There is a little bit more to it than that. But that could be a starting point.

Correction to previous post. The line that reads "I believe this applies to all The Father has given love Him," should read "I believe this applies to all The Father has given [to] love Him,"
P.S. Dan make your prayers and requests personally yours. Pray once, as concerning any given need or desire, according to HIs will, (His will is revealed in His word), specifically, directly, and without wavering. Believe you receive. Meditate on 1 John 5:14,15>James 1:2-8> Mat. 6:7,8>and mark 11:22-25 those verses has truly helped me to understand that.

joseph, I heard Bro. Craig Edwards preach on this subject. man, he drew stuff out of that one sentence and he did preach. look him up on the internet and listen to one of his messages. he preached on abortion and he knows every medical term that happens during an abortion. smartest preacher I ever heard. brilliant mind but lowly in heart.

" doesn't work again....Now what???" Dan, "[do] not grow weary of doing good, for in due season [you] will reap, if, [you] do not lose heart." Do not cave in, give up, and quit. "Consider [Jesus] who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary, and discouraged in your soul. Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward." I believe this applies to all The Father has given love Him, "I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." For "we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, those who are the called according to His purpose."

Dan, prayer is not so that we get things from God. Prayer is the ability believers to be able to have access to God. To give Him all our cares and when we pray for others. To worship Him and give Him glory. To talk to Him and speak about your life, even though He aleady knows everything about you. It is our dependence on Him that is important. you do not have to ask for guidance, He is already guiding your life. He already knows what you need and feel. You are not bringing any new information for Him that He doesn't already know. You can speak to Him in the name of Jesus Christ.

Everything is used for God's glory, this means that either it was not God's will or he taught you something that you have not yet realized. Try asking for God to keep your paths, and to keep you close to Him.

I am not sure I understand your question, we will do our best. Try talking to God as you would your best human friend, at night, when you wake-up, and during the day. Moses: Had to go before Pharaoh several times before the Israelites were let them go. Walk close to God.

Christians are not under the Old or the New Covenant and prayers are not restricted because we broke a covenant or behaved badly. Neither is God obligated to answer our requests because of good behavior.

Prayer can be confusing if you don't rightly divide covenant prayer from prayer under grace. God promises us spiritual not physical blessings in this dispensation: Phil 4:19

Prayer isn't to manipulate God for our own sake. It's a way to speak to him. We pray not because he answers every request but because he can do abundantly above all that we request (Eph 3:20).

Pray without ceasing.

Dan://God shows me a the way .. so .. and it doesn't work... // God instructions ALWAYS works. The confusion you are having is not recognizing who is answering you. The devil, and also your own mind can deceive you to think God has instructed you. This is why King David prayed against the sin of presumption Ps.19:13.

you have free choice...i notice many christians cherry pick the bible that is why 'it works'. you can use also use knowledge (as it says in proverbs). many christians teach that after you become a christian god will shower you with money which is wrong. the israelites also said 'we have to fight bravely'. don't develop a 'tithe mentality' like the pastors-god will shower you with money.

athiest, Christians live by faith and strive to do the will of God. You on the other hand are the one bored and you will never stop doing things over and over. You see, when one is born of the Spirit, we are happy and you won't ever be happy until you can experience Jesus un your life.

Most people pray "The Our Father", "Ask and you shall receive", "If two or more agree on anything" and find these methods don't work. We need to take a dispensational position and the conclusion it brings concerning how God works today and then apply that to the subject of prayer.

repeat and repeat sounds like ritual . you claim it did not work sweetie sometimes no answer is an answer. as for "now what" just be grateful for everything rejoice in just waking up be ready for what ever Jesus puts in your day and trust that all you could possibly ask he already knows and will answer . Your life guard so to speak "walks on water" so just keep stroking ... have your self a Jesus filled day

It reads like you are making the Lord's prayer into a fetish! If you really want to have the Lord lead you, just make yourself available to Him.
---wivv on 6/12/13

dan, you are wise to pray to God in Jesus name every morning for wisdom and health and guidance. it is wise to stay in a constant mode of prayer. don't let anyone tell you any different. the Lord's prayer is the most beautiful that is few words and many meanings.
---shira4368 on 6/11/13

It may not be God you're listening to. Did you stop to think of that?

Too many times we confuse our bright ideas with God's.

Christ is risen!
---Cluny on 6/11/13

Dan....It appears as if you are listening to your own spirit and not God's spirit. Try praying a sincere prayer and not just repeating the Lord's Prayer. Talk to the Lord and tell Him what you want to tell Him.

When I pray and submit to God and something doesn't work out, now I pray and submit to God for what He has me do next.

"And not only as we had hoped, but they first gave themselves to the Lord, and then to us by the will of God." (2 Corinthians 8:5)

There are people who try to use God to do certain things, but they do not first give themselves to Him all the way for all He pleases to do with them.

God is not a part-time employee!

Dan we cannot presume to expect things from God in our timing, our way. I know that doesn't provide any comfort, but understand your not the first or the last to seemingly be left to twist in the wind to wonder why God didn't move when we thought he ought to. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

If you give up now is it true that you trusted him with all your heart? (Proverbs 3:5-6) Obviously no. Were called to walk by faith, to believe God even when things look their worst.

There can be no testimony without the test. Hang in there Brother and wait upon the Lord. (Isaiah 40:31)
