\\The old hymns are very scriptural and I feel that God inspired certain people (e.g. the Wesley Brothers in the U.K.) to write them. \\

You think the Wesley's hymns are OLD?

Come to the Orthodox Church, where we sing very little that was composed after the 700's.

THAT is old. Not your modern stuff.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

John 6:54-56 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
John 1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
Exo 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye [are]: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you...
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

// Placing the words of God "IN CONTEXT" diminishes the 'universal meaning of God's speech/text.//

We do not place the words of God in context. The words of God can only be interpreted by reading the context of the message. It bring to light what God's real meaning is.
In Mark 7 Jesus upbraids the Pharisees soundly for their concept of Corban. If you do not read the context you will not know why Jesus was mad at them. You need to know the reason, and that only comes from reading the context and knowing the historical Culture context. Reading the context does not diminish your thinking, it increases your thinking. Agape
---Luke on 5/20/14

As of recent, whenever possible I at first try to avoid providing whatever verse that I am speaking of because it promotes NON-THINKING (meaning that it restricts the mind to TEXT....bad habit for "UNDERSTANDING"). Placing the words of God "IN CONTEXT" diminishes the 'universal meaning of God's speech/text.

It is a FACT that Jesus did not speak the words "LET MY BLOOD SAVE YOU" (there is a reason for NOT SPEAKING those words).......(what is that reason?...CONTEXT, I think not).
---faithforfaith on 5/19/14

Dear faithforhim,
I do believe as you say that people use words that confuse and you just confused the meaning of the word faith. You gave Luke 7:50. But did you read the context? Her faith was in Christ. Jesus forgave her sins, The object of her faith was Christ. When a person is saved, their sins are forgiven, and the result of that faith, is a godly behavior. It does not mean faith means godly behavior, but faith in Christ produces godly behavior.
James says in James 2:17,
"Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." Why? because it does not produce godly behavior. True faith in Jesus Christ always produces good works. Agape.
---Luke on 5/18/14

Satan has always encouraged the misuse of words in order to cause confusion and to promote misunderstanding. One of the words that causes confusion is the word "FAITH".

Luke 7:50 in the RSV is where Jesus says "Woman, your faith has saved you" (the ROOT MEANING is that her LIFESTYLE beliefs and behavior made her a Godly person).

"GRACE" (you cannot give someone 10 pounds of GRACE) means...GRACIOUSLY, not IMPERIALISTICALLY. Another misunderstanding is "THE FLESH" ("the flesh" is simply 'the MORTAL' ways/behaviors that must be overcome by DIVINE WAYS). The word "EVIL" simply is GOD'S way of referring to 'HUMAN WAYS' (understanding is necessary, TEXT/WORDS are misleading).
---faithforfaith on 5/17/14

//The SAVIOR Himself told someone that it was their 'lifestyle behavior' that had saved them (Jesus did not say "Let my blood save you", but that their demeanor had saved them).//

Dear faithforfaith,
Can you be kind enough to give us the passage teaches that the Savior said their lifestyle behavior saved them? I know of no passages that mentions that. But you sound like you know what you are talking about so it should be easy to provide the passages. I never knew that a good lifestyle behavior saved anyone. This might be a new gospel going around. Agape
---Luke on 5/17/14

Many people on earth live a SPIRIT OF PEACE/TRUTH, etc.

Jesus performed AND COMPLETED the "works of God", John 6:28 and ensured that the "eternity" of all who have the spirit of peace/truth etc. will continue beyond their existence here on earth (other people's "eternity" will end and they will return to "dust"), but ours will continue for ALL eternity. The "sick"/corrupt have need of a "physician" because they do not keep the PRECEPTS (principles of peace/truth) of the law. Even a TRUE aetheist is SAVED (unknowingly of course) by what Jesus did on the cross (a TRUE aetheist is just and has very Godly behavior).

Real "faith" is a TREASURE of CHARACTER.
---faithforfaith on 5/14/14

The root meaning of the word "FAITH" is...'LIFESTYLE BELIEFS' (character/behavior and attitude/demeanor.

The SAVIOR Himself told someone that it was their 'lifestyle behavior' that had saved them (Jesus did not say "Let my blood save you", but that their demeanor had saved them). They had already talked back to Jesus and told Him that even the "dogs" (referring to PETS, not 'scoundrel' humans) eat the crumbs that fall from the table they set to feed the people.

It is the way a person lives that determines their sanctification. It is not THE BOOK/TEXT, ritual, protocol, etc. that determines one's own sanctification (Luke the physician said that Jesus came for the "SICK" and corrupt).
---faithforfaith on 5/13/14

Shira, how I agree. The old hymns are very scriptural and I feel that God inspired certain people (e.g. the Wesley Brothers in the U.K.) to write them. They have real meaning.

I don't wish to be too negative about the others - 'some' of which I like but many I'm not too sure about - but I do feel that some of the very modern ones are far too repetitive so as to lose what meaning they had.

As for the rock ones, I don't believe they inspire worship, they just entertain. I don't believe that people grow in faith from those kind of 'worship' songs and feel that many would cease attending church if that music were to be abandoned for the older type.

Hello, my dear friend, that song is from the 1800' there was a mission for orphans in England, those songs, same ole hymn-songs, they sing late 70' Salvation Army ministries, been years. We had alot of love there.
I love that mission, they extend them selves visit the sick, any where God send them, we did not have even a piano unless, this other missionary would come.we were only about 6 people singing.Good, to hear from of Jesus!
---Elena9555 on 5/1/14

Yes Elena, I've heard those songs.i don't know worship music. I like to stick with ol stuff. Everyone it seems to like all these praise teams. It I personally don't like them. They are too repetitive. It the same lines over and over and over. churches are going modern and Jesus isn't modern. Some have rock music and I do not like rock music in church. Rock music belongs in the world, not. church.

Elana, I believe the older guy is bro Craig Edwards. He is the one who wrote that. I think one of his daughters is singing on his project. Bro Craig has got some of the best campmeeting preaching I've ever heard. His son also preaches. You can find him on utube too.

Dear Shira,
thank you for the giving the rest of the song. I found out that many while singing the song breakdown and cry. I have not gone to youtube yet but will after I come back home from a trip. Thank you, Agape

that song was written by Dr. Craig Edwards after his sister was killed by a drunk driver. you can hear messages from Bro. Craig online.
---shira4368 on 4/25/14

Luke I posted the whole song but it wasn't posted. Here goes....2nd verse. Now you're down in the valley looking up to the sky, you pray Lord you know what's best but I don't understand why, but if you could hear your loved one speaking now to you, they'd say you wouldn't be grieving if you only knew. Chorus. If you only knew I'm just going home, God answered your prayer my sickness is gone, things look so much better from heavens view, here the Son always shines, we're having a time if you only knew.

// " Have you prayed for a loved one struggling hard with pain. You ask The Lord for healing but healing never came. And in spite of all your efforts the good Lord called them home and it's hard to let go when you're trying to hold on.
Verse 2: Now you're down in the valley looking to the sky, you prayed Lord you know what's best when I can't understand why... And if you could hear your loved one speaking now to you, they would say you wouldn't be grieving if you only knew.//

Those were beautiful words, and would love to hear the rest of the song. God works in such a way sometimes we don't realize why. But only He knows the whole scope of what is right. If we knew why, we would be thanking Him always. Thanks for putting it down

Kathr, your post to Elena is so so uh how can I say this? It is wonderful and peaceful. Elena needs prayer from believers. We all need prayer but Elena is at the top of my list. Elena, you are special to me and you have such a humble spirit, everyone on CN loves you and appreciates you.
---shira4368 on 4/22/14

2nd pt.To Sis.Kathr4453, I wanted to say, yes,quite sometime,now..It was in my mind, ah, there always,reality..
Elena, may not get healed. You bring a valid point.I have even prayed for people, here( not any goodness) of myself, but God has blessed them with good health, few folks' financial blessings, cars, etc. However, yes, there were people in the bible who prayed for others, but, even were killed, maimed, hurt for Christ ministry, just being connected, like Stephan, Peter, etc..honestly, I had even few days ago dreamed my birth mom came and told me " you going be healed from cancer".
I will be praying bout all you said in this blogg, keep it. Thanks, love of Jesus! Elena9555

Elena, I am so very sorry for all your pain and suffering. And I will always keep you in prayer. You already do minister to others who suffer as well, because you have such a beautiful spirit and are not bitter or angry that you are sick, but his Joy is already seen through you.

Love you Elena!
---kathr4453 on 4/22/14

Hello,Sis.Kathr4453,thankyou, very much.Oh, not at all angry..because you may very well, be correct.I have been around alot of church's, we were taught..the way, but that's what I like about CNT.We must be carefull, really
got to admit, the last part you said..not just have faith".I think I got to get further into understanding, what exactly...I must get clear and yes, I have heard a minister preach about suffering, not so,much always being healed.I am going to be praying Lord help to get full understanding..
I am gratefull..I thought yes, all I needis faith..God knows, I am suffering sometimes horribly but, so are many others.thankyou! Love of Jesus!
---Elena9555 on 4/22/14

Elena9555, I pray my honesty will not hurt you but bless you. There is no magic in faith. Faith is not wishful thinking, or believing we get something because we have faith.

I think total surrender here is accepting everything, and surrendering to that everything, good and bad. I see in scripture also many suffer in order to encourage others who are suffering. And that we rejoice also in those sufferings. That is the first step to healing. And through that we come out in a place far beyond our own imagination that we wouldn't trade any suffering for.

My prayer too is for you to be lifted up to higher ground...(( Ephesians 3:14-21)) The Lord just gave me these verses to give to you.
---kathr4453 on 4/22/14

But is this the same as what some call Saving Faith? Or faith to do extra ordinary things they were called out to do? Even with this gift of Faith, those in Hebrews 11, the great chapter on faith did extraordinary things through obedience of faith. Noah just didn't decide one day to build an ark for no reason "called faith", but built an ark out of obedience of Believing what God had told him.. re: flood. Did Moses just decide on his own to deliver Israel? OR did he put his trust in God called faith to actually do the delivering, using Moses as that instrument of obedience?

So those who have thanked God for your gift of faith, please tell us what God called you to do, or rather trust in Him to do through you?

John 5:44 "How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?"
It would seem that "believing" with its accompanying faith are found by seeking. Thanks be to God that gave us the capacity to seek, to find and to keep.

John 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."

Luke 9:11 "And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing."

Matthew 7:8 "For every one that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."

I do thank God for the gift of faith. Then I thank God for every gift He has given me in my life. I thank Him for not only saving me, but for having mercy on me a sinner. I did not deserve salvation only death. We should thank Him in all things.
---Luke on 4/14/14

"Have you thanked God for the gift of faith?"
Most definitely. That and all things. Father, through His grace, has given me to hold an attitude of gratitude, knowing " that all things work together for good to them that [He has given] to love Him, to them who are the called according to His purpose."
---Josef on 4/12/14

The gift of Faith is worth thanking God for all the time. The good therapy that the faith in the Lord Jesus gives to a believer cannot be quantified.
