Rita H yes it is wonderful to be close. I don't walk anymore due to both knees and back are bad. Walking a long time to church really shows your commitment to the Lord. God Bless

We walk across the parking lot from the parsonage to the church. Easy commute.

I live 5 blocks from our church. When I moved here 6 months ago and we changed churches, I wanted to be really close, as my son attends school there too.
before we moved, we lived 5 blocks from church and 6 blocks from my son's school.

Darline, it's great to be close to church isn't it? My previous church was a 25 minutes walk from my house (probably 5 minutes by car but I don't drive). It was along a main road, very open with no shelter along the way so, if it rained heavily, I arrived soaking wet. No buses on Sundays on that route either.
It is such a blessing to live literally around the corner from a good church with lovely, encouraging members who welcome all who walk through their door. The couple living the furthest away are 12 miles away and I am the closest.

Rita H I live about a five minute drive from my church. A major reason I did change my Church membership because my Church before was in another town about 20 minutes away. No car parks we park our cars in our yard and in front of the house. Most people I know don't car share. Cluny I agree with you,now you have to guard your children closer than when I was growing up too. My friends and I walked about 1/2 mile to vacation Bible school. I walked a mile to school every day. We had a car from the time I was about five but we always lived in a small town and could walk if we needed to. The town is now the largest one in Central Texas, how times change. God Bless

I have never lived as close to a church as I have for the last two years. When I moved house I prayed about where I should go and felt lead to go to the closest. It's a large building with a small congregation but they all have big hearts and welcomed me so much I stayed. I am now very much part of them and will be an 'official' member very soon.
I have no excuse to stay away even in torrential rain. An umbrella sees that I get there. I don't drive for health reasons so closeness was really important and God took me there - I am sure of that. Several arrive on foot and some bring others with them in cars. There were 22 when I first went and now we are 31. God is working on us.

Our church is about a ten-minute drive. Yes, we do carpool with another person.

I walked both morning and night because we didn't have a car when I was growing up.
I frequently would not get home before 9:30 pm.
I wouldn't let my child do that today!
Glory to Jesus Christ!
