Christina, very good answer again. You are so right. When I was lost I thought I knew what love was. How wrong I was, it was a self-righteous love.
When I first beginned my walk with Christ, an older sister asked me if I loved my wife, we had split up, she had left me. I said I did. She directed me to 1 Cor. 13 and told me to memorize it, and at some time I would know what True love really was. Without love it profits us nothing. For God is Love. That love is so much different then the love we know without Him. Thank you Christina. Blessings to you whether you are a mom or not on the Mothers Day.

Mark, the thought comes to mind that the enemy may appear as an angel of light, and there is much that may look like love, but is not. Some of the "best" people I know, (going by their actions), deny Christ. They seem loving and good. When younger, I thought i was loving and good, but coming to KNOW God, I see that I was not, but my own righteousness was self serving, self centered. Knowing God, I see how I fail to love. Only when led by the Spirit am I able to love and obey
---christina on 5/6/11

Christiana, another great answer you gave. We love Him because He first loved us. Without His love in us, we would not be able to love Him in return. Words like those make it clear that without Him loving us first, we would never be able to want anything to do with Him, as we use to be when we were lost, walking according to the prince of the power of air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, the lost.
---Mark_V. on 5/5/11

Even the Athenians (basically pagan only because they did not know the identity of the creator) in Acts chapter 17 understood the concept of being an INTEGRAL part of the creator (they already revered the qualities of divine goodness...peace, truth, justice, etc,).

Acts 17:28 "'In him we live and move and have our being'...".

We have been transferred into the kingdom of Jesus and He shields us from the spiritual effects of the law (sin/death). Now, in the age of eternity, life is ETERNAL (in Jesus).....

John 14:6 "I am..."THE life" this age.

Colossians 1:13 "transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son".
---more_excellent_way on 5/4/11

If we make the decision to live spiritually INSIDE the 'embodiment of purity'/"forgiveness" (Jesus, the FINAL SACRIFICE), we can no longer be separated from God by sin (the concept and effects of sin still exist, but only for the unbeliever)....'SOUL sin' (spiritual sin) no longer exists for those who reside in Jesus, we should not even be conscious of such a thing because we have claimed the FINAL sacrifice to "purify" our flesh and have also embraced the Spirit of God that came WITH Jesus to teach us how to have a clear conscience in our daily lives. The Spirit of God was given to us when Jesus was glorified....

"for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified" (John 7:39).
---more_excellent_way on 5/4/11

The Israelites repeatedly offered sacrifices, but because we have the final cleansing, we should "no longer have any consciousness of sin" (Hebrews 10:2).

It's true that because we have received "knowledge of the truth" that if we return to having a 'foundation of repentance' (chapter 6) instead of JESUS as our only "foundation", then "there is no longer any offering for sin" (Hebrews 10:18, our only cleansing/offering of SIN is JESUS), do not return to having a foundation of 'repentance from the law' (it would be a deliberate rejection of JESUS AS THE ONLY CLEANSING FOUNDATION).

"after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins".
---more_excellent_way on 5/4/11

One of the bad habits that have been learned from the traditional teachings about God is that God should be known as being EXTERNAL, but His external influence/effects on this world have been done/completed in 'the age of time' (God performed "CREATION", this is the "EXTERNAL" effect of God), but Jesus came in the fullness/completion of "time" (this is the age of ETERNITY) and now God can only be fully known if we allow Him to be INTERNAL (if we become an INNER TEMPLE of THE OUTER temple) by letting His Spirit baptize/consecrate us to Jesus (not H2O water, LIVING water, John 7:38).

1 John 4:13
"By this we know that we abide IN HIM and HE IN US, because he has given us of his own Spirit".
---more_excellent_way on 5/4/11

Catherine, It is natural for God's children to love their Father, because we know that he is the best Father in the whole world, and there is no one who can match him.
---Eloy on 5/4/11

I love God because He first loved me. Without Him it is impossible to love, although there may be some pretty good imitations of it.. I cannot truly love on my own, and even my love for God is a gift from Him, as all good things come from Him. As for what is there to love about God? Absolutely everything!
---Christina on 5/4/11

More Excellent, very good advice. Of course if he was born again the first time, he could not be born again the second. Hebrews 10:26 makes that clear. If the person is a genuine believer, he can never lose his salvation and come back and get it again, for there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. Just because someone receives the knowledge of the truth does not make someone saved. Many receive it and never commit their lives to Christ by faith in His Works. They know the works of Christ, but do not respond by faith to it.
---Mark_V. on 5/4/11

Eloy did not LOSE anything (NOTHING can change the fact that Jesus did what He did on the cross...a FACT that will never change). His offence was that he set his heart against another human being (he must learn not to do that).

Eloy only MADE IT WORSE by following through, but his OFFENSE came first.

God desires that we not set our hearts against each other (care about HIS WILL, not His book)....God is LOVE, so shall we be.

Scripture was not given to Christianity (or any group), it was given to ALL HUMANITY.

Do not cause harm, destruction, deception. discontent/sadness, or injustice (it is God's WILL, do you care?).
---more_excelent_way on 5/4/11

Catherine, because God is pure unadulterated love.

More excellent way: No stratagem intended, It was a forthright statement. Since you like 1Corinthians 12:31, please read 11:31-32 & 13:5-6. God determines what love is, and He wrote such things as the following *1. A Christian may not falsely or hypocritically judge (which you have violated), but we are obligated to contend for the faith. Eloy has been rebuked more than the one time needed, and by a greater number than the three reputable witnesses necessary. He is an unrepentant Apostate and a Heretic, and please read the following verses for more instruction(s) *2.

But Eloy, you are not God, a sacred person, or a sacred thing.

Consequently, you cannot be blasphemed.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/3/11

Eloy, here is another example of your sin,

"lea, donna666"

In your heart, you deliberately slander Donna66 by adding another 6 to her name. Sin was in your heart and you followed through with it. Goes to show you are not without sin. And you had just given a passage on Heb. 10: 26 that if you sin willfully, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins. That would mean again, you lost your salvation since you preach sinless.
Perfect? Not by a long shot.

Many believers LOVE God,...BUT their "love" is no good. That's right! You see, their "love" allows statements like this..

"Beware, Eloy has been rebuked for being an Apostate, and/or a Heretic".
Too many times, I have seen ATTACKS disguised as "warnings" or "comments".

God doesn't appreciate the "love" you have to offer Him if that is what your mind is like.....why do you waste your time pretending that you have a tender, peaceful heart to offer Him?...simply DON'T BOTHER, you cannot fool God.

mary, Not so, you err. "blasphemy" means, to speak evil of or to God, or, evil of or to sacred persons or sacred things. It is having a spirit of desecration, which mockingly ascribes the works of the Holy Spirit to Satan. It is calling good evil, the truth a lie, and the Holy unholy: God, and kings are blasphemed- I Kg.21:13, mountains of Israel are blasphemed- Ezk.35:12, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are blasphemed- Mt.12:24-37+ Mk.3:22-30+ Lk.22:63-65, Moses and God and the synagogue and the law can be blasphemed- Acts 6:11-15, the word of God spoken by Paul is blasphemed- Act.13:44,45, synagogues of Satan blaspheme- Rev.2:9, and God and his tabernacle and them that dwell in heaven are blasphemed- Rev.13:6.
---Eloy on 5/2/11

Eloy, as far as I know, God is the only one a person can blaspheme, not a human being, so you have not been blasphemed, okay?!

You said: but instead my almighty Lord made the abyss of hell for those whom he hates with perfect hatred

God made hell for fallen angels:

Matthew 25:41
"... into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels"

You said: My words are truly proven to be from Christ

Can you provide 2-3 witnesses who can attest to this? Or are you again speaking alone on your own behalf?

John 5:43

Why do you mock her by changing her nickname into the Number of the Beast?
---StrongAxe on 5/2/11

lea, donna666 will rise up and blaspheme me and blaspheme all born-again Christians, because she is unregenerate, therefore her words are manifested to be antiChrist and antiChristian. My words are truly proven to be from Christ, and rebellious flesh is enmity against the truth I preach because they have pleasure in unrighteousness and refuse to come to the knowledge of the truth and they refuse the light, else their sins be exposed.

Do not be deceivied, for God is not mocked: He has not made hell and the lake of fire in vain. My God did not make the lake of fire and brimstone for anyone whom he loves unconditionally, no not at all, but instead my almighty Lord made the abyss of hell for those whom he hates with perfect hatred, and these antiChrist and antiChristian sinners will be cast into the everlasting fire and torments for their sinuous dissings against Christ and against his Christians.

lea-- Eloy will rise up in "righteous" wrath (but so be it) when I say, God DOES love you unconditionally. That does not mean He "winks" at your sin. That would be merely tolerance, to your detriment, but NOT love. I say God loves you unconditionally because of
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.How great was His LOVE toward you, even when you did not deserve it, even though He knew you would sin. And I don't think He has had a change of heart since then. He IS your FATHER.

But remember Heb 12:6-7 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Expect Him to correct you as a loving father does.
---Donna66 on 5/1/11

Do you both love and fear your children, etc.?. Should God both love and fear us? (as though it's possible?).

Mark 12:30 commands HOW TO LOVE HIM.

The METHOD uses ALL of our heart/mind, soul and strength...leaving NO ROOM in us for FEAR.

Unbelievers need to recognize that they will eventually stand before God whether they like it or not (they need to learn to fear the 'day of reckoning' as inevitable), but once we come to know Jesus, our love should be made PERFECT so that we only LOVE God...

1 John 4:18
"perfect love casts out fear".

If you truly do "love" with a deep, intimate, perfect "love", then neither I nor God or anyone should have to convince you not to fear Him.

moreExcellentWay, Yes, all flesh IS COMMANDED TO LOVE the Lord God: "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments: Hear O Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord: And you will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your life, and with all your conscience, and with all your might: this the first commandment. And the second like this, You will love your neighbor as yourself, There is none other commandment greater than these." Mk.12:29-31. Also, Dt.6:4-7+ Lk.10:25-28.

You wrote: We are NOT commanded to love God, no, not at all.

What about Luke 10:27, Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30?
"And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind, and thy neighbour as thyself."

You wrote: The strong delusion is alive and well for those who follow man's way and claim that it's possible to both love and fear God at the same time.

Psalm 111:10, Proverbs 1:7, Proverbs 9:10 say "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom". These are exhortations. They do not add "but you should avoid wisdom because it is incompatible with loving God".

Lea, God is not your mother, nor does he love you unconditionally, that is merely a fantasy. For the Lord God Jesus Almighty is the Everlasting FATHER, and his love is only for those whom follow and accept him.
---Eloy on 4/30/11

We are NOT commanded to love God, no, not at all. Do your children command you to love them?. Does your husband/wife command you to love them?. "Love" can only be given willingly and freely (without expecting something in return).

Mark 12:30 does not tell us that we must love God (it tells us something else, this is one of the secrets/"depths of God"). No one who FEARS God will ever be able to figure out what the verse means (ask God and He will help).

The strong delusion is alive and well for those who follow man's way and claim that it's possible to both love and fear God at the same time.

Fear was only the BEGINNING of "wisdom".

To add to the answer to the question I will give another passage, that tells us that God has to love us first in order for us to love Him and live'

"And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so "that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul," that you may live" (Deut. 30:6 ).

Though this words were spoke to Israel, the same words give us spiritual life. God has to circumcise our hearts so that we can be able to love God.

The question should be, 'What does God see in us that He would come and die on a cross", by wicked men in power for only a few chosen people, which He did choose, yes He did, before the creation of this world. Knowing how rotten His creative-beings are and was gonna be. Why, oh why, would this true living God come from the comfort of the Father to do such a thing? Jesus did not even look human when those wicked men through Him up on that cross, and then, they had the audacity to mocked Him. God's love for a few unworthy people. Who can understand God? Raise your hand. Thank You Jesus that there is a hell. I am just thankful I will not be ging there. Ha, Ha.

John, you said it all in few words. Great answer. No one could possibly love God if God didn't love him first. Jesus said to them'"If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God, nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do"
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, (believers) even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, by Grace you have been saved"
Only when God loves us first are we able to love God.

2) Because I developed a relationship with Him and when I got to know Him, He was the most merciful God, most faithful God to me as I ever could imagine.

3) When God could have kicked me to the curb as a Christian who backslid, He chose to come after me and forgive me and restore me.

I agree with Bruce5656. Without the Father man would not know love.
For "This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. [And] If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his [fellowman] whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? He who loves God, loves his brother also. No one has ever seen [the invisible ethereal essence of] God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love has been brought to full expression through us."
