What Is A Narrow Gate

Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Please give your definition of the "narrow gate".

The concept of the scripture is simple, it means that the most common way of life that people choose to live in this(world) is not the way that leads to heaven, the way to heaven is narrow and only a few find that path The broad easy way of life leads to destruction. It's the Hard/narrow path which leads to Heaven.

Matt 7 does continue to explain the door is Jesus. Many false prophets have and will come in His name bearing false witness of Him.
The Door is Christ-the Hebraic pictorgraph for Dalet[letter D] is a Door. Classical Hebrew script it is two lines and a corner overhang called an "Ear". Yehovah fore-tells us "through the Door of YuDah comes the Messiah" Micah 5:2
Seed spoken of in Gen 3:15,way prepared by Jn1:1 confirmed by Matt 1:23-25 Immanuel-God with us-agreed by the Word in Flesh-Yeshua,Jn10:9,Lk 13:25,Jn 10:7-9 and in Rev 3:20
Behold I stand at the DOOR, and knock, if any man HEAR My voice, and open the DOOR, I will come IN to him, and will sup with him, and [he] Me...he that have a EAR let him HEAR...

Question, if all sins are not covered by Christ, but only our past sins upon baptism question arises who or what covers the sins committed after baptism?

I never said ONLY past sins baptism all past sins are blotted out ...and I never said any other name will sins be forgiven

remember John told us if you say you have no sin you are NONE OF HIS (Christs)

the difference is religious christianity is no different than the sinner ...ONLY difference is they have Christ dripping on their lips practicing lawlessness IN HIS NAME

the NARROW GATE is about OBEDIENCE not the simplistic LIE of simply saying Christs name given by false ministers of the worlds christianity 2Corin 4:4, Rev 17
---Rhonda on 7/27/10

mima, it means Christianity is NARROW MINDED. There is only ONE WAY to salvation, Jesus IS THE GATE. Jesus is the way, the truth and the LIFE.

John 10:9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Is a Gate the same as a Door?

The NARROW Gate, Door is Hebrews 10...we enter an NEW and Living way, through the veil, that is to say HIS FLESH, meaning I am Crucified with Christ!!!
---kathr4453 on 7/27/10

If you add to this passage Matt.11:28-30 to the 1 quoted above, it can explain the narrow gate as well. "Take my yoke upon you", the Lord Jesus said. What is HIS yoke? To act in TRUTH, RIGHTEOUSNESS, JUSTICE, FAIRNESS, LOVE etc. Living in these means living in the narrow way. It is not a multi-choice way. It is not a way where you can have Jesus teachings and contrary teachings mixed and living together(broad way).
---Adetunji on 7/27/10

For a sin to be forgiven (covered) It must first be commited, and then repented for.
Future sins have not yet been commited or repented for. When they are they too will be forgiven.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I cannot confess to God that I have stolen, if I have not yet stolen.

I cannot ask God for forgiveness for that which i have not yet done.

Actually, Siyyid 'Al Muhammad Shirazi, aka the Bab ("gate") was the forerunner of Baha'u'llah (the Founder of Baha'i) in the same way that John the Baptist was the forerunner of Jesus, they were two different people. (In fact, Bahai's claim that the Bab is the return of Elijah and John the Baptist).

The word strait as in the King James Version means 'troubled, pressed in, pressured' and is very applicable to our day. Christians are persecuted more and more in various ways. We find the way to get tighter and tighter as we mature in Christ, leaving out our old angry, bitter, gossiping, and debating nature among other things.

---Cluny on 7/21/10

Actually I did not know that, but I did observe that your words are always carefully chosen and not one to speak to hear yourself speak.
---David on 7/23/10

There's only two roads,"he that is not with us is against us" choose the narrow or the broad, the choice is free.
The narrow is more difficult, but the rewards are grater..(recommended by Jesus because the wide one leads to distruction)

Interesting note- Baha'u'lla ,(founder of Bahai) is called the BAB (gate) 5 million and growing...I think I'll pass on that "gate"!

" religious christianity preaches LIE all sins are "covered" by Christ - truth is
PAST sins are upon baptism. ---Rhonda on 7/21/10

Question, if all sins are not covered by Christ, but only our past sins upon baptism question arises who or what covers the sins committed after baptism? Some have the audacity to say they are sinless. Most sensible people of course would not say that. So back to the question who or what covers sin committed after baptism? If you believe anything or anybody besides Jesus (including yourself) can cover our sins then you are into works and self-deluded!!!!

Mat 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

He is saying!
Theres not a lot of ways to see him or understand him.
But, more like, only one way!
Saying, you have to see, with my heart!
You have to love, as I love! Or at least, try to understand my love for you!
You have to enter through me! Here he is telling you how to enter heaven.

Like, if you could justly narrow your gate of vision and focus in. On my heart!
You could see all so clearly!

This is what he is saying! Peace!
But, its so easy to use your eyes to see, right!

narrow gate is obedience ...hard to comprehend seeing religious christianity preaches LIE all sins are "covered" by Christ - truth is PAST sins are upon baptism

Christ said MANY would call on His name through false ministers of worlds christianity 2Corin 4:4 and He would say they are NONE of His

obedience is one of key themes in NT yet false christianity teaches the BROAD WAY and the license to sin in name of Christ

the NARROW are the FEW (the LITTLE Flock who follow Christs examples) and OBEY The Father through Christ and communion of Holy Spirit which dwells in those who have been called to ONE Truth - Christ is not divided as religious christianity preaches

Jesus is the gate,john1:1 says inthe begining was the word and the word was God, and the word became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus said in jn 14:6 i am the truth, way and the life no man enters exept through Him. We donot have religion we have relationship,we are to become one with Christ, the word says what ever you give your self to you become one with that. So we are to give our selves to the Word of God which is JChrist jn 6:53-54 says we are to eat his flesh and drink his blood and He will raise us up at the last day!!
---donnie on 7/21/10

The broad road is the world, the narrow gate is the only gate to heaven and there are few that will give up their worldly attitudes, (lifestyle) and ignorant mannerisms in order to get there. It's not just about riches, we are to forgive, live Holy and work at being perfect as God said he is. People say you cannot be perfect but one scripture clearly states you can, not by our own strengths but through Jesus Christ, I guess no doubt Very difficult but possible through him who saved us.
---Carla on 7/21/10

I personally believe the narrow gate is Jesus Christ.

If we look at the entire world and consider just how small a percentage of Christians there are compared to the total population, we can see how the words "few there be that find it" are applicable.

Of course since satan has entered our churches and turned us against one another it is used for us to judge one another as Christians because we dont all hold the same doctrine.
---JackB on 7/21/10

If the many false doctrines represent the Broad road, then the narrow gate has to be the truth, that of which there is only one.

I tend to tke the words as they were spoken!

It's easy to get trhough a broad (wide) gate, and the mass of people stream through it.

A narrow gate is not so easy to find, and there are not hoards of people streaming through it, so if you go through the narrow gate you are not following the crowd.
---alan8566_of_uk on 7/21/10

The key words here are: And few there are who find it.

Look at the next verse, Matt. 7:15 regarding wolves in sheeps clothing. Who are the wolves in sheeps clothing? Wolves in sheeps clothing look like good little lambs, good outstanding christians but are they? We are to follow Jesus Christ and his words only as given to us by his apostles who were eyewitnesses.

If you didn't enter in by the narrow gate (Jesus) then you are not on the narrow road. Example if you entered as a thief and a robber you are following Paul and not Jesus.

---barb on 7/21/10

Many of us know what it was like being on the world's road, rather than on the Lord's road, before we were saved. It is the difference between being wild and careless, to being tame and caring: between desiring to please self, rather than desiring to please the Lord God: between being wong, as opposed to being right. When you follow Christ, it costs you everything, but when you lose your life for Christ then you will find your new life in Christ. Surrendering up your life to Jesus, and accepting his life in the place of your life is the strait and narrow way.

The only way to know is by scriptural witnesses/OT prophets which Christ verified his mission with. To those that could see/hear anyway.

The prophets of the Old Covenant. If doctrine goes against the prophets, truth is not in them.
Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Matthew 23:31
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

Know any?

You have heard of christians who thinks that anything goes. they do as they please.
They eat as they please
They drink as they please
They marry and divorce as they please.
They worship as they please
That way seems right to them, but the end os death.

Luke 6:46 They call him Lord, and do not the things which He say
Matthew 7:22 Many of them say, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
But their works are works of iniquity ( deep rooted sin/ transgression of the law)
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The "narrow gate" is Jesus Christ, as He said in John 14:6, ..." I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me." The broad way is all the false teaching that is out there saying that you can be sincere about ANYTHING you want, as long as you are sincere you will be okay.

Mat 7:14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.-KJV
Luk 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture

The Narrow Gate is YAHUSHUA (JESUS) that begins at the Path of Love, Truth, Holiness, Purity and Obedience. It's only opened by the Blood of YAHUSHUA (JESUS). The Scriptures say that "...without Holiness, no man will see the LORD." It's "Narrow" because it is the Road less traveled. It's not a popular or "fun" Path to go by. It's "fun" and easier to go on the Wide Road that leads to the Lake of Fire (Destruction). It's always easier for us to go our own way since we were all born in sin. With a sin nature, we will always gravitate towards sinful ways and it's lusts. To travel through the Narrow Gate, we have to "crucify the flesh daily". Not "fun" and not easy, but, it's WORTH IT.

1 salvation plan which Is according to Mark 16 v 16, Acts 2 v's 37 - 41 which Fulfills Matt.28 v's 19 - 20 which Is The remnant of The Early Church, including living a clean & Holy life before God. I love allegory and 'experts'.

Mat 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

At least, we know that Robert does not have narrow ear canals and keeps spiritual Qtips at hand.

This is an old legend that has been disproved by archaeology around the old wall of Jerusalem.

There was allegedly was a small gate in the city wall known as the Eye of the Needle. I is just large enough to get a grown camel through, but you had to unload the camel and the camel needed to crawl on it knees to get through it.

Again this is legend and it is not true.

The NARROW GATE is not a WHAT, but a WHO.

For way to many years people have been deceived into believing the way is through some preacher, teacher, pastor, priest, parent, church, religion, etc, etc.

Look around you Mima at all the doctrines
which have separated the followers of Jesus Christ.
The teachings, in these many doctrines, which all claim to know the Truth.

If their doctrines are different, how can they all be teaching the Truth?
If there is only one Truth and only One way, these many false doctrines are that which represent the Broad road.

If the many false doctrines represent the Broad road, then the narrow gate has to be the truth, that of which there is only one.
