Most everyone gave real good answers. God did not cause what is happening today but knew already that it would happen due to sin, and what sin would accomplish in the lives of many. All is before the Lord in the present. What does happen to us is by the Providence of God. What man did for evil, He turned it for good.
Man is corrupt from his birth, and will think of only sinning,
---Mark_V. on 11/13/10

The Holy Bible tells us to not fear man but to rather fear God , who can not only kill our body but can take our soul and put it into hell. We should fear God as a type of respect unto him.
---judy6696 on 11/12/10

Joseph, I love your answer, but the fear talked about here is fear of the Lord. Not evil or any circumstance in life. Mark E is correct, the problem is that not many know the God of Scripture. And that is why I believe what Frank said when he said,
"The Lord said fear him that after he hath killed has power to cast both body and soul in hell! In Psalms it is written serve the Lord in Fear and rejoice in trembling.
It also says the Lord delights in them that fear him."

That is the Word of God. And many have lost that fear or never had it. There's passages upon passages teaching to fear the Lord, from Deut. to Rev. "Let all the earth fear the Lord" pretty much makes it clear what we ought to do.

\\P.S. God should be running the army in Afghanstan and Iraq.
---Donna5535 on 9/21/10\\

Perhaps--but whose army?

The mahometan insurgents strongly believe that God is running THEIR fighters.

It comes as no surprise that those born in a society where women have equal right can understand a kingdom. Our betrothed is a King.

The church (woman) does not have equal rights with the Lord (husband) even to find her mate. We must be brought unto him by the Spirit.

Examples about women's rights in a kingdom as applied to salvation:

The church cannot save that which the Lord declares to be damned.
The church's doctrine cannot override the word of God.

The spirit of the church (man) cannot lead to God. Paul said the Spirit of God seeks the things of God. (1Corinthians 2)

The church cannot change the word of God to save anyone.

The church (for the most part) has lost the fear of the Lord.

Mary ... You say Frank's comment does not deserve an answer. You are right, a lady could not give the answer it deserves.

I could, but am a gentleman.

Being that let me just say that it is utter rubbish. Clealry the marriage was not made in heaven, and the husband not the one God would have chosen.

But to say the woman deserved what she got because hung around sleazy places, is a downright insult.
---alan8566_of_uk on 9/24/10

"reaping what they sow" Frank?! That doesn't even deserve a response.
---Mary on 9/24/10

To start with, Vashti is a type and shadow of a rebellious church with rebellious people that only follow Jesus when he likes whatever they want.
Many can be seen here. And sadly, many are women who don't think twice about the way they talk to others either in voice or post. Some of the guys are just as bad with their way of slamming others rather than humbling themselves and considering a matter.
And many, like Vashti will lose their souls for their arrogance.
Secondly, the battered women that fear their husbands are probably not "what God hath joined together."
Websites, bars, and other man made forms of gaining a spouse many times are after the lust of the flesh and they reap what they sow in those cases.
---Frank on 9/24/10

Frank--Vashti served her purpose in the long run by getting kicked out as queen. It opened the way for Esther. And as far as "fearing" her husband and obeying him, sorry but she had some self-respect by not parading herself in front of a bunch of drunken men!
---Mary on 9/23/10

Part 2: Also, Frank, there are plenty of women who fear their husbands. Just go to your local emergency room, I'm sure you can find many there.
---Mary on 9/23/10

The Lord said fear him that after he hath killed has power to cast both body and soul in hell!
In Psalms it is written serve the Lord in Fear and rejoice in trembling.
It also says the Lord delights in them that fear him.
This teaching against fearing the Lord is an abomination as the the describes the wicked as there is no fear of God in them.
Those who teach in opposition to fearing God are leading people to hell.
If Vashti feared her husband she would have been obedient and not lost her place.

many people do but the ingredient that DOESN'T exists in the church is RELATIONSHIP.
---bill on 9/22/10

I would have to say they do not know the loving Saviour I know.

We are to be like Jesus. Did He simply give commandments without affection and love. No way. He loved all people equally, just as our Heavenly Father does, and loved them with all His heart. Heck, He died for them, and us.

If we are to be like Jesus we must love others as much as ourselves. Easy to say, hard to do. Especially when you just tore the bumper off my car in the church parking lot and drove off without leaving a note. Can I love you after that? Sure, if I know that everything I am, everything I have, and everyone I love is a gift from God.
---Mark_Eaton on 9/22/10

mark eaton

Consequently, few people know God.
many people do but
the ingredient that DOESN'T exists in the church is RELATIONSHIP. all you hear is this list of vague ambigous 'don'ts' added w/ THREATs OF punishment. start of the 'sermon' you hear that god WILL PUNISH YOU IF YOU DON'T OBEY his word & many obey but they just don't know how.
you ask an issue, they answer 'that is not biblical'.

no wonder many fear bec. of the threats, & told to shut up & finally you're told to give your money.
but acceptance or being welcomed. NON EXISTANT
that is why i don't go to church anymore

The Lord didn't make the world we live in today [or thousands of years ago]. MAN made this "world" of corruption, deceit, war, etc.. Neither did satan CAUSE/perform all the corruption, wars, etc. (satan can ONLY tempt/encourage evil). We have nothing to fear from satan, he is being restrained until the end comes...

2 Thessalonians 2:6
"you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time".

There will always be evil because the wicked choose to do satan's bidding, but The Lord will remove us from what the whole world will suffer.

Revelation 3:10
"I will keep you from the hour of trial which is coming on the whole world".

The economy, BP's oil and Corexit, etc. is enough to scare any sane person (especially if they have a young family dreaming of a bright future), but it is not practical to FEAR what is inevitable.

The Lord will provide a NEW heaven and a NEW EARTH where happiness will be THE rule. God did not give us a spirit of fear and weakness ("timidity"), but one of such STRENGTH AND COURAGE that we need self-control...

2 Timothy 1:7
"God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control".

We will soon go home. God will now "shake" His church ('spirituality'..."the heaven")...

"in order that what cannot be shaken may remain".

Do you FEAR your mother, father, brothers and sisters, spouse/wife, girlfriend, children and close friends/buddies?

FEAR IS NOT a part/element of LOVE.

MANY EXCUSES are made for "FEAR OF GOD" including "reverential awe", but loving AND FEARING at the same time is NOT POSSIBLE (satan is the god of CONFUSION).

Do not resent/fear God's correction. God will teach you the error of YOUR way when/IF HE decides it necessary, but if all you're violating is "propriety" (properness, manners/fashion/etiquette, etc.), He will not 'pick' on you and prevent your enjoyment of life (He wants us to have JOY in life).

God takes no pleasure in knowing that we feel/hold Him responsible as a KILLJOY.

Mark Eaton, you took the words right out of my mouth.

It saddens me deeply to see no fear in man's hearts.

I told my boss EIGHT MONTHS BEFORE it happened that he was going to get stuck in a foreign country. (word of knowledge).

Eight months later when that Volcano erupted in Iceland, he was stuck in Paris. He didn't believe me.

Now he's having an affair. You would think since I told him I would pray for him and ask Father God to get him home safely, that that would put the fear of God in his heart? NOPE, he's comitting adultery now. How sad is this world?
---Donna5535 on 9/22/10

I am sad to report that few people fear God at all, and even fewer people fear Him more than their present circumstances.

Few people seek His counsel before making decisions. Few people examine the world through the eyes of God. Few people consider the needs of others before their own. Few people give preference to others before themselves. Few people bridle their tongue. Few people live sacrificial lives. Few people trust God with every part of their lives.

Consequently, few people know God.
---Mark_Eaton on 9/21/10

Whatever happens to me in this life is by God's providence, and I think I know Him well enough to know He's no sadistic prankster.
---Cluny on 9/20/10

Cluny, ahhh but God is sly and smart and very wise!!

Remember when he told David, go this way and I'll make it sound like there's a mighty army marching towards your enemies. Wasn't that cool of God to do that? How could we not love Him? He's just the BEST!!!!

P.S. God should be running the army in Afghanstan and Iraq.

The Father "has not given [me] a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. This is the 'spirit' or attitude, that I choose to embrace. When fear arises within me, and attempts to exert itself, I make every attempt to refocus my mind, to remember, and to confess His promise, and His word. Especially this word,"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, For You are with me, Your 'rod' (Your mark of authority) and Your 'staff', (Your support) they comfort me. No evil shall befall [me], Nor shall any plague come near [my] dwelling." Because I have chosen to make the Lord my refuge, the Most High, is my habitation. All praises Father, for Your mercy, guidance and influence.

Mike, I'm so sorry you had a very bad experience with Christianity. :(
---Mary on 9/20/10

donna first we must as believers realize that fear of the lord as scripture tells us is the begining of wisdom.fearing God is not and should not be emotionally based, rather an understanding of who he is and what he offers, and what the consequences of our decisions will be when we reject him.

of course. since christianity demonizes everything, christianity turns everything into sin, then fear, doubt, shame, guilt will creep into your heart. i know that is what i have experienced from christianity. they have replaced common sense with S I N replaced working with 'give your tithe' & you will be rich. malachi 2:7 says the priest has caused many to stumble. their solution is to blame YOU for the failure not their teachings
