1Cliff, No, I do not have all the answers. I have very few answers concerning heaven or hell and on other matters, what I do have is faith that what God said was Truth, and in this lifetime, I will not know all. But I do not gloat over or make fun and sarcastic remarks when a passage is a metaphor, an analogy or a parable, when I cannot understand something, I try to find out the answer. The entire plan of God for us in heaven is not in detail. Many times we have to put the pieces together to reach a conclusion. God didn't give us all the facts of His plan or every detail. What He gave us is enough for us to learn about Him, and mankind. Knowing that His children will learn what He wants them to learn with what He gave us.

Don: I'm very sorry for your loss. I agree with Elder in that your regenerated (born again) spirit will know her born again spirit in heaven & your relationship with her & everyone else there will far exceed the short-lived joys of earthly marriage. Be encouraged, the best is indeed yet to come ~ forever n ever!
---Leon on 1/22/11

Don, your wife will know she was your wife in heaven. Being a husband or wife is to serve. It is a ministry of relationships. I wondered how much I would miss my wife being my wife when we get to heaven. She has been my biggest supporter and helper. If I build a shed she is there driving nails. She bends a lot of them but she is there to bend them.
When I was sick she was there suffering to serve and taking care of me.
It was exciting to be sick just so others could see what a great helpmeet she is.
The one thing I realized is that when we get to heaven, even tho we won't be husband and wife, God will make the relationship there better than anything we have experienced on this sinful earth. So, be encouraged, the best is yet to come.

1Cliff, I do not go around telling anyone that fundamentals are wrong or that Christians are wrong without having proof to back what I say. That is why I ask for proof and did not get it. I have no clue the location of heaven or hell. That is why I don't argue the location. But you do, and the reason I asked.
What we do know from Scripture about heaven is that it is where Christ is at. We will be in communion with Christ for all eternity. Hell is describe very terrible by the words of Jesus, whether the words or literal or symbolic no one knows, yet it does not change how terrible that place is. Since the function of symbols is to point beyond themselves to a higher or more intense state of actuality then the symbol itself contain.
---Mark_V. on 1/20/11

Mark V, I have provided truth that you continue to ignore. Strong's concordance, Holman's dictionary ,etc. Hell is not "under" the grave hell IS the grave!
You tell me where heaven is then OK? You have "all" the answers.
---1st_cliff on 1/20/11

1Cliff, here is the reason why I ask you the questions, you always say that fundamentalist are wrong, Christians are wrong, and go on about how people have hell all messed up, as if you knew what the Truth was. Yet you have provided no proof to what you say they is wrong. Only your opinions. What proof do you have that what you say is Truth? none whatsoever. Here you say,
"Mark V, Go to your local cemetary, view the rows of tombstones, under them is "hell" the common grave of mankind." Of course you made that up since you have no proof that hell is under the grave. You argue on heaven also and you have no idea where it is at either. Satan, you have no answer to where Tarterus is located at.
---Mark_V. on 1/19/11

Mark V, Go to your local cemetary, view the rows of tombstones, under them is "hell" the common grave of mankind.(Sheol/Hades) That's the location of "hell" (Not Gehenna,a figurative hell-fire)
No one knows where heaven is,certainly not visible to humans. It's where God is (Our father who art in heaven,Mat.6.9)
Tarterus is where satan and his angels will reside 'till God deals with there eternal fate.(2Pet2.4.) Location unknown.
Fundamentalists believe in the Mythological "hell", where the dead are still alive!
The only thing "after death" is a resurrection!
---1st_cliff on 1/19/11

once married you are bound until death ... the only biblical exscuse for divorce is fornication, and if you remarry for other reasons God views this as adultery (this does not mean He will not forgive, take David for example) is so because the consequences run into eternity probably.I do not say you will be married in a sexual context, but I am expecting family connections of some sort..we dont have all the info yet to make solid arguments on what Heaven/Earth will be like
---richard on 1/19/11

1Cliff, you gave a lot of words concerning hell but never told me where the location was at?
Can you provide also where the location is of heaven? You have heard both words, and have told people it is not on earth and that you are sure because God told the people to subdue the land and live in it, but only when they were physically alive, had nothing to do after death. So can you provide the location of both places. You said Satan will be at Tartarus, but gave no location.
---Mark_V. on 1/18/11

1st Cliff, The Darkness in the Abyss, as in Hell itself, is so thick that the fires cannot illuminate it. Besides, I have heard, at least, that the hottest fire is black. Could any fireman attest to that?
---Gordon on 1/17/11

Mark V,Psl.16.10 & Acts 2.27 "For you will not leave my soul in hell" KJV "you will not leave my soul in the grave " NIV. translated from Sheol/hades.
That's where the"dead" go!
Satan will be in Tartarus"(hell)2Pet.2.4.(see foot notes regarding Tartarus) a place of dense darkness, obviously not a fire!
Psl.37.29."for the righteous will inherit the land and dwell therein forever"
Psl 115.16. " the highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to man"
Do you need more?
---1st_cliff on 1/17/11

Cliff, I did not need a definition of hell. I already know that. I wanted the location where the lost will be going. "But the sons of the kingdom, will be cast out into outer darkness, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" And since you gave different definitions of hell, where will these people go? To the dump? To Gehenna the hell Jesus spoke of. So where is the location and where will satan be at? Oh, you forgot to show me where in Scripture it said what you said,
"Somehow satan has convinced many that they will be like God and live in heaven (abandoning the earth)" I could not find it in Scripture. How can you be sure he didn't convince you that it was in earth, not heaven?
---Mark_V. on 1/16/11

Mark V, A short treatise on hell.
English is not a pure language, we get "hell" from the German hoelle like the English "hole" (hole in the ground)Sheol Heb-Hades Gr.
Sheol is translated 31 times as "grave" 31 times as hell also pit and death. never linked with "fire"
Tarterus, and Gehenna are also translated "hell' Gehenna-"hellfire" (used as a metaphor by Jesus)
Hades comes from Greco/Roman mythology!A below ground holding place for the dead guarded by the 3 headed dog Cerberus!
---1st_cliff on 1/16/11

1Cliff, if you wanted to be serious you would quote serious matters. You said:
"Somehow satan has convinced many that they will be like God and live in heaven (abandoning the earth)"
Where in Scripture do you find that? It had to come from your own understanding. So is your rebuttal. Heaven here on earth, heaven in outer space, or heaven in the Ozone layer, who cares. Where ever heaven will be that is where we will be. How about the New Jerusalem coming from the sky, is that heaven?
Since you want to be serious, We know Jesus spoke of hell, why don't you educate us where that is at and how you know?
---Mark_V. on 1/16/11

Don, I'm sorry for your loss. But, with the GOD of Love that we know. And, with the GOD Who is a very personable and intimate GOD Who values Relationships...Your wife will know you, I'm, at this point, not convinced that she will know you as her husband, as on Earth, for the Scriptures say that the Saints will be as the holy angels in Heaven (not married), for we will be married to THE Groom (YAHUSHUA /JESUS). BUT, the love between you and your wife will surpass anything you've experienced with each other on Earth. I personally believe you will know and remember each other as having been married. But, Love in Heaven will put all of the past love to shame, (so to speak). Blessings!
---Gordon on 1/16/11

Mark V, It's a serious subject and I don't really mean to poke fun.
God created this beautiful planet for us, said to Adam "be fruitful ,fill the earth" He hasn't changed his mind!
He has a hundred million Angels in heaven (a little higher than man) We were not created to populate heaven.
Remember "New Earth" not for the Angels, Somehow satan has convinced many that they will be like God and live in heaven (abandoning the earth)
Do you really want to leave (home) earth? Are you discontent with God's original purpose?

Mark V,If you read my post correctly you'll see that it's the fundamentalist's belief, not mine.
But you , ah that's something else, you're somewhere between Shangri La and fantasy land, where everything is hunky-dory lovey dovey, tra la la lala!
Does anyone live in "reality?".
Don't get me wrong Mark, I think you're a pretty sincere guy, just caught up in an "ism"
---1st_cliff on 1/15/11

Dear Friends, This verse I've included from the Bible explains why marriages do not occur in Heaven. Rest assured, though, that your wife will recognize you when you get to Heaven, but she will not recognize you as her "husband" and continue to be joined with you as "one flesh" as husbands and wives do here on earth. Here is the scripture that tells us so...
Matthew 22:30
"For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven."
However, you will have perfect love for her and she will have perfect love for you.
---Steve on 1/14/11

Mima and Bruce, I completely agree with both of you. And of course I do not agree with 1Cliff. He is still confused with the two bodies.
As to the question, I too believe you will not know her as your wife in heaven. But you will know her. The relationship we have on earth is one of self satisfying. One for the other. In heaven we will only be satisfying the Lord. That is all we will want to do. We will all love each other in heaven. Something hardly possible in life. We will have freedom, but no impulse to sin, for there will be no sin, so no pride for a wife, no need for sex, I don't think anyone will be complaining like here in life. In heaven even the will, will not be free, the will will be a slave to the Lord.
---Mark_V. on 1/14/11

And what happens if he remarries and becomes "one flesh" with another woman. Will they both be his "wife" in Heaven?

\\Is it true that my wife will not know me as her husband when I get to heaven?\\

Where did you get that idea?

St. Paul says in 1 Cor 13, "Then I shall know as even know I am known."
---Cluny on 1/14/11

Mary, Well that's what they(fundamentalists) say ,,here's the problem, You say you get a new body in heaven, then the resurrection where you pick up another body,(the old one made over)now you're stuck with two bodies???
---1st_cliff on 1/14/11

She will know you ok,have no concern about it.I think Jesus was pointing out that future marriages once in heaven and thereby more children born from such marriages would not occur, but since He made you both to be one-flesh on earth she can hardly be a stranger..there is more to this concept than we understand, but we serve a good all works out well,be assured.
---richard on 1/14/11

Hi 1st Cliff: we'll have new bodies in Heaven, we won't be "intangible wisps of air" :)
---Mary on 1/13/11

Send a Free Valentine's Day Ecard

This kind of subject always baffles me,
We recognize each other by our face mainly, the face as with all body parts, decomposes quickly in the grave. How can one recognize an intangible wisp of air???
---1st_cliff on 1/13/11

Consider this. If, as a widdower, I remarried and my second wife died before me too. Which one would be my wife when I got to heaven?

Matthew 22:30, "For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."
---Bruce5656 on 1/12/11

I believe we will know our loved ones in Heaven. The relationship there will be far better, richer, more real than any we have here on earth. There will be no married relationships but it will be better than anything we can think of with our human minds. Trust God to know what He's doing when it comes to relationships. He created us & He loves us more than we love ourselves. Any one who makes it to Heaven will not be disappointed in what they find there. Your wife will know you & love you in Heaven. NO WORRIES :-}
---Reba on 1/12/11

Correct. She will know you, but you will not be married according to scriptures.

I am soooo very sorry. I doubt it's true that she won't know you as her husband but I'm afraid I don't know the answer. I am just so deeply sorry about your wife. May God comfort and bless your heart.
---Mary on 1/12/11

Yes you'll know your wife in heaven. Scripture says we will sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and talk with them. Implying of course that we will know them.
While you will know your wife your relationship with her will be totally different than the one you have here on earth as there is no marriage or giving in marriage in heaven.
---mima on 1/12/11

If that breaks your heart down here understand it won't there. I think she will know that you were married, but God's peace fills everything within his presence.

Trust in the Lord, he is faithful and will wipe away every tear.
