John the Baptist was the voice of ONE in the wilderness preaching REPENT, REPENT, REPENT. Are you that voice of ONE and what are you saying to people? How are you approaching them with the Love of Jesus?

All too often those that need to repent are far too blind to see that they have a problem. So it is a waste of time telling them to repent. I would prefer to tell them about what Christ has done in my life and what is truly means for Him to be our savior.

It is the Spirit that gives conviction of sin and that is all too often after Christ has come into the believers life.

In some churches the focus is almost totally upon sin but never on the abundant life found only in Christ.

John 10:10b I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

The Mennonites said prove it and so I begin to witness to him about what the Bible says about calling on the name of the Lord. I asked him would he pray with me, he said I will. When we finished I asked him now that you've complied with what the Bible says do you are either saved right now and forever or God is a liar. Which is it? He looked at me and began to smile and said you proved it to me.

Jed, I agree with what you said. In response to Mima objecting to your testimony, I believe he is wrong and here is why. It is not up to him to say who should be saved. It is always up to God. For only the elect will be saved. If you are in a store and want to prove to someone that you can win a soul, and you suddenly pick someone, and he supposes that that person will receive faith to believe he is wrong. The Holy Spirit brings life to an individual. And leads them to the gospel truth, and he will repent, and believe by faith, and will confess Christ as his Lord, and by faith he accepts his forgivness. No other way into heaven, he has to be born of the Spirit.

Once in a grocery store a person approached me and said, I understand you're a witness for the Lord exactly how do you do this? I turned and took the elbow of the first lady passing me, who was about 35 years old. And I said to her, Lady are you sure that you will go to heaven when you die? She look strangely at me and said no I am not. Whereupon I witness to her about what the Bible says and then asked her if she want to pray she said yes, and we did pray whereupon I turned to the person who had originally asked me the question and said that's what I do. And that person said I did not believe a person could be that bold. Does this make me a hero? No!!! But it makes me a soulwinner!!!

\\Another name for this idea is friendship salvation. Will it work?\\

It did for the first 300 years. Why not now?

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Mima, I did not say that you should tell people to look at your life. I have never told anyone to look at my life either. We all will fall hopelessly short in comparrison to what God calls us to be. I am simply saying that people should be able to notice a difference between you and the world, in your lifestyle, business practices, speech, dress, attitude, social activites, etc. Jesus said "In the same way let your light shine in front of people. Then they will see the good that you do and praise your Father in heaven." One thing is for sure, you'll never win the lost by acting like you're lost.

Jed wrote,"The best way to reach the lost is by being a godly example, a relfection of Christ." Another name for this idea is friendship salvation. Will it work? Perhaps but it will be very very slow. I have never told any person to look at my life. The reason being I know I'm no damn good but praise the Lord I know I am saved. I find much comfort in the assurance that God has given me of my salvation.

"nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock." (1 Peter 5:3) God is trusting us with each person, to love each and every person.
So . . . we are being trusted!!! (c:

"rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:4) How we are can spread to make others the same way > our cup runs over > see how this can work along with what 1 Peter 3:1-3 says > "without a word" (c: your good example can win any wrong person, how God makes this work.

Repentance is a lifestyle, not simply a once-for-all event.

It's a constant course correction.

Because condemnation comes before repentance(condemnation from others or from ourselfs) those who feel in constant need of repentance should read again Romans 8:1," There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

"what are you saying to people?" I pray it will be what the Lord leads
Concerning John the Baptist, and the spirit of Elijah
Malachi 4:5-6
"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." Also Luke 1:17( What we too hope to do.
Both had their wilderness experiences themselves, as we may. The wilderness is many things, can be (for us) a time of preparation, sometimes needed before one is used, as Moses...cont

The best way to reach the lost is by being a godly example, a relfection of Christ. The reason so many people reject God today is because of people who call themselves Christians but act worse than the world. It would be better if they said nothing if they are going to live that way because they are causing people to fall and they will be responsible. Repentence is not a one-time choice, you have to check yourself daily to make sure you are in line with God's word. And when you slip-up, confess your sins and tell people that you were wrong and tell them about God's grace. That will really reach people.

mima said: "There is no salvation in repentance(a change of mind) repentance is a condition that precedes(comes before) salvation."

Repentance is at the very core of salvation! If we are not constantly turning away from sin and turning toward God, then walking down the aisle to repent once is not going to make it. We are called to theosize--that is, to become more like Christ every day, and that only comes in the daily repentences of our walk with Christ.

I'm not the only one but I am one. No greater love can be shown than helping someone understand they can be saved.
My approach is usually in the form of a question. Are you sure of your salvation? Do you know for certain that you're going to heaven when you die.
---mima on 8/25/11

There is no salvation in repentance(a change of mind) repentance is a condition that precedes(comes before) salvation.
---mima on 8/25/11

cluny...If you being an unbeliever came to saving faith in repented. You are a new creation. the old is gone, behold all things are become new. you have changed your way of thinking and actions.
You have turned from your wicked ways. There is no other need for repentance.
Otherwise, can you go from not believing in Christ, to believing in Him and decide to go back to not believing in Him.
