to heaven we will receive a new body and all things will be renewed that means the current heaven and earth will pass. New ones will come and we will dwell on that new Earth. The Bible also talks about a governmental system when Christ reign on earth not sure if this passes over though. Over all we will have a whole new world to discover in a new Body. This body will be like the one Christ had when he rose from the dead. What he was able to do so will we. I will find the relevant scriptures and post them.

a_friend and anybody trying to employ noisy reason where silent reason needs to be:

probable answer to a_freind's question: "You mean you and God will be happy in heaven knowing that your family and His creation is burning in Hell. How cold are you and your God?"

Do you (plural) really not see the pattern?

Now, maybe if everybody be silent to his questions and give Him time, the Holy Spirit might be able to work with him. Otherwise, all you are doing really is feding your own flesh.

Nobody respond by saying that "we need to blah, blah, blah... Sometimes, to reachout you need to put your arms down.

\\maybe even Dancing before Him Like The Way King David Danced\\

David danced in his birthday suit, according to the Bible.

However, in many pieces of pious literature, the blessed in heaven are depicted as being unadorned--or rather clothed in the glory of the Resurrection.

Some things we will enjoy in heaven
1. Perfect understanding
2. Complete peace in every matter
3. We will work(if it can be called work) in the Master's service. We will do his bidding.
4. We will have the opportunity to enjoy true worship and praise as the ages roll.
