Predestined As A Son Of God

Be predestined as a SON of God, not as a SERVANT.

Having predestinated us unto the ADOPTION of children.

Rom 8:29 those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the first-born among many brethren (BROTHERS).....(Your move).

Eph 1:11 "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:"
---michael_e on 5/25/22

Obtained an inheritance.
Inheritance found 203 times..

Deu 32:9For the LORD'S portion is his people, Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

1Ki 8:53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, ****
Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be (a position which in this case is being) conformed to the image of his Son. Compare

Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Who were under the Law. All of Israel. Who was divorced put away, to later be forgiven, redeemed.

Jer 3:8 I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, given her a bill of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

Predestination is in scripture, but folks just see the word predestination and fail to read what we are predestined for....WE WERE PREDESTINED TO BE CONFORMED TO HIS IMAGE. So all those saved today re free will, are members of Christ's body, something never before heard of and never promised to earthly Israel, as we are a NEW CREATURE, also something NEW, neither Jew or Gentile, are being conformed to His Image. God, before the foundation of the world, had this already planned, but it was kept secret until Jesus rose from the dead. We are the CALLED OUT ONES, who are going to reign and rule with Jesus Christ during the 1000 year reign, after the first resurrection, but before the second death. So this has to do with our
POSITION.

Predestination is from John Calvin.

I disagree with GOD already choose for us. What would be the purpose?

Are you one of the predestined?
---JS1234 on 6/6/22

It's the CHURCH that is positioned IN CHRIST, seated with Christ in heavenly places IN CHRIST. So THE CHURCH is made up of individuals YES, not Nations. So the Body Of Christ is now seen as a BODY OF BELIEVERS, all being ONE IN CHRIST,being conformed to His Death. Phil 3 explains this perfectly.

When reading scripture as a believer IN CHRIST , you will or should come to understand...let's take Ephesians...that Paul is talking about THE CHURCH, not individuals. The Church was predestined.

michael_e, I totally agree with your last post.

Rom 8:29a "For whom he did fore know, he also did predestinate to (Hell or Heaven It doesn't say that) Whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed (be made like), to the image of his Son,..."
That's not heaven or hell. That's a position God has reserved for the individual believer.
---michael_e on 5/29/22

God predestined before the foundation of the world there would be THE CHURCH. THE BOC. It was kept secret in the OT, yet many scriptures in the OT pointed to the Church, which God has lifted the blinders and the Holy Spirit can show us these types and shadows of A HEAVENLY CALLING.

This age of Grace has now revealed God's plan and purpose FOR THE CHURCH. We have a HIGHER CALLING for a purpose. Our HIGHER CALLING includes our being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. The CHURCH was predestined, it was not PLAN B after the fact.

michael_e:

People are either predestined to be adopted as children, or they aren't - in which case they are predestined to NOT be adopted. What happens to those who are not adopted as children? Can they earn admittance to heaven all on their own? The Bible says they can't - which means they're predestined to hell.
---StrongAxe on 5/26/22

We aren't predestined to heaven or hell.
Eph 1:5 "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"
Paul teaches, the moment we become a believer we are placed as an heir with the Son. We're predestinated right there with Christ, as a joint heir in the process of the adoption.
Eph 1:11 "In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:"

---michael_e on 5/25/22

You can't command someone to "be" predestined - either they were already predestined, or they weren't. This is what predestination means.

As for Calvinistic total depravity:

Atheist illusionist and comedian Pell Jilette wrote:

"The question I get asked by religious people all the time is, without God, what's to stop me from raping all I want?

And my answer is, I DO rape all I want. And the amount I want is zero. And I DO murder all I want. And the amount I want is zero. The fact that these people think that if they didn't have this person watching over them that they would go on killing, raping rampages is the most self-damning thing I can imagine."

Samuel, the way to pinpoint a Cult is to see if it EXCLUDES anyone, and somehow it's all about THEM being picked.

Predestined here in scripture means THE CHURCH, THOSE SAVED TODAY DURING THIS AGE OF GRACE, God has predetermined the BOC is to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, being accomplished through the fellowship of His sufferings, which is what the preaching OF THE CROSS is all about. This in a nut shell is explained in Colossians 1:24-27, Roman's 6-8,Galatians 2:20-21.

Those who fail to see this are simply trying to climb over some other way.
---kathr4453 on 5/22/22

This view is Calvinism. Based on these point.
Total Depravity. You must be forced to be saved.
Unconditional Election. God makes people be saved.
Limited atonement. Jesus didn't die for the sins of the world. Just the Picked elect.
Persistence of the saints.

Those who disagree. Point out that salvation is offered to the whole world.

So free will is true for others. I agree with them.

I am not a teacher. I do not argue, explain, convince/persuade validate, acknowledge, confirm or deny anything that a person wants to believe. If you have ever heard of the LAW OF LIBERTY, (James 1:25 and 2:12), we each are supposed to make our own decisions (and I will not infringe on that), besides you shall believe

IF you want to draw near to FATHER, you will CHOOSE TO DO SO OUT OF LOVE FOR HIM. THERE IS NO TEXT TO THIS LAW.

Too the Sheep. Hirelings can never post these verses below. Caught up in their own doctrinal delusions or offering plate spreadsheet. No prophets, no witnesses. Just self created legends in their own minds. Worshipping their creator.

2Sa 7:24 For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.
1Ki 6:13 will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
Jos 21:45There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel, all came to pass.

1Ch 17:22 For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever, and thou, LORD, becamest their God.

Who here is adding to, or taking away from scripture? Both you and I post scripture here. The difference between us is that I acknowledge all of it, while you seem to ignore (i.e. take away) the parts that you find inconvenient.

Elect is first side of predestined.

Isa 45:4For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

Isa 45:17But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.

Clear on the who. The why is easily found by the Sheep, or those who fear /believe GOD enough not to add to or take away fro scripture.

Yes, we do serve His PURPOSE.

WE do not serve HIM (because He is not our MASTER, He is FATHER to us).

God tells us that under the eternal covenant, we have been adopted as SONS (but of course, we still serve His PURPOSE and goal).

He tells us that we have been adopted as SONS and are predestined by the eternal covenant as SONS (but we will still serve His purpose as a SON of the FATHER)...(He did not come to be served).

This is not a standard teaching but I have no objection to being predestined (nobody should, but its your choice).

Romans 8:29 If the idea is, God has already predetermined we are supposed to go to Heaven, we'll get there. If we are predestined to go to Hell, it's settled
But it doesn't say heaven or hell. What it says is Whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be (a position which in this case is being) conformed to the image of his Son
That's a position that God has reserved for every individual believer. Compare Ephes. 1:4,5

Yes, we are God's children, but we do serve.

"Let all that you do be done with love." (1 Corinthians 16:14)

And so our serving is in our Father's family caring and sharing way. We do not waste ourselves or lord ourselves over others, but we share with Jesus in His "rest for your souls." (Matthew 11:28-30)

And yes we have been adopted. We used to be children of the devil who is love-dead. But now we have our Father who is alive ! ! ! (c:

And we are Jesus Christ's brothers and sisters, being conformed to how Jesus is and loves > this is God's basic focus of everything.
