"Do men wait for marriage"?

The difference in the decision depends if the man is truly committed unto THE LORD and walk by HIS ADMONITIONS . . "A man after THE LORD'S HEART" will wait and discern first of all upon GOD'S APPROVAL for as HE reminds us in HIS WORD: "Don't get unequally yoked with unbelievers" - many ignore that and sooner or later, this union won't work and secondly, he will wait as well as the woman for the marriage to be considered and acceptable by the law process.

\\ As a black man who has studied so called "American history" in an attempt to find the contributions of the ethnic group to which I belong, I am fully aware of how most books have been manipulated to reveal only what the so called majority willed to be generally revealed to the "cursory" inquirer.\\

How do you know this is historically accurate, since it's not in the Bible?

That seems to be your test for trustworthy historical sources.

"The people living at the time it was written. Couldn't you figure that out?" What I could or could not figure out is irrelevant, it is for you to be clear. What is clear to me, is your attempt at condescension. Again, how would you know what the people of that time knew? Your assuming. I won't want even comment on the rest of your post, it's meaningless, and demonstrates your inability to continue an intelligent dialog, I'm done with this exchange.

\\Who are these "immediate readers" Cluny?\\

The people living at the time it was written. Couldn't you figure that out?

\\"However, a cursory glance into antiquity will prove what I have said."
How can you or I know of a certainty what happened in "antiquity" apart from the truth of what is revealed biblically?\\

Do you believe in the multiplication table.

It's nowhere in the Bible.

Neither are computers, which you seem to use without scruple.

Why, since they are not Biblical?

How can you or I know of a certainty what happened in "antiquity" apart from the truth of what is revealed biblically? Am I to trust what man refers to as history? Elizabeth, to document why I believe as I do, as it is written, concerning marriage "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh." Eph 5:31 "What? know ye not that he which is joined to ("fasten firmly together," as in sexual intercourse Strongs G2853) an harlot is one body? for two, (that is joined together physically, implied) saith he, shall be one flesh." Eph 5:31

\\ "Actually, the marriage took place when the marriage contract was made earlier, as was the custom of the time." BCV?
---josef on 6/27/18\\

The Bible doesn't go into detailed descriptions of social and cultural practices of the time, as they were already known by the immediate readers. Not knowing these interferes with understanding just what the Bible is talking about, e.g., the books described in the Bible are scrolls instead of the modern codex form.. Twenty-first century America is not the early Bronze Age of the Torah.

However, a cursory glance into antiquity will prove what I have said.

Actually, the marriage took place when the marriage contract was made earlier, as was the custom of the time.

Formal ceremonies are much later.

Try again.

"Do men still wait for marriage before touching, kissing or having sex?"
Man has never waited for a marriage certificate before having sexual contact or intercourse, if, he had opportunity. What man failed to realize, did not understand, or simply ignored was that the very act, according to scripture, in the Father's eyes, constituted marriage. Unless, of course, there was a conscious, deliberate act of solicitation involving payment for sexual services. However, even the man that joins himself to a prostitute becomes one with her, again, according to scripture.

You could just as well have asked if women still wait for marriage for these same activities.

The answer to both questions is the same: I'm sure some do.
