you can read (or listen) all you want to but if you do not apply what you read (or listen to), you will never hear.

God's Word is neither elitist nor depends on $$$$.

Amen not just the hearers of the WORD but the DOERS

which is why those who are BLESSED believe and cannot SEE ...Christ said those who look for signs will be deceived ...Christ is the WORD and VOICE of The Father in Heaven

the DECEIVED believe they physically "hear" Gods Voice

those who have TRUTH understand The Father in Heaven speaks to us through Christ who is the WORD

Holy Scripture is the voice of the Elohim no man has ever heard the physical voice of The Father in Heaven

donna 66, no sister it wasn,t you I was replying too,I have never taken issue in years with any blog replys you have posted. I dont care to mention names, but theres one on this blog who apparently believes thers some kind of separation between the word, and the spirit, that they dont work together to convist sinners, but its not you,all your blogs seem well based in scripture, and as you say our revelation is personal for each one of us,because of our issues in life and lessons being taught at any given moment in those lives.but its the word, from the spirit that convicts us all.

Elder makes a very IMPORTANT point:// The "voice" of God will always be backed by the Word of God. He will never go outside of what He has already written
---Elder on 5/2/11
And I'd like to re-emphasize it! The more you know the Bible, the better your discerning of God's voice.
Are you being told to leave your husband for a more "spiritual" man? That's NOT God. The Bible says God hates divorce.
Are you being told to share the gospel with a friend who makes you feel inadequate? Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Hbr 13:6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
---Donna66 on 5/4/11

I commented before, but wished to add tha I believe an important part of paryer is to spend time "listening" to God, to be still and know that He is God. It's not just a time to bring Him my shopping list, but to seek Him and His will, and I cannot hear Him clearly, in general, if I don't spend enough time with Him in prayer.
---Christina on 5/4/11

Conversations with God should be cherished/coveted as being our own personal blessings. If we are a good student/listener, it is 'virtually' impossible for us to make a bad decision (poor judgement is still possible).

We should never be 'convenient' to other people (be "convenient" to God only) except personal friends/family and employers (when observing/practicing the faith, we should not give ANYONE special treatment, James 2:1, 2:9).

A good student of God can only make a 'mistake'. They will never be a hypocrite and do what they are not yet convinced should be done (because they have a 'PERSONAL faith'/God's voice)....

Romans 14:23
"whatever does not proceed from faith is sin".
---more_excellent_way on 5/4/11

With this, I agree: God's communication to you will be PERSONAL and PRIVATE. It is not relevant to anyone else (do not SHARE what He says to you).

I can't go so far as to say He absolutely never will speak in an audible voice, for surely He can do this if He pleases.I will say this would be extremely rare, as His message is to your spirit primarily. But the more important thing is WHAT He says to us, rather than how we perceive it.

I personally doubt He tells us what socks to wear or which melon to buy at the store, as some people will tell you. He has trusted us to decide even complex and weighty matters. We are not children.
---Donna66 on 5/3/11

I believe God speaks to us all the time. the more I seek Him, the more I hear Him. He speaks and leads me in the little things in life as well as the bigger things. that doesn't mean I always hear Him as I should, but i desire to hear Him more, When I KNOW I've heard from God, I am further encouraged in my walk with Him. I was recently listening to a prophetic worship tape, and was moved by it, realizing how He is calling to us, can we (will we) hear His voice, he loves us so, we are His bride, He led me to the song of (all) songs...which is an answer to recent prayers of mine that I would know His love more fully, and would then be able to love more fully
---Christina on 5/2/11

The "voice" of God will always be backed by the Word of God. He will never go outside of what He has already written.
---Elder on 5/2/11

Let's finally put to rest any notion that God's voice makes a SOUND (there is no NOISE). Hopefully, it will soon become common knowledge to all believers that it is spiritually 'understood', not physical soundwaves that enter the ear.

It is only the insane and prideful (VAINLY prideful, puffed up) who will claim to hear "sounds" of God. They will claim to be 'prophets' (prophets no longer exist) and spiritual TEACHERS (let GOD be your ONLY spiritual teacher, 'grasshopper').

God's communication to you will be PERSONAL and PRIVATE. It is not relevant to anyone else (do not SHARE what He says to you).

Yes, I know.
But while you are discerning right and wrong. Know that.
Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Why do you think it called the tree of knowledge of good and evil?
I am not disagreeing with you, but agreeing.

This is why he said:
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father, neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

It must come from God.
To be believed!

you can read (or listen) all you want to but if you do not apply what you read (or listen to), you will never hear.

otherwise, everyone illiterate or unable to own a Bible are or attend a building called a church precluded from the Truth and their ability to apply God's Word.

The "word" that God sent is "LIVING" (His "WORD" became FLESH, not TEXT). It's alive and SHOULD BE "active" in our lives (only Jesus can be active, the bible can't). The "word" will teach our mind/conscience how to discern properly between all that's good and all that is not (God wants us to learn to PROPERLY use the knowledge wrongly chosen in Eden). He wants us to have a discerning "sword" (the "sword" of discernment that a Godly person SHOULD HAVE)....

Ephesians 6:17 "sword OF THE SPIRIT".

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is LIVING and active".

JESUS is "THE WORD" that revealed GOD IN ENTIRETY/completion to humanity.

Some things are really better left unsay, believe me!
It's only because they must come from God.
It's not something you can get from a book.
This is so very true!
It's not from a book!

Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Christ himself said
It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Not me but The Father.
Joh 12:49

The words that are in the bible are from God not Christ.
Christ said God is a spirit!
He also told you Luk 24:39!
Like I said, some things must come from God.
---TheSeg on 5/1/11

God never tells ANYONE to do anything against His 10 commandements.Never to kill, steal, lie ,blaspheme or any of the other commandments.Satan is speaking to these people or they are just plain insane.Right now God is speaking through storms, earthquakes etc.Like you people straighten up your act NOW!-IMHO
---shirley on 5/1/11

Psychotic individuals often complain of voices telling them to do things. About half the time they think it is "god" speaking. But some criminals who know that this may be a sign of mental illness claim the same thing. However, they usually lack skill at impersonating the mentally ill.

Some Christians say God is "speaking" to them but don't mean in an audible voice. (I plead guilty) Instead, an impression is so strong, it is like a voice. They have no doubt God is leading. If well versed in the Bible they should be able to discern His voice from the enemy.

I'm skeptical of those who claim God "speaks" to them on a daily basis. The same with those who claim to hear an actual voice.

Mark V, Thanks for your reply,we're on the same page here.
The problem I see here is quite often ,lately some person murders his/her kids kids saying "God told me to"
The scripture is plain enough for "all" our understanding! We don't need special touting!
God spoke out loud (like thunder) to the Israelites, when in the last 1,900 years has he done so?

tom2-- (I think you were posting to me. There are 2 "Donnas" If you don't say Donna66, I have to scan the whole blog to see which of us you mean)
Anyhow, a lot of God's guidance catches me off guard. I pray to be led and recognize His leading...and then, something like this opportunity to serve, pops up unexpectedly and I just find myself saying "yes". I think the Lord knows that if I took much time to think, I would quite likely be hindered by questions and doubts.
Being a cancer survivor and no longer young, this has become a favorite verse of mine.
Ecc 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might, for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
---Donna66 on 5/1/11

Anyone can hear The Father in Heavens voice cleary all one must do is READ Holy Scripture - THAT is His voice

anyone who believes they literally "hear" a voice and encourage others to believe THEM over Holy Scripture are liars and are simply looking for signs
---Rhonda on 5/1/11

Mark V, Jesus was not talking "literal" sheep,so neither was He intimating "audible" "hear my voice"
The "sheep" metaphor is key to understanding the context!
Unless you're wearing a "blue tooth", hearing voices is not normal!

1 Cliff, I also feel as you. On many occasions when some say that God spoke to them in the toilet, or actually pushed them to the ground. Most of those come from the Word of Faith Movement. What I meant was that God spoke to my conscience, and I responded for something good resulted out of that action.
I don't claim I clearly heard the voice of God, for I believe the God speaks to us through His Word to our conscience. When Jesus said, that His sheep hear His voice, He meant spiritual voice, not an actual sound. So to say an actual voice from God, it would be really impossible for anyone to confirm it came from God, Why it could be the voice of the enemy for all we know. We have to be careful and I didn't explain my answer correctly.
---Mark_V. on 5/1/11

so prey tell me why jesus said that not one word would pass away?you are definitely wrong in your opinion, and thats is mine,to make a statement that the gospel, the message, written down ,inspired by God is useless is BLASPHEMY. yOU DO REALIZE there are many scriptures where God himself instructed the writer? revelation, and many old testament writing,God instructed personally noah, abraham, david, solomon, instuction in building the ark, etc.YOU COULDN,T BE MORE WRONG IDF A ROCK FELL FROM THE SKY AND CRACKED YOU ON THE HEAD.

mo_excellent //No bible hung on the cross, only JESUS. The bible doesn't save anyone, JESUS does.//

Agreed. The Word preceded the words and will be beyond the words.

Rom 11:8 as it is written, "God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day."

Those that harden their hearts or those who put the Bible above the Word, please reconsider.

Allie123, 'Audible' words are not required to hear. Keep praying, applying God's love (help homeless, visit elderly/sick, etc...). Spiritual QTips are always at work in our lives if you are truly seeking and your life is not working contrary to the Word.

1 Cliff, if you hear God's voice it is because you are born of God. As Jesus said, My sheep hear My voice and they follow Me.
The reason you believe now that you will get medical help is because you have no faith in His Word. The Spirit speaks to our conscience and we feel to answer correctly though many times we refuse to answer.
---Mark_V. on 4/30/11

Allie123-- You are not disconnected from God. Don't worry if you don't "feel" the Spirit or "hear" anything from God. We walk by FAITH...not by sight or hearing or feeling.
Keep following His Word in the Bible and praising Him.
And be patient. He knows how to reach you if He has something specific He wants you to know.

Hunches, urges, voices, mental images etc.. are all the tools of the clairvoyant!Spooky table rattlings and things that go bump in the night are not the way God instructs Christians.

---1st_cliff on 4/30/11

No, Tom, you don't realize what you (and every believer) are saying when you think of scripture as the "living word of God", it is actually an insult/blasphemy to Jesus.

JESUS ONLY suffered the crown of thorns, nails, spear, and mockery.

The water and blood flowed from JESUS ONLY.

No bible hung on the cross, only JESUS. The bible doesn't save anyone, JESUS does.

Every believer is insulting Jesus by glorifying the bible.

The meaning of "PRAY" has been lost in the lies of man and satan. We each should have 'CONVERSATIONS with God', not TALK AT God. It is not an audible voice, but one you will hear/know/understand in your mind/conscience throughout your daily lives (it does not come all at once, but only as you are ready). It might take days, weeks, or even months until you are ready to truly understand (lest you not learn PATIENCE in waiting on The Lord).

God's holy spirit is not a drug, there is nothing to "FEEL". He will not "MOVE" you. Your spirit must be compatible with God's spirit in order for learning to take place. We can only be truly transformed by thinking differently (Romans 12:2).

Allie . . . some possibly very helpful people may have viewed this blog and moved on before you posted your question. I suggest you start your own blog with your question.

I will offer > we can get to feeling not connected with God, because we have allowed our attention to go where it does not belong.

Also, God may not speak to us about something because He's got it covered and you will see what's happening and know what to do in due time (c:

And *deeper than words*, His communication is in how He rules us in His peace > "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you are called in one body, and be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)

He told me, all sin will be forgiven!
No exceptions!

I said great that's what everyone is waiting to hear.
Then I said great I'll tell them!

I found it so sad when he said they won't believe you.
I said, I can explain it!

Again he said they won't believe you.
Its been years now.

And you dont believe it, do you?
Looking forward toward judgment!

The no exceptions, you can't understand it right.
Sad how you can understand, asking him to forgive you.
But, somehow you can't understand the forgiveness of sin.
It's like you think you did or have to do something for it?

And you stand there and say, you have to believe.
And you dont believe it, do you?
---TheSeg on 5/1/11

donna,in most believers lives revelation does come later, why? usually because the flesh is getting in the way? or is God waiting for us to get it?I know one thing, without my favorite verses to rely on I would be a mess, and they are not just text,to be read, they are active, life altering, spiritual activating, demon fighting, strength and faith building, words.

(Isaiah 59:2)
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

If you are separated from God, he does not hear your prayers, and you will not hear him.
When was the last time you got on your knees before the Lord, and confessed your sins?

If sin separates us from God, and God promises to forgive our sins(1John 1:9), confession of sin is the way to remove that which separates us from God.
And Daily confession of sin will keep you in Gods light.

I had never heard God audibly speak. But I have many times felt an urge to do something in a certain way or manner. I do try to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. I do this by going slowly sometimes by doing nothing and just setting and meditating. I often sense a correction after I have said something and when I do I realize I have spoken too quick.

He is speaking to me about volunteering at a local free homeless health clinic. They say they can use me. As often happens, I found myself volunteering (and wondering "why am I doing this?") without feeling much enthusiasm. It's as if the Lord opens my mouth and makes the words come out.

But the enthusiasm usually comes later! The blessings, too!
I guess the Lord knows that if it was up to ME, and what sounds appealing to ME, I'd probably never offer.

Many people believe that they can HEAR by READING (does this seem logical?),....they don't differentiate/distinguish between "VOICE" and TEXT.

John 10:27 "MY sheep HEAR my VOICE".

You cannot read a voice (whether it's 2000 years old and spoken to other people or not).

Some people need spiritual EYES TO SEE in order to know the difference between "text" and what can be heard (there is no verse that forces us to use common sense).

James L, I can relate to what you said about your experience. The same has happened to me. One day I was taking my daughter to work in the early morning, and I felt the Spirit telling me to take her earliar to work. When we passed an apartment duelplex the house was on fire. My daughter and I ran to the house and knock on the door and people got out. When we got there a man had arrived before we did, and as we got to the burning house that man jumped out of the burning house with a little kid in his arms who was burned. Flames followed him out the window, while my daughter watered them down with a hose I continued to slam on the door for the others to get out. We got there in time. A few minutes later and the others would have died.

I was driving today, and saw ambulances, police and fire trucks all getting on the inerstate I was on. God said to me that He wanted me to pray for someone in a wreck. I started praying, not seeing a wreck yet. God said to me "the effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much"

I continued praying. Then I saw one side of the interstate was closed, and traffic being diverted. As I passed, there was a pickup rolled over, and someone laying on the ground with about 6 EMTs attending. I kept praying for about 15 minutes.

I have not checked the news yet to see what exactly had happened.
