Possessed With A Demon

A friend of mine's brother is a priest and performs exorcisms. Do you believe that people can still be possessed with demons and that exorcism works?

No one on the earth today is possessed with demons, they are oppressed but not possessed.

The individuals who had the ability to cast out demons were the apostles and they are all dead and their giftings have ceased after they completed their purposed...

Do you mean to say that there are 2 or more members of the worldly denominationa "church" of Steveng?

Steveng, I have a true story of a Christian family who took their boys out of home school and put them in public school. Both sons also played baseball. One brother had failing health but the team kept him on. These young Christian brothers and especially the one dying were such a light , that when the younger brother died, the funeral was held at the High School , on the baseball field and the Atlanta Braves attended, where may of the Braves are Christian, gave the most awesome testimonies at this funeral, and many were saved. It was incredible. The HS is right here in my back yard.

This never would have happened if they didn't go to Public School and befriend the lost.

\\But you continue to badger, insult and make rude comments \\

You, on the other hand, never do so to me. Right?

What if I were to tell you that God said you've been listening to an impostor?

It is not just possible, its something that psychologists call schizophrenia. Yes if bold enough he can deliver a person of their demons.
---Carla on 11/29/18

You assume way too much. We gather wherever two or more are gathered in Jesus' name. We don't hide in our basements. We are out in the world doing what the apostles did. the world IS our mission field.

Homeschooling is the perfect solution to train up a child in the ways he or she should go and will never depart from that teaching when confronted with the worldly system. In today's world government schools are nothing more than indoctrination centers to train the child in the ways of the world and the dumbing down of our children. The new federal Common Core educational curriculum is exponentially worse. The creator of Common Core is none other than Bill Gates.
---Steveng on 11/29/18

Cluny, I have asked you to STOP IT so many times and that it has nothing to do with ones intelligence, as even Albert Einstein couldn't spell. But you continue to badger, insult and make rude comments nothing more than HATE and what many would call bullying, which is hate. I've shown you your own hypocrisy by pointing out you too misspell, so again, pointing to others shortcomings when you too have them is not LOVE or being graceous to HATE Cluny. If I wanted or needed your correction, I would ask for it. I do t want it or need it. I AM HAPPY exactly the way I am, and so is God.

You started the digs and have kept on. I'm done with you. Instead of apologizing, you continue to make excuses ....called PRIDE.
---kathr4453 on 11/29/18

Steveng, there is as much danger in separating yourself in basements and homes as in mainstream churches. There is no law or rule that if you meet in a home you are not worldly, or of a false belief system. The Amish believe such things as well, yet all their unworldliness and separation doesn't guarantee their doctrine is correct.

Churches are mission fields as well, needing LIGHT to shine there as well as anywhere.

Homeschooling children doesn't always protect from the world, or keep the world away from them. We need to function in this world, and are given the Holy Spirit to do so, not hide from it.

\\Discussing doctrine is one thing, but making personal attacks on others when you feel you must be losing an argument is another. It's the personal attacks Cluny that is being discussed where your PRIDE comes in. \\

Now who is indulging in personal attacks, kathr?

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 11/27/18

Steveng, Scripture is very CLEAR that we see in Colossians 1,24-27 there was something HIDDEN and was not revealed in the OT. Now either you believe ALL scripture or you are just another cult who picks and chooses what you want to believe ..not what GOD SAID.

And no OT scripture even remotely said anything about being crucified with Christ and raised up a NEW CREATURE which is also a MYSTERY that was hidden in the OT. No OT scripture ever fortold of Jew and Gentile becoming ONE NEW MAN IN CHRIST, neither Jew or Gentile.

SOOOOO, you are free to believe anything your heart desires HOWEVER, don't go crying in the end when God says ...Steveng....I never KNEW you!
---kathr4453 on 11/27/18

I am sorry, Cluny.

I didn't mean to put my question in that manner.

I was joking but it didn't come out that way.

I addressed you because Kathr asked me not to speak to her anymore.

According to her she gets nauseated when she reads my posts.

But for some reason she keeps addressing me.

I don't know if she meant the request or not.
---Nicole_Lacey on 11/27/18

Jesus and the apostles taught from the OT. There wasn't a NT at the time of Jesus. Jesus and the apostles taught the Gospel, the coming of the Kingdom of God - and how to get there. The miracles Jesus and the apostles performed was proof that God was working through them.

One should not add to or take away from the words of God. God's word never changes. The only difference between the OT and the NT is that the OT was of a physical nature and the NT is of a spiritual nature.

Kathr, I, and people like myself, do not belong to worldly denominational churches. We gather together at homes, parks, cafes or wherever two or more are gathered in Jesus' name.

I don't let myself off the hook for being a rotten speller. But God loves me exactly how He created me, bad speller and all. Discussing doctrine is one thing, but making personal attacks on others when you feel you must be losing an argument is another. It's the personal attacks Cluny that is being discussed where your PRIDE comes in. Now if you feel spiritual pride as well, just another sin added to your long list.

God resists the PROUD and gives more GRACE to the Humble... It's God who equates Pride as the opposer of humility. You are SO PROUD of your perfect spelling and so arrogantly mock others who are not as brilliant as you, SHOWING YOUR PRIDE, not any humility in the situation. Others have even called you and Monk out for your petty arrogance.

I said maybe your failing health is due to your arrogance, and maybe God will show you more GRACE if you act like others here who show humility in this area and stop badgering and bullying others about how PERFECT you are.

You show no love towards others Cluny. And don't point to me. Don't point fingers at others so you can let yourself off the hook. That's childish.
---kathr4453 on 11/26/18

Cluny, how did I get into this conversation?

I scrolled down and I didn't see not one posting by me.

She asked me to leave her alone and now she is either thanking me, fussing at me or giving me advice.

Kathr, please make up your mind.

Either you want to debate me or not.

I think you are mad because StrongAxe has become my #1 Nemesis.

You use to be #1 Nemesis, but the love has gone away.

Remember you said I made you nauseated and you didn't want to read my blogs.

You must have taken a Zofran and now able to stomach my responses.

\\although one can certainly show grace at a time of humiliation.\\

kathr can teach you all about humility.

She doesn't have a proud bone in her body.

If you don't believe me, read her posts here.

---Cluny on 11/25/18

Nicole, to be a humble person is not accepting being humiliated, although one can certainly show grace at a time of humiliation. Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, God is not asking anyone to humiliate themselves and in doing so is showing humility.

Just think of Trumps BRAGGING and boasting and patting himself on the back for even things he is not responsible for, and calling others stupid for not being as smart as he is. So PRIDE my dear is actually the opposite of humility., as it has been noted many times Trump doesn't know the meaning of being humble. Humility is also giving others credit and not hogging it all for yourself.
---kathr4453 on 11/25/18

\\You may be surprised. Remember God gives MORE GRACE to the HUMBLE, and RESISTS THE PROUD.\\

Do you know the only way one achieves humility, kathr?

By graciously accepting being humiliated.

I think you're doing a lot of projecting here.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 11/25/18

Worth repeating.

Clunky, I know you are sort of the obsessive type, neurotic, in being so obsessed with my spelling. I hope you get the help you so desperately need, and maybe then after NOT being so Judgemental of others issues not important to God in the first place, maybe your healing will increase a few more degrees, since you're not totally healed yet of your health issues. I believe you are the reason you are not healed. Try humility for a bit. You may be surprised. Remember God gives MORE GRACE to the HUMBLE, and RESISTS THE PROUD. I know you are extremely proud of your perfect spelling, but NO ONE HERE CARES.

Clunky the NT is the New Covenant. The word Testament and Covenant are the same. Sorry but no one chose books to follow. If that is so, no wonder. If they did it was surely out of what was prophecied the New Covenant is. But I see you all did not do that except in only some places, and chose fables and faiy tales for the rest, and tried to take OT Priesthood issues to redefine, rather than believe they were DONE AWAY.

So you are correct, I don't care what you believe. I believe much of your doctrine is FALSE. Deal with it.
---kath4453 on 11/24/18

kathr, there is still no PP in the word "triple."

Please show the verse that sayss that baptism is to be done by single immersion.

BTW, the Orthodox Church never claimed to follow the NT. She chose the books of the NT because they reflected what she did and believed.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 11/24/18

The OT Levitical Priesthood, you have taken from the LAW and think you are spiritually superior is nonsense. There were many reasons for WASHINGS etc, but it began in Israel for the Priests to wash and cleanse themselves prior to offering sacrifice. Or if they had to handle a corpse, or something unclean.

We see no comparison even when Jesus or any from Israel John Baptized with triPPle emersion, and NO SCRIPTURE shows any babies being baptized, with hocus pokus words spoken over them waving around a cross preforming exorcisms.

Many also believe Baptism replaced circumcision, also a ritual of covenant where in the OT Gentiles who joined Israel were circumcised AND where babies were circumcised equated with infant baptism.
---kathr4453 on 11/24/18

kathr, please give the exact verse where infant baptism is forbidden.

Also, Christian baptism developed from the Jewish rite of mikveh, which is still done with a triple immersion for converts.

Therefore, it's up to YOU to give the verse that says single immersion.

And there is NO double P in the word "triple."

"Emersion" means coming up from the water. The word you are looking for is "immersion".

I would remind you of a proverb: Better to silent and thought ignorant than to open it and remove all doubt.

Sounds like Steveng thinks the Bible is just another journal added to the many journals written. YIKES!

I'm not sure what your faith is Steveng, sometimes you sound Catholic, sometimes JW, ..I guess what ever tickles your fancy at any given moment.

Firstly scripture does not teach infant baptism, but believers baptism. Secondly when Christ comes to live in a believer, no demons can live there at the same time. When Christ moves in ...if any are in there, He kicks them out, taking total possession of the believer. If man can extract with out Christ immediately moving in, a million times more move in and it's worse afterwords then before. THATS SCRIPTURAL.

Whatever you are Steveng, I'm not having any.
---kathr4453 on 11/23/18

So much of what you say are things you all made up. No scripture teaches TRIPPLE emersion either, as if THAT is somehow superior or more just bunk.

No scripture states any water was any different or more holy than any other water. So much of your practice is based on superstition or the likes.

WhenPaul preached at Mars Hill to many listening, he actually was giving what you may think of as an alter call. And many left the Greek philosophers and followed Paul's Gospel then becoming preachers of the Gospel themselves. We don't see any sacraments or whatever having to be taken first....which is NOT in scripture.
---kath4453 on 11/23/18

kathr, the Orthodox and other Eastern Churches baptize by triple immersion.

And what word did I misspell in my post?

Or have you simply never seen the word "baptizand" before?

In early church history there are accounts of exorcisms read over the batpizands.

There are no such thing as revivals or altar calls or invitation hymns in the Bible, either. Does your church do them?

BTW, the water of baptism in the pre-reformation churches is especially blessed for the purpose.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
---Cluny on 11/23/18

Well, I'll bet there are beliefs that wearing one sock over the left ear during an exorcism will contain the little bugger. Garlic is suppose to help too.

So there ya go, you believe in man made fables and philosophy....we are to stay away from.

So you claim all babies are demon possessed at birth, then being exorcised when baptized and walla, WHAT? Or you think preforming some whammy jammy wording over someone splashing holy water and a cross over a baby will keep the devil away forever? So why all those murdering horrible sinful mobsters who are predomitely of that belief, and why so many demon possessed Catholics we see all these stories about?

Kathr wrote: "... no scripture supports any exorcism taking place at anyone's baptism."

That may may be true in your bible, but...

How do you absolutely, positively know for sure that exorcism never place at anyone's baptism?

You think what you read in the bible are the only journals and letters written? I'm sure tens of thousands of such letters and eyewitness accounts were written by the people who were healed and journals written by other witnesses who followed Jesus. In fact, the Romans were very meticulous in keeping records - even of Jesus' court cases. Many of these documents not in the bible can be found in three of the largest libraries in the world - two in eastern Europe and one in Egypt.
---Steveng on 11/23/18

Cluny, I believe your comment would hold up better if you learned how to spell.

And no scripture supports any exorcism taking place at anyone's baptism. I suppose that possibly might be the motions of making the motion of the cross over someone...correct? Yet no such practice ever took place in scripture before or after Jesus death and resurrection. Just THAT in itself is witchcraft using a symbol or ikon of a cross to say it had magical powers or that God uses crosses as a shield against the devil. One must put on the WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, as scripture teaches. And one must be IN CHRIST as well. No priest has any power either to place a baby IN CHRIST.
---kathr4453 on 11/22/18

Yes, and yes.

In the Orthodox rite of baptism, there are three exorcisms read over the baptizand.

The other pre-reformation churches do something similar.

Glory to Jesus Christ!
