There are many preachers and teachers out there who claim to teach the Word of God. Multitudes! But pay close attention to Jesus declaration in John 6:63,

"It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

That is, the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation is Spiritual. And as Christ told Nicodemus in John 3:3, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:6,7)

Since the false doctrine is based upon the term "Word of Faith", to counter this false doctrine Christians should instead use the term "Word of Prayer". In this way the source being God, and not the recipiant being man, is the right focus for Christian faith: "Confess to one another the errors and pray for one another, so that you all may be healed. Much powerful the effective prayer of a righteous one." James 4:3.

The word of faith people have a grain of truth in their teachings. Certainly God wants us to be positive. God himself is positive. It is because of this grain of truth that many of the practitioners of the Word of Faith teachings are able to make merchandise of the people.
Example, surely the book of Mormon has some correctness in it, if only the numbering of the pages, however that does not make it correct or acceptable when compared with the Bible.
I cannot bring myself to condemn all the Word of Faith teachings but I do condemn the teachers.
---mima on 11/24/10

I must clarify my previous post. Mark 11:22-24 is in reference to a prayer according to His will. His will is His word. If we pray according to the principles and promises of His Word He hears us "And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the request that we have asked of Him." 1Jo 5:15
But we must "ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. Let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord," James 1:5-7
A part of what I aspire to, is to truly understand how to apply the principle of not doubting in my heart, and to know when and if I am. That is my prayer. I believe I receive. That is the word of faith.
---josef on 11/24/10

Eloy, it isn't worth my time to fully develop the difference between what you perceive (or have seen) is the word of faith and what I know it is. There is a difference and I will leave it at that. Many people forget that the Word of faith is what comes out of the abundance of the believing heart and is unto salvation spirit, soul, and body.
---LG on 11/24/10

LG, Your thoughts of me are irrelevant to my plain illustration of how foolish the false doctrine is for the misapplication of the Word of Faith. Word of Faith says, "name it and claim it", and "blab it and grab it", and this is false doctrine and pure vanity.

I can blab, "This computer is a person, this computer is a person, I confess this computer is a person, I believe this computer is a person, I see this computer is a person, etc. And you know what, The computer will remain a computer, no matter hiow much faith I excercise to the contrary. ---Eloy on 11/23/10

Eloy, I honestly thought you were more mature than this. The Word of faith has to do with the Word of God. Surely you have never heard any of these ministers try to make a computer a person, nor will you find such based in the truth of the Word. I overestimated you as a man who understood that confession of the Word is agreement with God. My mistake.
---LG on 11/23/10

"God never promised us a rose garden"...I think that that may be a song. "For human is born onto maltreatment, and of sons the sparks abound flying off. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution." Job.5:7+ II Tm.3:12. Faith is important, but misapplying faith in order to manipulate God is vanity. For example, no matter how much faith a person exercises they are not able to supernaturally alter reality. I can blab, "This computer is a person, this computer is a person, I confess this computer is a person, I believe this computer is a person, I see this computer is a person, etc. And you know what, The computer will remain a computer, no matter hiow much faith I excercise to the contrary.

pat robertson
mike murdock

---mike on 11/23/10

It this what you are referring to.
"The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the "word of faith" which we preach):" Rom 10:8
"So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God."
"For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." Mark 11:22-24
---josef on 11/23/10

Contrary to this false doctrine, Truth tells us that God alone, our Head, is solely responsible for creation, and not his body nor creatures of clay. With faith, through prayer, we ask the Creator Jesus Christ to help us, and he either does or does not according to His own will and not according to what we ask. I remember praying once that God would give money to a man and his wife whom was in need, and instead God offered him a job, eventhough he refused it. God is in control of his creation, and not man: He measures the days for each soul, He gives breath, and takes it away, he makes the light and the darkness, he makes the worlds and spins them like a top, not man.

The "force" of faith, an unbiblical view of faith, is the foundation of Word of Faith theology. Proponents believe they can use words to manipulate the faith-force, and thus actually create what they believe Scripture promises (health, wealth, etc.). Laws supposedly governing the faith-force are said to operate independently of God's sovereign will -- God Himself being subject to the "laws" of faith.

Things that I've learned from my BAD, non-Catholic, church experiences:

DO NOT allow yourself to get over-extended doing volunteer work, and/or, try to complete some tasks alone, within "impossible" budget/time limits.

OBEY the laws of the land. If a church Pastor tells you to "ignore" them, LEAVE his church.

When you have a question, however simple or stupid, the Pastor should open to discuss it with you. Post-poning a meeting ONCE is O.K. TWICE or more, something fishy there!

ANYONE's personal safety, financial state, reputation, etc. should never be compromised. If so, time to move on.

This blog question sounds like it falls into one of these categories. Leave that church!

John 16:13 "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." 14 "He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you." 15 "All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you."

2 Cor 11:14 "And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." 15 "Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works."

Be careful not to equate preachers who teach faith in operation with the so called Word of Faith preachers. The Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God,Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him,for he that comes to God must believe that he is,and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. The important thing in all things of life is balance and especially in things of the Bible. It isn't unusual for some preachers to focus on one thing and neglect all the rest. Saying though someone can believe and speak into existance what they are seeking is taking things to extremes. It shares some other elements similar to properity theology. Choose any preacher on whether he/she preaches all the Bible.

Ephesians 2 - 18 "For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father." 19 "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God," 20 "And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone," 21 "In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:" 22 "In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit."

So, are you seeking to give glory to a man or the Holy Spirit?

What is the definition of "Word of faith teachings?"

Isn't all of the Word of God, the Word of Faith? (I'm confused so I'm just trying to understand this concept).

I must have missed these teachings, but I was born again in 1983. So what are they and how are they false? or true?
---Donna5535 on 11/22/10

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland for starters. There are quite a few more which others will tell you about, I am sure.
