John 1:14 and Matt 27:51. John is the deepest description of man's need for salvation, while Luke is the single statement of the fact that man's separation from God has been ended.

Luke 23:45 also exists in Mark 15:38 and Matt 27:51. But somehow I like the Luke passage most.

One of my favorite verses is:

1John 2:1,2

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

I am not a regular visitor to this site, and I just found out that a couple of you are going through really tough physical issues. You are a true inspiration. I am praying that God will dramatically show you His mercy.

By far, my favorite passage is (Re 21:1-7) My all time favorite verse is there... "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Re 21:4)

John 19:30, "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
Matthew 20:28, John 10:15-18, 1Timothy 2:5-6, Hebrews 2:9-10, 1John 2:1-2.

I cannot say have a particular favourite verse, no.

Some areas of the Bible that I like are John 1 and 1 Cor 13 and Luke 6.

As single verses, Matt 27:51, the proof of redemption

that one is very good Geraldine. my sincere apologies, RitaH. Please forgive me.
---aka on 8/30/14

Thank you Geraldine for your answer, I love that one also.

As for others - I asked for verses, not lectures or arguments so I will leave this one (and my other similar on) for you to destroy between yourselves.

I now have no desire to see how this one progresses.

Aka...---Leon on 8/29/14

so, Leon. you are either not calling me a fool or you are abandoning God's word. i think you know that i am no fool and i do not think you are dismissing God's word.

it is not a "jihad" against you, it is a voice for those who are easily intimidated and trying to learn. it seems every time you ask a question, in some degree, you belittle the others who do not believe as you. if you puff yourself up, that is no matter of mine.

but, i also have the right to answer a question from my understanding and counter if need be.

leon, i will always procure the Truth with all my might despite me.
---aka on 8/29/14

Aka: You no more "know Leon" than you accurately know the Bible. I'd really appreciate it if you'd end your relentless jihad against me just because I don't believe exactly like you do. Buy the truth! :)
---Leon on 8/29/14

"...think of jesus overturning tables at the temple. the exchangers procured the truth and sold it for a profit. that is why the acts verse is my favorite. they procured the truth and tried to use it to benefit themselves." [?!!!]
---aka on 8/28/14

UNTRUE! The meaning of Pv. 23:23 is:

1.) You "buy" the truth by "PAYING ATTENTION" to God's word (the Bible). You "SPEND TIME" listening to God (the Holy Spirit) reveal His truths versus our trying to figure it out (privately interpret) for ourselves. Listening to God brings wisdom, knowledge & understanding to the hearer.

2.) After buying God's truth, it's foolish to "sell" (EXCHANGE) it for anything else.
---Leon on 8/29/14

//No, they were not procuring truth.// cluny

exchange is part of procurement.

//Here's another favorite of mine Rita.// ---Leon on 8/28/14

Use of scripture to control others and justify yourself indirectly. there is the passive part of passive/aggressive that i have come to know of leon. the aggressive is asking someone a question knowing that nobody is correct but you.

rita, another favorite

Eph_6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

with this we do not have to ask why. this brings us back to the point. jesus is savior...and not any of us.

// they procured the truth and tried to use it to benefit themselves.
---aka on 8/28/14//

No, they were not procuring truth.

They were exchanging Roman coinage for Temple coinage and selling ritually pure sacrificial animals.

Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths."
---Geraldine on 8/28/14

Here's another favorite of mine Rita. "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself." (Pv. 26:4, ESV)
---Leon on 8/28/14

cluny, you will not find an english version that uses a different word than buy.

i do not think buy buys the hebrew word used. perhaps a better word would be procure, create, build. sell is a perfect word.

Pro 23:23 Buy truth, and do not sell it, buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding. esv

this versions seems to capture the translation better.

think of jesus overturning tables at the temple. the exchangers procured the truth and sold it for a profit. that is why the acts verse is my favorite. they procured the truth and tried to use it to benefit themselves.

Leon, since the NT says that faith is a gift from God (lest any should boast), how does one buy faith?

"Buy truth, and do not sell it, Get wisdom and instruction and understanding." (Pv. 23:23, NASB)
---Leon on 8/28/14

Act 19:15 ...the evil spirit said to them, "I know Jesus, and I know about Paul, but you---who are you?"
Act 19:16 The man who had the evil spirit in him attacked them with such violence that he overpowered them all. They ran away from his house, wounded and with their clothes torn off.
