Gives Money To T.D. Jakes
For years, my older sister has been sending money to T.D. Jakes, instead of paying her bills. My sister has lost her home and her job. She continues to send T.D. Jakes money from her unemployment check. How would you deal with this situation?
Moderator - Find out exactly which scriptures that he is using to motivate her to send in her money. Then show her the more complete scriptures. Most Word of Faith folks sincerely want to please God and will look at the scriptures especially if you insist.

many chdn of God have erred in that regard. They think God can be 'bought' so that he blesses you. The blessing is not in the money you give. The blessing is in you as a child of God. Realise that giving money to anyone without revelation does not move or grieve God, it grieves the giver. the ordination of giving in the bible is two-fold, offering & tithing . when you find yourseld starving or become destitute because you have given realise God is not destitute & desperate for your money! He ownns money. TD Jakes does not even know that you are giving him money & remain destitute!! Work and be blessed then tithe or give targeted offerings & this is a one off thing not always or regularly like tithe.Shalom.

I don't know if this will help, but have your sister read the underlined portion of this passage.
(1 Timothy 6:4-6)
They are conceited and understand nothing.
They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

Robyn, please GOOGLE "PIMPS IN THE PULPIT".
I ask you to do this because it seems you give your approval and make excuses for "WOLVES IN SHEEPS CLOTHING" those who deceive and con people out of their money.
By giving them the promise they will receive a multiple harvest in return if they send their money.
When people don't receive their supposed harvest, they are told it is because of their lack of faith, or it is not their season, so they need to keep sending money until their season comes.

Rob: This lady is very gullible and needs to be taught the Word of God. Who's to blame here? If you know someone is a pimp,,,etc,, Yes I would warn others and hold on tightly to my purse. I would avoid this person and have nothing to do with them. If she is not paying her bills, she is asking for trouble. Why blame Jakes?

I have sympathy for you and your sister. She probably has never known how to handle her finances and is giving money to a ministry where she is receiving hope and encouragement.
In defense of T.D. Jakes, he was a pastor of small churches in West Virginia with little pay for many years, driving an old beatup car, sometimes not getting paid enough to pay the electric and having it shut off. He never gave up serving the Lord. Writing his first book gave him wealth. I've read some of his books and they are saying we have to live pure lives and put God first. No mention of giving him money at all!

Robyn, if there was a person who is known to be a "PIMP" and you knew they were roaming around deceiving and preying on people, what would you do?
Would you give them your approval, support, and remain silent, or would you warn others?

Cluny, Yes, but do not diss this, my words: Give some: "Hear the word of Yhwh, Give, and it will be given to you, good measure pressed down, and shaken together and running over, will men give into your pocket. For with the same measure that you all deal withal, it will be measured to you again. The well-offs give a lot: Command the rich that they be ready to give, willing to share: laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come. The poor give none: For I desire mercy, and not sacrifice: and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. And a bruised reed he will not break." Lk.6:38+ I Tm.18,19+ Ho.6:6+ Mt.12:20.

TD Jakes did not make your sister give money to his ministry. He is not the blame. ---Robyn on 2/24/11
She was tricked in simple faith...he's got problems $$$$ can't fix.
2 Peter 2:3
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their DAMNATION slumbereth not.
Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

TD Jakes did not make your sister give money to his ministry. He is not the blame. TD Jakes is a very rich man. With or without your sisters money. Your sisters situation is her responsibility. Some people are gullible and things happen to them. Bad things unfortunately. It is unfortunate she lost her job and home. Some people continue to do the same old things and get the same old results. Eventually she may receive better teaching and learn how to handle her finances better. But I do hope and pray TD Jakes and these other fatcat ministers are using the money they receive, correctly. If not-God have mercy on their souls.God bless her heart.

"Here you all, says the Lord, if you have a lot, give a lot, if you have a little, give a little, and if you have none, then give none."
Oh yea well who is it that determines what is a little and a lot?
More Eloyism falsehood issued. I guess Eloy is one of those with just a little to give. This idea doesn't come from the Scriptures.

This story is very sad. But on a higher note I believe your sister will be judged according to her knowledge and in this particular matter her knowledge is awry.

So, Your sister's life would've & will remain as it is now, no matter if she would've been sowing into the ministry of T.D.Jakes, the ministry of a parish church or any place else for that matter, and she will continue to feel as those who would say "I've been sowing where it belongs" until she has had her own encounter with the Lord's Holy Spirit for the proper guidance to Understand sowing !!!

Contact T.D.Jakes and explain the situation to him. If he is godly, he will not accept any further monies from the poor, and he will contact your sister and tell her not to send any more money but that God wants her to pay her obligatory bills, and as for him receiving monies he will still receive monies from multitudes of peoples whom should have first paid their necessary bills: "Here you all, says the Lord, if you have a lot, give a lot, if you have a little, give a little, and if you have none, then give none."

rob, is this the only reason your sister can't meet her financial obligations? could she already have a hard time meeting any obligation and giving to WOF is a desperate attempt to dig herself out of that pit?

John.usa, What has Van Impe done that would make you say that? I have watched him for years and I have never heard him ask for money or say anything wrong..I believe this man knows just what he is talking about.

It seems like they ALL tv - radio ministers want people to give support to their ivory towers, lux - vehickles including planes boats etc, so you can suffer & do without.

Better Jakes than Van Impe.

Good point, Moderator.
Though I've noted that most WOF/Seed Faith preachers say that THEIR wallets are the field you're supposed to sow your dollars into.
I've been sowing mine to my parish church, where it belongs.
