lidia, I pray for your healing. I can't imagine what you are going thru. I too have been tried by the fire and I've been tested but God is faithful. even tho we can't see God, I can feel His presentence in my life. it is sort of like the poem "footprints". sometimes our grief is so prominent we think God isn't there but He is there.

Hello,Shira4368 yes my sister It's so TRUE, being saved nothing to do with being sick. Pray Shira, you feeling much better..

Let me give respect to sis.Catherine in say what right for her may not be right for someone else, she correct in her statement.

Sisters I have days I am ok , then day into all night I feel horrible, last night no sleep all night, but
praise Him anyhow, NO SENSE throw in the towel..smiles
Test and trials come on every hand but " He is there all of the time!"

Catherine, our bodies are subject to all kinds of illnesses because our bodies are corrupt. when I was 9 my appendix ruptured and I spent a month in the hospital. dr was treating me for an infection in my stomach. the dr also told my mom never to give us castor oil. every year before that, we had to take castor oil castoria before school started. had nothing to do with being a sinner. it happened before I got saved. after I was saved, Ive had 6 surgeries and 2 was life threatning. 3 yrs ago I got a bacteria in my stomach, lung and bladder. the one in my lung will not ever go away. I still take anti biotics 3 times a week to keep it under control. all this is a result of our bodies being corrupt.
---shira4368 on 9/11/13

I was young, 55.
---catherine on 9/10/13

Catherine, you were probably much younger and therefore, didn't need the dr. I've been saved a long time and until 3 yrs ago I never went to the dr. now, I take a boat load of pills just to keep me alive. being sick has nothing to do with being saved.
---shira4368 on 9/10/13

I can only vouch for myself. I use to run to the doctors before I was saved over every little ache and pain. I don't anymore! I myself have learned to bear up under, is God's will for me. However, when God tells me to go ahead and make the appointment then and only then do I. I cannot say anymore about it, because it really is your own business. I will say one more thing, what may be right for me would be wrong for you and what is right for you may be wrong for me.

Colossians 4:14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.

2 Timothy 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

Luke 5:31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
---francis on 5/19/13

Willie, evidently you have never experienced pain. Before my surgery for my back, pain meds were very necessary. I always thank God for them.
---shira4368 on 5/19/13

And these verses apply to taking prescribed medicines just how, willie c?

How do you know that pain killers and antidepressants are not God's grace for those who need them?

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/19/13

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." (in 2 Corinthians 12:9)

"'Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'" (Matthew 11:29)

I just posted how my dr's sister took ambien and showed up at her mom's home and didn't know where she was. I'm not saying it is good for anyone but it isn't a narcotic.
---shira4368 on 5/17/13

Ambien is not a narcotic, but it can have addictive qualities, if abused, or used for a very long time.
---Grandma on 5/17/13

shira, I don't know if Ambien is or is not a narcotic, but I have heard stories of it causing parasomnias such as sleep walking and sleep driving.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/17/13

nikki, ambien is not a narcotic.
---shira4368 on 5/17/13

my dr. told me his sister took an ambien and was driving her vehicle and didn't know where she was. wow, that is scarey.---shira4368 on 5/15/13

Ambien is a controlled substances. And it can be addictive if not taken correctly. The same for Narcotics
There are levels of controlled substances.
You are correct, the doctor can call in Ambien.

As for the driving, that is why now new patients can't get more than 5mg (6.25 for men).
FDA also making Doctors to wean down on older patients to these lower doses.
My sister was taking 10mg of Ambien, and I told her the dose of going down. She didn't believe me until today when her doctor broke the news to her and lowered the dose to 5mg.

\\Cluny, my doctors added fibromyalgia to my MCTD.\\

Excuse me, Nikki, but I don't know what MCTD means.

And did you know there is now a positive test for fibro?

nikki, ambien is not addictive like narcotics. your doctor can call in ambien but he can't call in a controlled substance. ocassionally I take ambien. my dr. told me his sister took an ambien and was driving her vehicle and didn't know where she was. wow, that is scarey.

GI know some people are reasonably afraid of strong narcotics, but God will lead you through if you trust Him.---Cluny

Narcotics are no different than any other controlled substances such as sleeping agents like Ambien or Anxiety meds as Xanax or Ativan.

It is called Responsibility!
We are fortunate in this Country to have such WONDERFUL meds available to us.
Jesus can and does help people off these meds. But, some must take them until the end of their life.
For those people, I shall say 'Thank God'.
I say this because I am part of the last group.

Cluny, my doctors added fibromyalgia to my MCTD.

I understand your Friend's pain. It is harder to deal with pain when others can't your suffering.
---Nikki on 5/15/13

I have a friend who suffers terribly from fibromyalgia. He used to takee 180 mg MSContin daily, a fentynyl patch every 3 days just to lower the pain to a tolerable level:3.5-4. He would have to take extra strength vicodin for breakthrogh pain.

A month ago he was released from a 4 month hospital stay (not related) during which he was told he would never walk again.

He's now back to walking with his walking stick and taking only an occasional vicodin for his FMS.

God works wonders. I know some people are reasonably afraid of strong narcotics, but God will lead you through if you trust Him.

Christ is risen!

Shira, I wasn't THINKING about you, or even committing about your post.

As everyone stated it isn't wrong.---Nikki on 5/15/13

You are INCLUDING in the everyone!

I don't need you to tell me about pain.
I have MCTD, I have been on Oxytocin as high as 60mg a day, and Chemo for pain management. I am down to Oxycodone 10mg a day, and off chemo.
I been Certified in Pallative care with PAIN MANAGEMENT.
I have to know how to convert Hydrocodone to Oxytocin to Morphine to Diluadid to Fentanly and many more for my patients. I had to verify Doctor's orders.
I don't know what you know about mediation, but lets not try to quiz each other. YOU MIGHT LOSE!
As you said, Prayer does work!

nikki, it is obvious you don't know anything about medicine. what I said was not wrong. when you are in pain and I mean to the 10th degree, you will welcome some relief. several times I would be dead had it not been for dr's and meds. God chose to use dr's to help people with disease and age related problems. I am thankful for that too.
---shira4368 on 5/15/13

As everyone stated it isn't wrong. Follow instructions.
People get addicted to painkillers and other medications because they take the med beyond the prescribe instructions.
Esp, those who take pain pills even though they are not in pain, but AFRAID the pain will return.

God does want us to use materials of the earth to help us.

Didn't you think it was odd when Jesus used mud to cure blindness? John 9:6
---Nikki on 5/15/13

BTW, I hope you got my point that PREscribe and PROscribe are opposites.

90% of the time, at least, God works through natural processes, including medicines. I have meds I must take, and every day I thank God for the provision He has made for me.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 5/15/13

NO, NO, No. It is NOT wrong to take doctor prescribed painkillers or antidepressants. Follow his/her advice, and call to report any adverse side effects.
---Grandma on 5/14/13

no it is not wrong. many people need them. like cluny says, take them only as prescribed. in 2010 I was on painkillers for about a year. I prayed dear God, please don't let me get addicted to these pills. I had surgery on my back and just think, I never had another one after my back surgery. I thank God everyday for answered prayer.
---shira4368 on 5/14/13

Yes, if the doctor proscribes them, you should follow his advice and not take them.

OTOH, if the doctor PREscribes them, you should follow his advice and take them as directed.

Obviously, if you have bad reactions to them, let the doctor know and then follow the new advice.

Christ is risen!
