when one feels that God is far away-it is at this point that we are most probably in our brokenness and seeking God most.
positive attitude will lead us to seek more of God

Juda Smith has a great message on this from John 6 (I think). Where the disciples are in the boat and Jesus walks on water. When the storm comes stay in the boat. Keep reading, keep seeking, keep doing the last thing that he told you to do.

Often in the life of the Believer, he/she may feel that God is distant. Here is the promise of the Eternal Father to you: "I will never leave you, I will never forsake you". Deut. 31:6 The promise of God is more real than our words, our thoughts and our feelings. Know this, God is with you now and He has never left you for a nanosecond. (Isaiah 54:10)

Be patient and know that you Eternal Father is holding you in His arms with no less care than He has ever done.

Sin is the only thing that can separate us from God. Bite the bullet - go into a closet or outside somewhere quiet and just get it out. Confess your sins, ask for forgiveness. Work on building your faith. In my walk over the years I've found that if I don't study his Word then I can even lose the ability to comprehend it. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Go to a Christian Bookstore and getting a Bible-Study workbook on a topic that interests you to get you started again. Or there are Bible-Study programs here on this website and other websites that are free. Be encouraged! Use this as an opportunity to get excited about what God is doing! He is coming back very soon - the signs are all around us.

You keep the faith. This is a test of your faith and faithfulness to God.

I suggest you read the Book of Job and Psalms.

Other than that hold on to Jesus no matter what. He says he will never forsake you and that is true. He will sustain you through all things.

Also, you may be depressed and David also struggled with this so read the Psalms.

And there is no such thing as a separate baptism of the Holy Spirit. All true believer's are indwelt with the Holy Spirit. You cannot belong to Christ unless you have the Holy Spirit.

Stay in reality and be grounded in Christ and not in your own feelings which fluctuate depending on your circumstances.

Kezzy, I've been walking with the Lord for 27 years and not everytime I worship or pray do I feel His Presence on me, but I know by faith that I have the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Maybe you need the Baptism of the Holy Spirit because I can feel his promptings and leadings when He leads and guides me into all truth.

I read the Psalms & pray. David struggled alot & his prayers help me put the words I need to my prayers sometimes. Psalms 13 & 51 are 2 great examples of that. God is always there. It's the people that move away from Him.

We don't go by feelings, Kezzy.

We go by faith.

You must keep the faith. Jesus said i will never leave you or forsake you.

Worship Him, Praise Him and Read His Word. You may have to do this all by faith meaning you don't feel like doing these things, but you do them because you know it will draw you closer to the Lord (again, by faith). Keep pressing into Him....ask Him, "Lord, is there any unconfessed sin in my life that would keep you from fellowshipping with me?" Isaiah says, "your sins have separated you from me." Unrepentent sin cuts of fellowship with God. Our relationship remains the same, we're still his kid, but our fellowship is hindred if unconfessed sin is in our life.

"Draw close to God, & He will draw close to you." James 4:8

"What do you do when you feel like God is far away?"
I follow instructions, I seek the Lord, hoping, as in earnestly expecting, that by reaching for Him I will find Him, knowing that He is not far from any of us.
Father reassures all of us "That He is a God that is both near and far, that no matter where we are, He sees us. That He fills heaven and earth. Ref. Act 17:27> Jer. 23:24
As far as the Father's Spirit and presence is concerned the Psalmist asked "Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?" the question was asked and answered in three verses " Psalms 139:8-11 I keep that i mind.

You ask an important question. And in order to find an answer to it let's exam this statement, 1st. John 5:8,
" And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one"
If you're a saved person the Holy Spirit is within you. And since the blood witnesses to the spirit you can arouse that spirit that is within you by praising and contemplating about the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you do so the Spirit will manifest its self in some manner to you bringing you great joy.
