2 days left until the greatest birthday party in the whole world! Happy Birthday Jesus!
Blessed be The Daystar, O Immanuel, given to us and shines in our hearts, for God with us: For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.
---Eloy on 12/23/10

Rod4Him thanks for the information that is very interesting. I looked it up and it is a practice of some of the Monks of the Orthodox Church. It was based on the Bible verse of go into your closet and pray. They seek to close out all thought and go into the heart by repeating over and over the Jesus Prayer until they become one with the uncreated light of God which, they view as the Holy Ghost. They used to practice a method of breathing in an attempt to join the physical with the spiritual,it was forbidden due to causing possible damage to the lungs. I'm sure you probaly know all that but I was surprised by the lengths people think they have to go to,to reach God in a deeper Spiritual way. There are much simpler ways to achive closeness to God.

Trish, thank you. I just heard a little while ago that the white count in our friend is back to normal. Now they are going to test her for lupus due to all the pain. I will be praying for your loved ones. Its wonderful your daughter is raising those precious children for the Lord. Take care and have a Merry Christmas.
---Darlene_1 on 12/20/10

Darlene, I will pray for your friend. That is scary stuff.

I would appreciate prayer for my kids this holiday season. My sons are not walking with the Lord, and I would love for them to get back to a right relationship with Him. They need Him in their lives and I'm saddened by this. My daughter loves the Lord and is raising my grandchildren in a Christian home, Praise Him.
---Trish9863 on 12/20/10

Hesychasts were people, nearly all monks, who defended the theory that it is possible by an elaborate system of asceticism, detachment from earthly cares, submission to an approved master, prayer, especially perfect repose of body and will, to see a mystic light, which is none other than the uncreated light of God

Nirvana is the supreme state free from suffering and individual existence. It is a state Buddhists refer to as "Enlightenment". It is the ultimate goal of all Buddhists.

Some Hindus conceive of ultimate salvation as absorption into the one divine reality, with all loss of individual existence. Enlightenment is attained by becoming tuned in to the Brahman within. Only then can one reach Nirvana.

Please pray for a friend of ours, she became family, she and her husband take the Holidays with us as they have no family here, she's in the hospital. She was rushed there having trouble breathing, severe neck and shoulder pain, with a skyhigh white blood count. They gave her morphine,it didn't help, they gave her something else for pain ,she had an alergic reaction, and heart stopped, they had to use Crash Cart electric shock to bring her back. They still don't know whats wrong, doing stress test right now,8:22 CDT,she's still hurting badly, blood pressure 87/49,pulse 57,low vitals from heart meds they gave. So far all heart tests are normal. My daughter is with her, pray for her, that she doesn't catch any disease while at hospital. Thanks

Cluny a close friend has shared with me what you meant with the Hesychasm entry on the Blog about Dance in Church and since it is closed I have come here. I just want to say if I misunderstood your meaning and what I entered about it offended you I am truely sorry. I didn't intentionally try to make it mean something you didn't intend, although I am still not entirely clear on your meaning in my own mind, but I can be wrong in my view, and I don't want to do anything to twist what you said and change what you meant, again I'm sorry I don't want to cause anyone to be upset or to feel unfairly put upon. I hope you accept my apology. God Bless

\\John, We talked and took a picture with the person who took us up. He was dressed with a outer cassock, black stovepipe hat without a rim, long beard, and a long ponytail, and he said he was a novice.\\

Novices usually don't wear the riassa (outer cassock) or kamelavka (stovepipe hat), unless the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre has different usages (which they very well may).

Usually, in this country at least, a male novice wears the inner cassock and simple cap (of various shapes).

Cool Rod4him,

I was just curious because the Coptics were relegated to live on the roof of the church.

MarkV/aka, I spent last summer here, went home for a month to get things in order and came back. Thanks for the "well wishes."

One certainly gets a different perspective of "religions" here. Jerusalem is extreemly religious.

Praise the Lord. I had an interview for a part time therapy job yesterday, and was hired. I don't know when I will start, but am so grateful for this opportunity to use my gifts and talents in this venture. //Will you be going to the The Church of the Nativity?//

I'll be in the Manger Square, which I understand is adjacent to the Church.

You may be interested that I have been in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre many times and even on top looking down into what is believed to be the place of the tomb. We were taken there by a Greek Orthodox novice. He said he hadn't taken his vows yet, whatever that meant. He was a very nice person and helpful. I talked very briefly to the bishop to get permission to go on top.

Awesome Rod4him! Enjoy the trip.

//I heard they are doing alot of excavating in the City of David.//

I participated in that dig for about a week last summer. They found an old cistern and a skeleton while I was there. In my area, I just found lots of shards. The area I was in was late Roman times. An area to the west was down to the monarch times.

When I was told the death sentence, and the chemotherapy after two years was not working, and the doctor was going to stop the chemo because he knew the continued treatment would probably kill me, I was then given a contact that led me to a complete healing and a new life. First, if a striken person has any sin in their life it must be completely removed, confess all and ask Christ to forgive you and to come into your life, and to totally heal you from the cancer. Live the holy life of Christ, and depart from all unhealthy lifestyles of wrong eating and drinking and anything that is poluting and harmful. And consuming much artichokes, and broccoli, and garlic, and hyssop (ie: winter savory) and onions in the diet will help.

They ultimately choose what they believe will give them the best chance of survival.

I want to thank all of you who make it a habit to pray each day to continue to pray for all of our brothers and sisters here on line. Though we might not agree on many things, we should not let that stop us from praying for each other. Many never say they are very sick, because they might not want anyone to know, that is OK because no matter what we will still pray for you. 1Cliff reminded again the need for us to pray, Jesus told us when one of the parts of the body of Christ hurts we shall all feel something inside. Let us pray for one another always. Thank you Darline and Trish and others who pray for everyone. This is for the glory of God. This month is very hard on so many people who have lost someone.
---Mark_V. on 12/16/10

John,I realize that alternative medicine has a place in our society, and you are right to say the onus is upon the individual to choose their own path!
I was just sharing my personal experiences! I am grateful to the bloggers who prayed for me, thanks!
---1st_cliff on 12/16/10

Let me make myself very clear. I was NOT recomending any clinic (especially in Mexico).

I was suggesting that you heal yourself naturally and do the research.

There are also many excellent naturalpathic doctors.

As there are many horror stories in the conventional arena as well.

But, its time for you to seek what path you desire to heal with.

I was just letting you know there are alternatives out there. Not to cause controversy or debate.

But everyone must decide on their own journey.

So again my friend let G-d bless you on yours!

1st Cliff Hang in there! The Lord grant you strength..I,too had chemo, surgery, and radiation a few years ago for a stage 3 carcinoma.I hope I never have to repeat it, but honestly, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever endured. I wasn't sick 100% of the time and learned to savor life, moment by moment, as I never did before. I was even thankful for no more "bad hair days"!

I couldn't possibly have followed all the "natural remedy" advice from everybody and their cleaning lady. Even strangers, noting my baldness, accosted me to suggest some unconventional treatment or other. It got tiresome!

Glad to say I've now been declared cancer-free for 5 yrs. Traditional medical treatment helped me beat the odds.
---Donna66 on 12/15/10

John, My brother was a very successful chiropractor, homeopathic, naturopathic, whith a large practice! Never smoked ate white sugar etc.. you know, but of all the cancers people get he had inoperative cancer of the lower spine!(personally I believe he had a faulty x-ray machine) He went as far as he could with conventional medicine,Dr. said "sorry Len , that's as far as we can go",(radiation etc). His wife drove him daily to various practitioners who gave him potions and lotions and ended up with bloodd infections,a Dr.? in Tijuana put him an a heat tent nothing worked. Money was no object but he couldn't buy a cure from any healer! 61 yrs. old.

I had a friend with cancer who went to Old Mexico for alternative treatment, put off chemo. Then found the first treatment didn't work and had to have chemo anyway. She died and that just reinforced my strong feelings against such unproven treatments. My Dad took handfuls of vitamins every day all the things said to stave off aging and sickness. He was also an avid excercise adherent but none of that kept him from getting leukemia which contributed to his death. I don't mind alternative methods as long as one also uses conventional methods too but I think using only alternative is like playing Russian roulette which is very dangerous to take a chance on. 1st Cliff I will be praying for you sorry to hear of your battle.
---Darlene_1 on 12/15/10

Donna, Read the posts before commenting.

Good luck 1st Cliff!

As a Geneticists and Retired researcher. I decided on Natural and have have been successful in my own treatment. You may want to do some research on your own. Just what chances does conventional therapy offer you? Also Suzanne Summers has cured her Breast Cancer Naturally. I don't know who your brother saw. There are many quacks in both the conventional arena and the alternative. Don't generalize based on a bad apple.

But in any case G-d Bless you and good luck!!!
---John on 12/15/10

Darlene, I didn't mean to sound offended, and forgive me for that. This is the problem with "blogging." You can't always, or usually, tell the tone of a person's words when written as opposed to spoken. God bless all on CN and Merry Christmas.

John---8 out of 10 oncologists do not have cancer.!

And Johns Hopkins, Sloan Kettering still does not recommend "natural" cures in place of chemo (where chemo is normally the standard). They are no doubt studying many things. BUT just look at their web sites. Read for yourself the material they put out for cancer patients!

They NEVER say that "nearly ALL Cancer are very curable naturally" I don't know where you got that, but it wasn't from Sloan Kettering.

John, I appreciate your words of counsel, but both my sister-in-law and my brother went to "alternative medicine", and died a horrible death at the hands of these "quacks".
My brother spent $75,000 dollars on their "treatment", but finally had to be carried back to the hospital to die!
Interesting side note= As we stayed with him in his last days,a Polish cleaning woman says "This you brother?" Yes,why? "He been to Russia?" No, why ? "He sing Russian folk song in Russian"! Len spoke no other language, strange!
Aperently we retain everything in our minds,we have trouble with "recall"!
---1st_cliff on 12/14/10

8 out 10 Ocologists will never take Chemo.

And nearly ALL Cancer are very curable naturally!

Sad the average person is so unaware of this fact.

This is NOT some Hippie Guru junk. It comes straight from the NCI and our nations top Cancer centers (i.e John Hopkins, Sloan Kettering)

1Cliff, I too am sorry you are on chemo. It is funny how someones attitude changes when we know more of the person we write to. I do love the points you make because they give me a reason to continue to learn more. I will pray for you brother that the results of your chemo turn out very good. I'm sorry if I have hurt you in anyway on my answers. I wanted you to increase in your faith. I write the only way I know how. From now on my faith in your love for Christ will mean a whole lot. Thank you for your kind words and your own life story. As I said before to others, it is always good to tell those around us how much we love them. This love goes for you too. blessings brother in Christ.

Thank all who are praying for my eyes. The doctor said the the filmy white spots and the black floaters are a result of the gell on the retina breaking off in small pieces. The right eye did that back a few months before the cataract surgery in August so it is safe as there are just a few weeks after the floaters show up that a detached retina is possible so God was with me. The left eye is still in danger of the detached retina happening as it has only been two weeks since the floaters began and the time element is still ongoing for another few weeks for a possible detachment. He said if I get any more floaters or black curtain over left eye to come right back the retina is detaching. Please keep praying for me that nothing happens. God Bless
---Darlene_1 on 12/14/10

Shira, so very true what you say about telling those around us how much we love them. I try to do that every time I have a chance. It could be the last time I see them. I want them to know what is in my heart always. I spoke to my brother before he left us, and told him how much I loved him and what he meant to me, and thank him for all that he had done for me. I held his hand and kissed him, the next day he was gone. My sister, the day before she went into a coma, got her family together and gave each son, (three of them) a letter for each one. She spoke to each one how much they meant to her, that night she went into a coma and a week later died. Some people don't get that chance, the reason we should tell them all the time.

Darline, I'm with you. Concerning my health, all test came out good and no bleeding since I ask you to pray. I did lose my older brother to cancer this past Monday. He had it spread in his body and didn't know it until three weeks ago when he had a problem with his hip. It hurt him a lot and so got checked and they found the cancer had traveled all over. He was my big brother and I got to tell him I loved him so very much. So did his whole family. Please pray for them too. Thanks so much for your prayers.

Please pray for my eyes. After the first cataract surgery,in August,on right eye sight was improved greatly but there has been a cloudy wispy spot which clears when I blink. Then Thanksgiving night I laid acros the bed and just glanced down toward the floor and had a few flashes of light in outside corner of left eye, after it stopped there is a black line and a citcle with black spots on it,I also now have the white filmy spot like the other eye has. The flashes of light could indicate detached retina. I will see the doctor hopefully tomorrow to see whats going on. I am praying I don't loose my sight.

Tommy3007 thank you for telling me that but I never thought you did have a problem with God changing your direction. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough and you misunderstood my intentions. I merely wanted to encourage and caution you and share something I learned from my own experience,God doesn't always take us into the things we are most comfortable in but as you say,so be it. God loves a willing and obedient heart. I never intended to offend you and am very sorry if I did. I was always shy, although I had schooling in public speaking I didn't seek it,but God put me in a leadership position ministering to other Christians. Some other ministers said I was a minister in the fullest sense of the word and I always knew it was God not me. God Bless

Keep the good work brother Tommy. blessings to you.
---Mark_V. on 12/7/10

Darlene, Just to make it clear to you and others, I have no problem with God changing my direction or ministry. He brought me into prison ministry and He can certainly move me out of it. I was really hoping to be able to be more involved here and want only what God wants me to do. Tommy,God gave you a job after a long period without it and stick with it. If God wants you to minister he will make the way for you to do it. Wisdom does not dictate you leave a job to go back to having no way to make a living. Sometimes we get ahead of God,he very well may be working out a different kind of ministry for you and whether you like that or not it will be the one he opens the door to do. Have patience,But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint Isaiah 40:31. Don't ever think you can make a living in ministry by going there without Gods leading or even do a good job for God if its not his choice. I'm praying.

Tommy, I also as Paul said agree with what he said. You are exactly where God wants you to be. If He wanted you some place else you would be there. Could be where you are now He had prepared someone to cross paths with you, for you to give him a revelation that God has prepared beforehand for him, or it could be He has prepared some one to give you something that God wants to give you. God sets the path, all we do is follow. He put many people before my path to be there to help me and teach me and one day my path will close, but God continues with others. I'm so glad you got a job, so many out of work.

If I might ad, If God desires you to do full time into ministry He will provide through the ministry for your needs.

Until then let me urge you to continue working with your hands that thing which is right.

Keep on going and when God desires you to be underwritten by the ministry He will do so and there will be no doubt about it.

For God is not the author of confussion.

And I am telling you this not by assumption but by experience. God Bless, Paul
