In the "eyes" of the Lord, there is no degree of sin. The greatest sin is not to accept Christ as Savior. All other sins are covered by His shed blood. Our American society puts sin in an order of seriousness, but God doesn't. (For example: in our society murder is more serious than stealing.)

To God, sin is sin. And without the blood of Christ to cover your sin, you are without hope. Sin is not what sends you to hell. The rejection of Christ as your Saviour is what sends you to hell.

Francis ... Yes, murder vilates the body. No reparation is possible.
And it causes family problems, znd problems for the children.

Dare I suggest that in a way, some find sexual sins so much more "sinful" is because they wish they could do it?
---alan8566_of_UK on 12/10/10

This sin cannot be undone. It violates the human body, the very body which is to be pure.

You can be forgiven, but unlike say theft you cannot make restitution.

It is worse to the individaul
HHMM maybe.

But think about murder, you cannot ask the murdered for forgiveness.

1 Corinthians 6:18

"Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body."

I believe that GOD is telling us that this behavior is worthy of running from. Like other blog posters have indicated, the sin of Fornication has serious consequences in the future.
---Augie on 11/12/10

"If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,)" (1 Kings 8:46), "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God..." (Romans 3:23), "For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:39).

Sin is sin and there's only one punishment for sin... death! Categorizing the types of sin merely makes one a Pharisee. God's tolerance to sin is ZERO!

Cathrine's not totally wrong!

Adultery/fornication affects your whole being both spiritually and physically, it penetrates communities defaults societies and destroys the whole concept of marriage. It penetrates the next generation of family members and can set a presidents that is hard to stop, for lack of knowledge. differently with murder, family members are not influenced to go and murder as a result of a family member killing some innocent being so readily apart from abortion, sexual sin incites murder in the first instance with abortion so it is regarded as worse but none the less (SIN).

consider it that way!

FORNICATION sins cause many problems. I can't find any supporting Bible verses. Instead, MATHEMATICS, and NEWS REPORTS, support things.

Many Men and Women are having sexual relations outside of marriage. This Fornication has led to a lot of unplanned pregnancies. In the USA, 40% of babies are now born OUT OF WEDLOCK. Ouch!!!

As a result, Governments, at both the Federal and State levels, are forced to pay more for: Medical Care, Welfare, Crime Fighting, Jails, etc.

From a family standpoint, most of these babies will end up living in POVERTY. Other family members are affected. It is impossible to gauge the depth of hard feelings. Future marriages are impacted.

When it comes to consequences fornication, adultery and other sexual sins are probably among the most far-reaching. The temptation is wide-spread. And It is hardly ever just one or two people who are hurt. This hurt can last a lifetime. So from a human standpoint, these sins deserve special mention.

The only comparison with other sins I know of in the Bible is 1Cr 6:18... Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. In our human nature we never see it that way! (despite the danger of STDs)

But I can find no scripture that indicates God considers sexual sins the worst of all sins.

\\Catherine ... You say you have researched ... in the Bible?\\

Don't forget that catherine has also said that she "don't need no scriptures."
---Cluny on 11/11/10

Catherine ... You say you have researched ... in the Bible?

Then please tell us where it says "SEXUAL SINS goes beyond sin"
---alan8566_of_UK on 11/10/10

One of favorite TV shows is:

Law and Order: Special Victims Unit

"In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered extremely heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investicate these vicious FELONIES are members of an elite squad called The Special Victims Unit. Here are their stories."

On TV, these types of SINS are more serious than others. I've underlined the buzz words that give me goose pimples.

Well, guess what Cuny, I have done some research. SEXUAL SINS goes beyond sin, it's disorderly conduct. MY goodness SAKES OF LIFE, most of this country ought to be in Jail, including some of the arresting officers.[for disorderly conduct}, it's a law, now, and is used for just about anything that the law wants to get you in JAIL for. Yes. Lasciviousness...lincentiousness means: "Outrageous conduct, goes beyond sin to include-for what is right. Undisciplined and unrestrained behavior, especially a flagrant disregard of sexual restraints. HELLO JESUS! Who's the real criminals, anyone who breaks God's law, and has not been forgiven....HELLO.
---catherine on 11/10/10

\\Hello, you people don't believe nothing that I say. \\

Of COURSE we don't, catherine! You're catching on!

\\Sexual sins are the most grievous to God almighty. \\

So two teenagers who get carried away in a moment of passion is worse from your point of view than murdering Jesus?
---Cluny on 11/10/10

Most people take it like that because the bible says all the sins we commit are outside our bodies but sexual imorality is sinning against our own bodies. To me that does not mean a thief is better off than a fornicator because before God, the consequences of any kind of sin are the same,,,death.
---Bryan on 11/10/10

There's nothing wrong with looking at sins with different magnitudes of destructive consequence, it's called reality.

Reality also that the smallest lie started it all, so in that sense on begets another and it's all the same in one big convoluted mess, but you can't say that a mass murderer is the same as a child lying about taking the last cookie, one is something we'll overlook every time and the other is something we'll always punish.

It's also a sin to be so high minded to be blinded into being able to have intellectual discussion...put that in your Pharisaical pipes and smoke it.

I am GUILTY of thinking this way. However, the sins were: Divorce & Remarriage. Both of which, I believe, the Bible discourages, except in cases of Adultery. May GOD forgive me for thinking like the Pharisees.

According to the Bible, ALL sins are grievous to GOD. The other blog postings list the supporting scriptures. No need to re-list them here. SIN is SIN. No SIN is better, or worse, than another SIN.

I believe that the Bible specifically mentions: Fornication, Divorce, Adultery, etc. because GOD knows that those are SINS that people struggle with in their personal relationships. GOD warns people to follow HIS ways, not what we see or hear in: books & movies, the Internet, songs, etc.

read james 2-10 for the abswer
---tom2 on 11/9/10

No, not that I can see. It is among the worst of all the sins because it involves defiling one's conscience with another human physically, whereas theft and deception are not so much, but in my estimation this almost puts it on a level with murder which most of us see as the worst sin you could commit.

The point I think was being made is that fornication is a sin against one's own body in addition to the mind and Spirit. This especially damaging to the conscience as the memory of the sin is associated with pleasure and a demeaning of human life as an object.
---Pharisee on 11/9/10

Hello, you people don't believe nothing that I say. My answer stands, on blogs. Sexual sins are the most grievous to God almighty. It wouldn't be robbing a bank or chopping someones head off. Look in your Bible tools under fornication, plus other headings. Hallelujah. Hey, folks, God helps me with these. What can I say, and a little studying goes a long ways.

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, The two will become one flesh. But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, (1 Cor 5:15-19)

Doesn't explicitly say that it's worse, but seems to imply it.
---James_L on 11/9/10

Its not any worse. That person is a hypocrite.

James 2:10

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

We are all equally guilty under the law and have no business judging others as a worse sinner.

This is why Jesus was at odds with the Pharisees and why they wanted him dead. He stepped on their self-righteous toes.

The safest way to look at things is just as Paul did. He said he himself was the chief of sinners.

Is someone saying that visiting a prostitute is more horrible than running a place like Auschwitz?
