Demonic Spirits Violate

Why should a demonic spirit be able to violate the plain conditions in "1 John 4:1-3" without Christianity itself being placed into serious doubt?

How did you back surgery turn out, shira?

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 6/15/15

cluny, thanks for correcting my English. you are very good at that with everyone but I really do appreciate it. satan had to have permission to bother Job. God gave it to him except he wasn't allowed to kill him. pray for me and my back surgery next month. I am praying they can do a spinal and do the surgery. Im not a candidate for going under. God bless you

\\demons can't do anything without God's approval.
---shira4368 on 12/19/14

Permission or providence might be better words to use than "approval," but I agree with your point, shira.

Nevertheless, their power is limited, as they are mere creatures. And since the coming of Christ, they are bound--that is, their power is MORE limited.

demons can't do anything without God's approval.
---shira4368 on 12/19/14

Demons are too fearful of God to patently disobey God. See Mark 5. God controls demons just as He controls angels.

1Sam 16:14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
1King 22:23 . . . the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets . . .
Eze 14:9 I the LORD have deceived that prophet
Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them:

The Lord can send lying spirits tell to lies in dreams, testing to see if one will believe Him and His words in 1 John 4, or if that one will put more faith in the demon's words and visions of his dreams.

Rom 3:4 . . . let God be true, but every man a liar

aka, For some reason my reply to you happened to get in the wrong blog. Take a second to look !
---1stcliff on 12/17/14

Cliff, because there are other replies of yours for years that have underlying implications. Responding to your reply to anon, I thought you were saying that demons don't exist. But, now I realize that you are saying that things happened in the 1st century (and earlier I assume) that do not happen now.
---aka on 12/17/14

\\God spoke audibly from heaven at Jesus' baptism , That has not happened since , for one !\\

Yes, it did.

It happened at the Transfiguration.

Another time, Jesus prayed, "Father, glorify Your name." The Father replied audibly, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again." Other people heard it, but some misunderstood what they heard, some even thinking it was merely thunder or an angel speaking.

aka, I don't remember mentioning Jesus in this conversation.
Many things happened in the 1st century, when Christ walked the earth, that have never happened since.

\\Are you saying that jesus also erred?\\

None of us here are up to the spiritual level of Jesus.

Were it a simple case of medical epilepsy, Jesus would have said that it was not a demon, and simply healed the boy.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 12/16/14

Cliff, there have been many, many misdiagnoses over time.

Are you saying that jesus also erred?
---aka on 12/16/14

Anon, an effective liar will tell at least part of the truth SOMETIMES.

I believe that 1 John is supposed to be a rule of thumb, and not a "one size fits all" test.

As far as your dream, the ancient Christian writers say we should ignore them, unless they warn us to repent.

Remember that the Bible covers 4000 years of human history, but there are no more than a dozen dreams of any spiritual significance. What does that tell you?

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 12/16/14

Cliff if jesus would have known that then he would have realized that the demoniac that he freed ordered pizza called 'the legion' for the pepperoni was many. That's what he gets for eating pork.

Anon, John lived in a time where that probably was a good test. For today it still applies to the found lost sheep.

Anon, The brain is an awesome organ, influenced by all manner of things.
I would be questioning what I ate/drank (or horror movie) before going to bed before "assuming" it was a demon !
---1stcliff on 12/16/14

A demon came to me in a dream and said that "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh." I am sure it was one in part because it had a corrupt, rotting appearance that no holy angel would ever bear. Please assume for the sake of the argument I am telling the truth and it was indeed demonic. The following argument will be long, so please bear with me. Asterisks ** will be utilized for emphasis of words.

You would have to get this idea *solely* from an extra-biblical source (like I did in my dream) or assumption (as others have assumed that 1 John 4:1-3 is *not* an absolute test for spirits). This alone, to me, makes Biblical doctrine less clear and even more questionable, if the text doesnt really mean what it seems to clearly mean (without any alternate passages to back up any clear exceptions to the rule within the Bible itself).

This refers to John 1. God the Word was made flesh.

Most heresies and false religions deny the Incarnation.

I'm not sure what you're asking in the second part of your question.

Can you explain?

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 12/16/14

They cannot violate 1 John 4:1-3. That is the test we use to figure out if it is evil or from God.
