TBN Pledge A Thons

TBN is having another one of their so called "PLEDGE-A-THONS".
Today they had a person who said Jesus did not use a "WHIP" to run out the money changers out of the Temple. This person said Jesus used "MUSIC" to run them out. What are your thoughts?

Cluny, it is true that Orthodox church music is beautiful, but it is also very hard to be part of, due to the lack of any musical instruments.

The 'psaltis' is specifically there to be able to guide the tune, and has to have a specific skill in following a tune without an instrument.

Most people cannot do this, though, much as we would like to
---Peter9556 on 6/11/13

ok ok ok cluny, I love good ol fashion gospel music. some church music is so pompus and way above my head. I am down to earth with just good Godly music.
---shira4368 on 6/11/13

And if you want to hear the most holy Godly music, listen to Eastern Orthodox Christian music.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 6/11/13

turning over tables of the money changers don't sound like music to me. tbn..."thick bonogne network". you can find music all thru the old testiment but not much in the new testiment. I have often wondered why. Godly music in church stirs the soul. you wanna hear some Godly music? get on utube and watch the Rochester family from blacksburg, south carolina. that is the most Godly family I know and they live what they sing.
---shira4368 on 6/11/13

Looking forward to reading more. Great article post.Really thank you! Really Cool.
---marketing on 6/10/13

I watch the WWE and have never seen anything close to it on TBN. I choose TBN. Cable, satellite and direct tv and all the other networks have nothing but trash.Perhaps a few good programs here and there but I think the christian networks are very much needed. The world has their networks(many). The christians only have a (few). I will take the few. Regardless of the flaws.

If a person wants to watch unholy programing, all they need to do is watch TBN and Daystar.

I don't support TBN as I would like to, but I have pledged in the past. I enjoy a lot of the programming on that station. Especially the pledge-a-thons. It gives me a chance to turn off some of the unholy programming on cable and local tv. I need the break. I don't know about you.

\\the person is changing the word "cord" to a different word "chord":\\

then, they were "slain in the Spirit" and started laughing uncontrollably. Benny Hinn was there, too.

//And he found in the Temple them selling ..., and them coin changers sitting,//

this game is fun. if we add the letter "h" to each infinitive, the money changers would be shelling bullocks and firstling sheep and doves, and the coin changers ...
---aka on 12/29/10

Music? Rob, I may not stop laughing until sometime around the Super Bowl.
God can use TBN or the nearest bolder to get his word out so I am thankful for every soul saved.
However I've heard some very bizarre claims from Paul and Jan Crouch, Mike Murdoch and others on TBN. Again as I stated earlier I took a look and notice some of the "THONS" were recycled.

You do much the same thing, Eloy, by saying that the Hebrew "Eloi, Eloi" in Our Lord's Passion means "light" instead of God, being the opening of Psalm 22/21LXX.

Glenn, Amen, Amen
---shira3877 on 12/28/10

the person is changing the word "cord" to a different word "chord": And he found in the Temple them selling bullocks and firstling sheep and doves, and them coin changers sitting, and having made a whip out of green stems he drove out all them out of the Temple, and the firstling sheep and them bullocks and the money-chargers, pouring out the coins and overturning the tables. It is written, My house will be called the House of Prayer: but you all have made it a Den of robbers." Jn.2:14,15+ Mt.21:13.

Robyn, both C.N. and T.B.N. have a responsibility to present sound doctrine. ChristiaNet attempts to do this by allowing people to respond. And one hopes at least one blogger gives an informed response. TBN does not do this, and in fact, has fired several people who have tried to do this. If your confidence is in the Lord Jesus, please, please, find a church that preaches good doctrine and protects lambs.
---Glenn on 12/27/10

Robyn, God is good and God is TRUTH.

Satan is evil and the father of lies.

How can you say Daystar and TBN are doing good work when they support, accomodate, and provide venue to those who time again have been exposed and proven to be FALSE TEACHERS and servants of Satan.

They are the very people who are talked about in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, and Romans 1:18-32.
---Rob on 12/27/10

I think TBN and Daystar do a good work. They have the platform to reach millions around the world. Just what we as christians need. Most of the programs on TBN/ Daystar does not necessarily reflect the opinions and endorsements of TBN. Just like CN. Here at this blog. Our comments are ours. CN may or may not be in agreement as to what is said on these posts. But there are guidelines. TBN and Daystar has guidelines that has to be adhered to, in order to be on their stations. All of the programming suppose to be christian centered.
---Robyn on 12/22/10

Well brother Rob, those Pledge-A-Thons running this week is recycled A-thons from 2007.

I'm not sure what that is telling us but probably nothing good.

Good to hear from you.

My point is that there was not just one crack in this pot.
---Cluny on 11/10/10

Karen D. the Bible tells us who are TRUE CHRISTIANS and who are TRUE BELEIVERS AND FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, we are to expose FALSE TEACHERS.

In the world we live in today, I often wonder how many people on these blogs are passive and cowards because they don't want to offend anyone, and how many will consider being mavericks and renegades for having the courage to take a stand for GOD'S TRUTH.
---Rob on 11/10/10

Cluny ... You are quite right about chords not being around then, but even if they had been, the idea of jesus using music to drive out the money changers is a bit unrealistic.

Had He suddenly produced music which would be so objectionable to the moneychangers that they fled the temple, would it not have had the same effect on the ordinary people?

It seems to me to be a rather crackpot idea!
---alan8566_of_UK on 11/6/10

Bravo Cluny. Great point to make! I have a little music knowledge but had forgotten that so glad you shared it.

\\ He said the word should be "CHORDS" and not :CORDS".

May someone who majored in music speak?

Ancient music was not as we know it today, melody supported by chords (several different pitches played at once) but monodic, that is unison, whether played on instruments or sung.

This includes music at the time of the Bible.

Therefore, Jesus could not have used "chords" to drive out the money-changers.
---Cluny on 11/6/10

The answer is certainly not scriptural (wonder where they got that idea). But I know a lot of music, so-called, today that is about as painful to listen to, if played at full volume.
There is so much nonsense taught on some Christian TV programs...and nobody is heard to question it. Just proves that the words of men are often unreliable.... AND

Rob...Why do you watch such nonsense as TBN???
---KarenD on 11/5/10 is easy to see that satan masquerades as an angel of light. he has convinced you that the God Head does not consist of God the Father,God the Son and God the Holy spirit.
---JIM on 11/5/10

Lawrence, I hope you're not actually saying that the Son and the Holy Spirit are not part of the Godhead! They are three but one and most definitely the other two are part of the Godhead!
---Mary on 11/5/10

Darlene, you are correct that Jesus made a whip out cords, but this person I saw on TBN said it is a mis-translation. He said the word should be "CHORDS" and not :CORDS".

Talk about people doing what is written in Romans 1:25.

He said when you put CHORDS OF NOTES together you make music. which is what Jesus did in John 2:15. The sad thing about it all is after he said this, people stood up, began clapping their hands, and shouting "AMEN".

TBN claims to be serving GOD and doing GOD'S WORK, yet they along with DAYSTAR provide a venue for FALSE TEACHERS.

This is proof they are SERVANT'S OF SATAN and are doing SATAN'S WORK.

I Just Thank God He doesn't have an under - cover - boss. Because if He did, surely the devil 2nd.Cor.11 v's 14 - 15 would push for the trinity leaders into putting the under - cover - boss in the god head also. For the devil has used man to put 2 others in god head that don't belong, god the son & god the holy spirit.

Whoever said that should spend more time reading what the Bible ACTUALLY says, rather than fancifully reading between the lines.
---StrongAxe on 11/4/10

OK? I'll play along, what's the punch line? I mean about Jesus driving out the money changers with music and all. :)

Next question!
---Bill on 11/5/10

With teaching like that they deserve to starve. Music? Cmon, I find it hard to believe someone would even try to stretch the meaning of the text this badly. Still I'm not surprised sadly.

Why did TBN make that claim? Was it to make Jesus judgment on those who use the temple (or nowadysa "church") to make money from, seem less harsh?

But Jesus did drive tyhem out, however He did it!

I would not give money to the TV evangi-millionaires.
---alan8566_of_uk on 11/5/10

Sounds gimicky to me. Jesus DID use a whip, scriptures say so. Galations tells us to beaware of false (or another)gospel given. Sounds like TBN all over it. That is why I stick to GMC great family shows & movies.
---candice on 11/4/10

I don't care whether Jesus used a WHIP, or MUSIC, or BOTH.

My donation to TBN has always been, and will remain, $0.00

I wonder if they will start calling us Non-Donors "unfaithful" or something. Whatever. I just don't believe in supporting these TV ministries.

I don't think that they know what they are talking about. How do they PROVE that they know that their claims are correct?
---Sag on 11/4/10

I think they need to go back and study their Bible. Christ used a scourge John 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords,he drove them out of the Temple,-, cords in Latin means whip,English is whip which means something to inflict pain. I don't think people should ever pledge,James 5:12 But above all things my brothers swear not, neither by heaven, neither by earth, neither by any other oath but let your yea be yea, your nay, nay, lest you fall into condemnation. Pledge is a binding promise or agreement. Swear is to promise or assert as true. You see by the comparison they both are the same that means we are not to pledge to give money. I also think that means clergy shouldn't be up there begging for pledges.

In IC.XC.,
---Ignatius on 11/4/10

In the gospel of John 2:13-16 states that Jesus chased the money changers out of the temple with a, "scourge" made from rope. In other gospels it just states Jesus chased the money changers out of the temple, but does not mention a scourge or whip. Just as a point of interest, the merchants were charging high prices for the animals they were selling for sacrifices, plus those coming to worship in the temple had to pay a temple tax.
