Forgive As God Forgives

"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you." (Ephesians 4:31-32)

This says to forgive "even as God". What does God mean?

Yes, Kath . . . God forgave us who were undeserving.

Thank you (c:

So, I do not need to try to judge about who is deserving of my forgiveness or not.

And on the cross, already Jesus forgave us, didn't He? After all, in His heart, on the cross, Jesus desired for us to be forgiven.

And didn't Jesus say if we do something in our heart, we already have done it??

GOD covenanted with Israel. His servant like a wife. Both houses of Israel sinned. Jer 3:8-20. He said he would forgive them. Through New Covenant he did. Jer 31:31-33, Heb 8:8-10.
Did he forgive Esau?
Did he forgive Jacob.
Rom 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
Real simple, we dont determine what GOD does or will do.
Socialist / communist like to think they can, ha.
Rom 9:18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
You are probably forgiven family Bill. Not being a hardened iD10t.

Just as God IN CHRIST forgave you.

There is a lesson in one of the Gospels where someone owing a debt was forgiven, ( I'm just recalling from memory) but then when the shoe was on the other foot, this same person who was forgiven refused to forgive another.

It might be worth revisiting that verse and it's consequences.

Those who know what it's like having God's forgiveness, something NONE OF US DESERVE, should never hold unforgivness towards another we think they don't deserve.

Comedian Stephen Colbert once wrote:

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it."

Bill:

How true! Unfortunately, many Christians find these instructions inconvenient, and just ignore them.

When Cluny first showed me this site years ago, he called it "The Piranha Blogs", due to constant infighting - and things haven't changed. Some aren't content to discuss, but constantly fling insults, accusations, and outright lies. Read them yourself, and draw your own conclusions.

Many Christian are Pharisees - pushing beliefs on others, hurling accusations, condemning others to hell, fighting over doctrine - driving many away from Christ in disgust. People abandon God due to Christian hypocrisy. Paul rightly wrote: "'It is because of YOU God's name is mocked among the nations' as it is written".
